Ramczyk was currently working on his pass rush techniques against foam dummies after practice. So far this whole experience has been a real journey. After being drafted Ramczyk was moved to the defense to help the defense upfront. Ramczyk had to relearn defensive moves that he had used in high school but had forgotten for more blocking techniques in college. AS Ramczyk made his way around the dummy a hulking figure walked up behind Ramczyk. It was Adam MerBOT! He had seen Ramczyk working alone and had decided to come to give some pointers to the young defensive tackle. The two linemen began working together through different techniques. Ramczyk tried to ask as many questions as he could to MerBOT. As the sun went down, that did not stop the duo from working on their hands and feet as much as they could. After the session, Ramczyk felt a little bit more comfortable with his technique and was slowly starting to feel at home with Tijuana.
Today was Ramczyk's first official game in the DSFL! Preseason has come and went and Raczyk was now time to have the games matter. It was regular-season time and time to work for the playoffs. Ramczyk's first game would be against the Dallas Birddogs . The game was on a different level. Everyone seemed to move a lot faster since preseason and Ramczyk had to keep up as much as he could. Ramczyk was trying his hardest to get past the offensive line. Ramczyk did in fact get a few tackles, 6 tackles in total in fact. However, Ramczyk was unable to make any tackles for loss or even get a sack to help his team. The Luchadores would fall to the Birddogs 24-17. It was not the outcome they wanted but Ramczyk was still a little proud of his individual performance.
The Luchadores would be taking on the London Royals . Tijuana was looking for their first win of the season and they knew they could earn it today. The game started off well with the first half seeing the Luchdores blanking the Royals 10-0. The rest of the game was still a hard-fought battle, however, the Luchadores would keep increasing their lead by 3 for the reaming 2 quarters. The defense was partying being able to get their very first win and also being able to get the shutout at the same time. Ramczyk finished the game with 4 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Not as big of an impact but still being able to make some tackles and also get a tackle for loss as well.
Ramczyk was feeling pretty good right now. The Luchadores had been able to get back to .500 and he was also playing pretty well for an interior lineman. Having 10 tackles and a tackle for a loss in his first 2 games was alright with him. He was happy to be able to contribute in any way that he could. That's all that really mattered to Ramczsyk as long as he was able to contribute and also that the Luchadores are winning. The team comes first and individual stats come second.
It was now time for the Luchador's third game of the season. The Kansas City Coyotes were coming to town and trying to beat the Luchadores in their own home. Right now the Luchadores were 0-1 at home and had to get back into the win column for their fans and to defend their own house. The Game was a slugfest. Both defenses were playing well keeping the offenses in check. The Luchadores scored first in the contest making it 7-0. Then the Coyotes took the lead with 10 points in the second to make it 10-7. Going into the half, the defense was still feeling confident. The game was still close and they had faith in their offense to get them back in the lead. Coming out to the second half Tijuana scored a touchdown and the Coyotes secured a field goal. It was now 14-13 in favor of Tijuana. This was Ramczyk's first extremely close game and there was still a quarter to play. The fourth quarter had the Coyotes leading with 13:51 left in the game. The offense was able to storm down the field and kick a field bringing the Luchadore back into the lead. It was now up to the Luchadore defense to stop the Coyote's offense and finish the game strong. Which the defense did. The Coyote's offense was unable to score for the rest of the game giving Tijuana a 2-1 start on the season. Ramczyk was ecstatic about the win. Getting 6 tackles and also getting his very first sack in a very tight win was amazing. The defense played great and never got down on themselves when behind.
