Pythons Game Report Week 11 – 14
Week 11 Vs BBB
Current Record: 6 – 3
Two closes losses in their previous games, the Pythons were looking to bounce back and kickstart there playoff push again, though the Bucc’s will be another tough game for sure. The Pythons lost the toss and received the ball for the first offensive snap of the game. The first play of the game goes for 19-yards as Panda McKyle find Calvin Hobbes on a lovely route. Two rush plays blown up by the Bucc’s defence force the Pythons to a 3 and 8 on their own 45-yard line. Panda, drops back and is sacked for a 10-yard loss, forcing a punt on their first drive. On the opening drive by the Bucc’s a poorly timed penalty on 3 and 7 give the Bucc’s an easy 1st down. A fantastic play Rookie Sensation caused a fumble but is unable to collect the ball and the result is a 16-yard gain, some big plays from this player so far, a good sign of the future for sure. 2 back-to-back penalty by the Pythons see the Buccs move from the 43-yard line to the Pythons 33 for no effort. Three consecutive rushes by the Bucc’s see them power the ball in for a TD, giving them a 7-0 lead. On the next drive, a disaster strikes the Pythons on 2nd down with Panda throwing only his 5th INT of the year, giving the Bucc’s a start on the Pythons 21-yard line, and unfortunately two plays later the Bucc’s have taken a 14-0 lead. A poor start to the game from Portland. A nice looking return drive by the Pythons see some lovely pass completions and rush by the offense, see the Pythons have a new set of downs on the Buccs 8-yard line. A nice 6-yard rush by Jax Baker see the Pythons open their account for the night. Some poor Pythons coverage see the Buccs gain 70 yards in 3 plays leaving the ball on the Pythons 20-yard line, could the defence hold out. And they did, a missed 39-yard FG gave the Pythons decent field position to start the 2nd quarter. A couple of short run gain and a drop by Goodhead saw the Pythons suffer another 3 and out. A very solid drive by the Bucc’s saw them complete 6 pass on the trot and score their 3 TD of the game giving them a 21 – 7 lead. A fantastic kick-off saw the Pythons pinned on their 9-yard line. The Python needed a strong drive here to gain some momentum back and get a solid foot into the game. A promising drive was let down by some nice Buccs defence, who managed to stop any significant gain on the ground whilst having some solid coverage in the air, and thus the Pythons punted again. Could the defence step up and get the Pythons back into the game, yes they could. A fantastic read by the rookie Jay Spears, saw him pick off the Bucc’s QB for an INT, giving the Pythons the ball on the Buccs 26-yard line. Jax Baker, for his 2 TD game rushed it in on the first snap. Within two plays the Pythons were back in it. The Buccs could do with a strong drive to secure their position in the game, though another outstanding play by the ever so reliable “The Laz” was able to pick off the QB for again ad return the ball for 58-yard TD. The Pythons had drawn level and were now firmly onto of this game. With only 3:13 left on the clock, surly there was enough time for one team to score, would it be the Buccs regain the lead or cold they Pythons finally take the lead? It turned out to the Buccs who took the ball 88-yards over 14 snaps to thoroughly grind the Pythons defence into the dirt. And so at halftime the Buccs had a lead of 27 – 21.