The Luchadores were on the road for their next game. Going all the way to Bondi to face the Bondi Beach Buccaneers . The Buccaneers were also 2-1 just like the Luchadores. The Luchadores looked to keep their away record going strong hoping to go 2-0 as the away team. The game started out offensively. The Buccaneers scored 14 points while the Luchadore scored 7. The scoring did not stop there. The Luchadores were able to score a touchdown again in the second but the Buccanneers kept the pace scoring 10 in the second quarter. Going into halftime it was 24-14 in favor of Bondi. The defense got together and started talking. Any information they had was being used to try and make adjusts for the hot Buccaneer offense. It was only a 10 score game and the defense had to step it up to give their offense a chance to be able to tie it up. The 3rd quarter start with a Luchadore touchdown and the Buccaneers were only able to get a field goal. Going into the 4th it was only a 1 score game for Tijuana. The fourth quarter started with a Buccaneer field goal bringing the score to 21-30. The Luchadores would need to claw back and being the heat. The Defense stepped up big time. Stopping the high flying offense of the Buccanneers. With the Buccaneers stalling on offense it was time for the Luchadores to take over. First, it started with a 75 run by the offense to bring the score to 28-30. With 26 seconds left the Luchadores scored from 5 yards away to take the lead 35-30. Game Over. What a game for Ramczyk, an up and down battle the whole game. Having 5 tackles helped the team but getting the victory tasted so much better.
After the week 4 win Ramczyk was starting to fit into his role for the Luchadores and was focusing on what he could control in the game. So far Ramczyk had 21 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 sack for the season right now. It was looking good for Ramczyk to make his name in the league and also good for the Luchadores to be a strong team throughout the league.
Week 5 featured a matchup of Tijuana versus the Minnesota Grey Ducks . This was a tough one to swallow. The game was tied all the way until the 4th quarter. The defense was holding strong until the Grey Ducks found some weaknesses in the defense. Scoring 2 touchdowns in the 4th and the Tijuana unable to score anymore. The Luchadores would fall to the Grey Ducks 17-3 and get their second loss of the season. It was hard for Ramczyk to accept. The defense had let the team down letting the Grey Ducks score twice to win the game. Ramczyk had 6 tackles for the game but none of that matter to him. It was time to reset, get back to practice, and look ahead for their season's week 6 matchup against the Norfolk Seawolves.
Week 6 was here and it was time to take on the Seawolves . The first half was an ok start. The Luchadors had scored 10 points where the Seawolves scored 17. The Luchadores were down going into the half and it was time to make more adjustments to get the win. The 3rtd quarter saw an offensive standstill with both offenses being unable to secure any points for themselves. The 14th quarter however was all Tijuana. The first scoring of the 4th quarter came from the defense. Buck Nekkid intercepted the pass and returned it for a touchdown for Tijuana! It was now a fully tied game. However, the scoring didn't stop for Tijuana. Bot Bilbo was able to kick a 41-yard field goal to give Tijuana the lead and also the win against the Seawolves! It was a great defensive win for Tijuana and a great game for Ramczyk. Securing 4 tackles for himself and helping the defense be disruptive against the Seawolves. Tijuana was now 4-2 on the season.
To Portland, the Luchadores went to take on the Pythons . Tijuana was currently 2-0 on away games and hoped to make that 3-0 after today. Scoring was going well for both teams more so for the Pythons. The Luchadores scored 10 points and the Pythons score 23 points. The Luchadores were down by two scores and had to try their hardest to get back into this game. Unfournatly they were unable to with the Pythons scoring 3 more points. Tijuana would get their 3rd loss on the season with a 26-10 loss to the Pythons. Ramczyk did not have that great of a game. Getting 4 tackles and 3 for a loss was good but having 3 penalties that cost his team 23 yards was not great at all. Ramczyk had to work on his discipline and not cost his teams so many yards ever again like this.
So far the Luchadores were 4-3 and second in their division. They were still a good team but we're currently trying to get back into the win column for week 8. Ramczyk currently had 35 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack on the season. Ramczyk was doing well as an interior lineman in his first season and it was only looking up from here. Ramczyk was getting stronger and smarter after every game and looks to be a major impact player for Tijuana for the rest of the season. Hopefully