Half Time: Pythons 21 – Buccs 28
So the Buccs had a small lead going into the second half but the Pythons were ramping the pressure up slowly, could the Buccs handle it or would they crack? The half started perfectly for the Pythons as “The Laz” secured his 2nd turnover of the game, this time a forced fumble, truly showing his versatility and credentials for a award come the offseason. A lovely, floated pass by Panda to Calvin for 36-yard saw the Pythons take their 2nd snap on the Bucc’s 4-yard line, And once again Jax Baker punched the ball in for a 3-yard TD. Giving the Pythons a 35 – 27 lead, another 2 plays later and the Pythons could have had another turnover as Elliot Hord sacked the Bucc’s QB forcing a fumble but was unable to recover the ball in time. This finally gave the Buccs some time to regroup and produce a strong methodical 11 play drive ending in a FG bringing the Bucc’s within a score of the Pythons. The Pythons were not able to force any decent yardage on their next drive and so punted the ball away from there own 44-yard live, pinning the Bucc’s offence with the 15-yard line, Roberts has been a unsung hero of the Pythons so far this year. The Buccs were producing another strong looking and methodical drive taking the ball into the Pythons half looking to reduce the gap, until a nice tackle, by the waiver addition Creamy Linguine, saw another turnover as he was able to recover the fumble by the Buccs RB. The Pythons now have the ball on their 45-yard line heading into the 4th quarter and looking to put this game to bead. A nice 17-yard rush by Jax Baker saw the Pythons move into the Buccs half but were unable to convert a 3-7 forcing a 51-yard FG, which Robert placed straight down the center, giving the Pythons 38 – 30 lead. The Buccs have been having some wonderful strung together drive so far this game and were able to repeat this feat, this is becoming an area the Pythons need to work on to become out and out championships contenders. However, with the ball on the Pythons 48-yard line facing a 4 and 8 the Buccs deicide to go for it rather than punt. The Pythons defence stood strong and were able to hold the Buccs RB to only 6-yards and so the ball was back in the Pythons hands after a turnover on downs. 8:45 left, with an 8 point lead the Pythons would be looking to run as much clock as possible here, and so tried 3 rushes but the Buccs defence was prepared and held them to only 2-yards. The Buccs now and the ball on their 18-yard line with 6:39 to go, a 2-point TD would see the score level, the game was well and truly in the balance. 4 Pythons penalties really put the Pythons defence on the back foot, and it looked like the TD was inevitable and so it tuned out to be with Ken Oath rushing for 36 yard for his 1st of the game, bring the score to 38 – 36. The rookie R.L. Stine made his best play of the season blowing up the 2-point conversion attempt, almost guaranteeing the Pythons the win. 3:00 left and the same strategy was applied, run, run and run the ball, unfortunately the Pythons were only able to waste 94s before being forced to Punt and so the Buccs had 1:17 left on their own 14-yard line, they needed a FG to win could they? So great defending saw the ball on the Pythons 46-yard line for 4th and 10 with 15s and 1 timeout left, could the hold the line and secure a really hard-fought win? They did another solid tackle by R. Sensation for 6-yard meant that for the 2nd drive in a row the ball was turned over on down, and so the Pythons held on for once of the best game of S30 in the DSFL.
Final Score: 38 – 36

Week 12 Vs Norfolk Seawolves
After a close a tense win in week 11 against the Bucc’s the Pythons we’re looking to all but guarantee there spot in the playoff with a win here. The Pythons lost the toss and revived the ball in the first half. The first snap of the game the rookie Wendall Salior was able to find Calvin Hobbes who made a defender miss and take the ball 50-yards, a lovely play first up. A good set of back to back rush rushes by Noah Jones saw the Pythons get their 3rd set of 1st downs after only 3 plays. The 4th snap was taken into the end zone by Jax Baker for a 24-yard TD. A perfect start for the Pythons! The Pythons defence trotted out onto the field for the first time looking to continue the fantastic start. That is exactly what they got, on 4th snap Elliot Hord burst through the Norfolk O-Line to record a sack forcing the Malcom Savage (QB) to fumble the ball. E.Hord was able to recover the ball and return it for a single yard. This gave the Pythons the ball on the Norfolk 19-yard line. And would you believe it Panda found Hobbes for a 19-yard TD on the 1st snap. After 5 offensive snaps the Pythons has scored 2 TD’s. A nice 16-yard pass by the Norfolk QB showed the Pythons that even though they’d had the best start to a game possible they still couldn’t rest on the backsides. Any idea that they were were put to rest with the next play as Go Bams was able to force a 2nd fumble. The Pythons took possession of the ball on the Norfolk 45-yard line. 3 straight pass completions saw the Pythons have a new set of downs on the Norfolk 3-yard line, including a lovely 44-yard gain by Hobbes, he’s really racking the yards up. A 3-yard pass to the TE Badhead saw the Pythons take a 21-0 lead with 5:This was looking to be a very one sided game. The Laz picked off the Norfolk on their 2nd snap of the return drive. The Laz was able to return the ball for a 14-yard INT, giving the Pythons the ball on Norfolk’s 21-yard line. 4 straight rush by Ajax Baker saw him pound the Norfolk D-Line taking the ball to the Norfolk 4-yard line, where Panda found Tay Swizzle for a TD. 28-0 2:02 left in the 1st quarter, a fantastic start! The Pythons defence weren’t able to live upto their previous standard and could only hold the Seawolves to a punt. Not much going on the return drive by the Pythons, maybe the break in the play disrupted their rhythm and were forced to punt soon after the start of the 2nd quarter. A strong looking 11 play drive by the Seawolves thankfully ended up with a punt, from the 32-yard line. A 4 and out saw the Pythons punt the ball straight back to the Norfolk, a nice punt by Roberts saw the ball placed on the Seawolves 15-yard line. The rookie S. Multiauaopele was able to smash J.Patey on his reception and cause a fumble, however in the ensuing melee to recover the lose ball the Pythons ended up on the wrong side, much to annoyance of the team. The Seawolves drive continues and looked promising with an 11 play drive, unfortunately not gaining significant momentum and were forced to punt just outside of the Pythons half. With 3:00 left in the first half the Pythons changed tactics and looked to pound the Seawolves D-line trying to take as much time out as possible, a lot of hard work by the RB combo of Jax Baker and Noah Jones saw the Pythons bring the ball into FG range were T.Roberts wasn’t able to converted and missed a 43-yard FG.. The Seawolves had one last chance to get some point on the board before the end of the half with a last ditch Hail Mary, however Rocco Blade had different ideas and sacked the QB, a solid rush through the centre bulldozing his way through, signalling the end of the half.
Half Time Score: 28 – 0
The second half started poorly with both team struggling to gain any sort of ground, 3 straight punt in a row, saw the game return to reality after the high drama of the 1st half. It was finlly the Pythons who were able to put a drive together from their 18-yard line. So nice completion to the dynamic and speedy WR duo of Calvin Hobbes & Tay Swizzle saw the Pythons quickly move the ball to Norfolk 6-yard line, and a TD was looking for set on. However, some valiant defence by Norfolk saw the Pythons only coming away with a FG. Another striahgt off punt by Norfolk really wasn’t what they needed at that time and so gave the ball back to the Pythons, the Norfolk defence was really looking ragged and tired, and so it turned out to be, with one lovely deep throw to Tay Swizzle for 57-yard the Pythons scored a TD, giving them a 35 – 0 lead. The Norfolk offence needed to string together a solid drive to give their defence some time to recover, however 5 plays later they were back out on the field. Now the Pythons had really switched to a very heavy run offence, and with the tired D-line, the Pythons O-line was able to create massive hole for Jax to run through. Unformtunelty the Seawolves defence made a lovely PBU on a 3rd and short resulting in a put at the start of the 4th quarter. Now surly the Seawolves could get a score. No, another straight punt by Norfolk. The team looked beaten and ragged. Again another run heavy drive by the Pythons saw them move the ball from their 48-yard to Norfolk 34-yard line until Jax fumbled the ball, really his first mitakse for a long long while, was this the spark that Norfolk needed to get something positive out of this game? Not really a strong start to the drive with some nice completion for decent yuardage eventually fizzled out and resulted in a turnover on downs on the Pythons 38-yard line with a tough under 5:30 left to go. A couple of first downs for the Pythons would secure the victory and their 2nd shutout of the season. However with 2:10 left they were ofrced to punt and gave Norfolk one last chance, though The Laz again made a lovely play jumping the WR on his route and picking off the Norfolk QB with 1:35 left, game won!
Final Score: 35 – 0

Week 13 Vs Dallas Birddogs
Week 13 saw arguably one of the Pythons biggest game of the season, when they took on Dallas Birddogs, a win here regardless of what happened elsewhere would see them secure a playoff spot in S30. The Pythons won a toss in what seemed like the first time in ages and elected to kick to the start the game. The game couldn’t have started any better for the Pythons with two sack on the first two plays one by the rookie S. Multiauaopele and one by E. Hord. Though a fantastic punt saw the Pythons start their first drive from there own 9-yard line. A very promising looking drive with a nice combination of thrown, run and play actions swathe Pythons move the ball to Dallas’s 28-yard line over 13 plays, where they were unable to convert and thus settle for a FG. Dallas started their drive off fantastically with a lovely 44-yard rush which looked certain for a TD until Elliot Hord made a last ditch tackle, saving the score. Though unfortunately 3 plays later the Birddogs got the TD, taking an early 7 – 3 lead. The next Pythons drive never really looked like it was going to get anywhere and after one nice 12-yard pass by the TE Mark Goodhead, were forced to punt for their own 46-yard line. Dallas’s next drive was riddled with penalties and so punted not long after the start of the second quarter, yes a very quick 1st quarter of play. A very promising Pythons drive of 10 plays was brought to an abrupt stop when Panda was sacked for 10-yards on a 3rd and short and thus were forced to Punt, the Pythons really looked like they were going to score then. A straight 4 and out by Dallas saw the Pythons get the ball quickly after they’d lost it, unfortunately they had it for even less time as Panda was picked off by Dallas for 10-yard INT. One snap 1 INT not the play the Pythons needed at this point, and so with 5:00 left in the 2nd quarter Dallas were in a prime spot to extend their lead. And that is what they did, a solid drive of 11 strong rushing plays saw them get to the Pythons 16-yard line, where the Pythons defence held them to only a FG. With 80s left on the clock the Pythons came out full air raid style to try and get a score to bring the game to a one score game. A clutch catch for 16-yard by the wavier signing T.Barnes saw the Pythons convert on 3 and 10, and then a lovely missed tackle by Tay Swizzle saw the Pythons within FG with 6s, which they converted for score of 6 – 10.
Half Time Score: 6 – 10
The second half started like Madden arcade mode, with the first snap being picked off by Dallas on the Pythons own 19-yard line, the next play Dallas produced a lovely play for a TD. Not the start the Pythons needed, though straight back the rookie QB Sailor found Tay Swizzle for an 84-yard TD, the longest in Python’s history. So to sum up 3 plays, 1 INT and 2 TD, mad! To top it all off the Pythons went for a 2-point conversion and were unable to convert. So, the score stayed 12 – 17. Surly the game couldn’t continue like this for the rest of the game? A nice sack by R Stanzi but stop to any chance of another score by the Birddogs. Would you believe it Sailor was picked off on the Pythons first snap for another INT, and so the Pythons had had 3 snaps in the 2nd half which had resulted in 2 INT and 1 TD, mad! A very methodical drive by the Birddogs saw them chip away at not only the time left in the game but also the Pythons spirt, a 9 play drive did only see them score a FG so not all that bad for the Pythons. The Pythons really need a strong drive to establish their offence and give their defence so time to recover. And that is sort of what they got a 50-yard reception to Calvin Hobbes saw them swap field position, however they were then unable to get much more and settled for a FG. A poorly timed face mask penalties saw the Pythons give valuable yardage to the Birddogs in the ember of the 3rd quarter and were able to snatch a return FG. At the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 15 – 23. Close but they Pythons needed something special if they were to win this game. And that is what they got a lovely 50-yard rush by Jax Baker saw the Pythons start the 4th quarter on Dallas’s 17-yard line, where another crazy play with Panda being sacked by Dallas by the play was deemed to be unnecessary roughness and so the Pythons were give a first down on the 1-yard line, where Jax Baker duly rushed through for the TD, a solid start but still a lot of work to be done. A 2nd failed 2 point try has seen they Python’s waste 2 point – would this come back to bite at the end of the game? A nice sack on the first snap for Dallas saw them face an impossible 3 and 19 and so were forced to punt, with more solid field position the Pythons really need something from this drive. With a 48-yard rush by Noah Jones the omen did point toward that, before disaster and recovered fumble by Dallas, on their own 11-yard line, curly took momentum away from the Pythons, strong play was need by the defence again to keep the team in contention. And as with so many time this season they did, a straight 4 and out, holing Dallas to no yard on their own 6-yard line, gave the Pythons the best chance to score a TD. Who would be the offensive hero, it was of course Calvin Hobbes, who converted a lovely pass from sailor for a 34-yard TD, this time the Pythons took the 1-poinmt options, and were finally leading the game 28 – 23? Could the defence make one more amazing play to secure the Pythons a playoff spot? No a very sold drive of 12 plays over 6:42 saw Dallas move the ball from their own 25-yard line to score on from the Pythons 2-yard line, and so with 1:18 the Pythons needed a FG to win. One strong play one hero and the Pythons were making the playoff. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case as some strong defending saw Dallas hold the Pythons in the Pythons own half and so lost the game 29 – 28. The best game of the season was an horrible loss for the Pythons who would now need to win their last game of the season to secure that desirable playoff spot.
Final Score: 28 – 29

Week 14 Vs Tijuana Luchadors
Well a close loss to the Dallas Birddogs meant that the Pythons needed to win this game to secure there spot in the playoff could they do it? The game started with the Pythons losing the toss, again, and receiving the ball. A very well put together drive with some nice rush and pass aided by some poorly timed penalties by Tijuana saw Noah Jones power his way for a 2-yard TD. The Pythons had their perfect start. In return Tijuana put together own strong drive, over 11 plays eventually scoring a TD off a 12-yard pass. During that drive Teddy Murphey secure his 6th sack of the season. So 2 drive in 2TD and only 1:28 left in the 1st quarter. Two straight 4 and out saw the conclusion of the 1st quarter, with the scores being level at 7 apiece. A missed 49-yard FG at the start of the 2nd quarter wasn’t the start the Pythons needed, especially as Tijuana were able to string another strong drive and score their own FG, still only 3-points in it, but with the momentum heading Tijuana’s way. A 4 and out saw Tijuana get a good amount of time to try and take a commanding lead into the second half, however S. Multiauaopele found his way through the O-line to record his 4th sack of the season. This meant that the Pythons had 1:51 with the ball on their own 49-yard to try and get a score and possibly take that all important lead into half time. Lots of completed passes saw the Pythons quickly march into FG range, but were not able to threaten for a TD and so settled for a FG with 59s left to play. Not much happened in the last minute of the 1st half thanks to a lovely sack by the rookie R.L. Stine, his 1st of the year. And so at half time the scores were 10 – 10.
Half Time: 10 – 10
A very poor third quarter saw the Pythons unable to find any decent play on both sides of the ball, with the largest gain being a 7-yard pass completion out of 17 plays, a very disappointing display for sure. The defence tried to hold Tijuana back as much as possible but with such short rest between plays and a relentless Tijuana who could sense blood they conceded 2 TD and a FG, in a quarter that went 17- 0 to Tijuana, had the Pythons lost all chance of a playoff run in a single quarter? The 4th quarter was a closer afire but uninspiring with either team failing to score or light up the defence, was this a sign that both team were feeling the fatigue of the season or just one of those games? A so the Pythons lost their final game of the season, meaning that they need the KCC to loss to the BUCCs to ensure they reached the playoff to play MGD. The KCC did end up loosing to the BUCC’s and so the Pythons are heading to the PLAYOFFS!!!!
Final Score: 10 – 27
