Following yet another disappointing end of a high-hopes season in Austin, Sophomore General Manager Austin Steve of the Austin Copperheads has high hopes of re-signing Juno Hu, but apparently nobody has heard from the veteran cornerback for months. Other teams have reportedly reached out to Hu as well in hopes of contract talks for the upcoming season, especially with OTAs already on the way and training camp fast approaching, but no party has reported any calls or messages being returned. This isn't necessarily out of the ordinary, as Hu has been known to take extensive breaks following the conclusion of seasons for long retreats and time away from football, however Hu has previously provided ETAs on his returns.
The extended radio silence prompted Austin Steve to request a wellness check on Hu. Two responding officers approached the Hu residence to find the home seemingly abandoned for months, with a faint rotting odor emanating from within. After some investigation of the outside premises, the officers forced entry into the building to find a gruesome scene. Within the bedroom, male remains were found sealed within a vacuum bed. Tissue samples from the body were sent into a lab for DNA testing, as the body was unrecognizable due to heavy decomposition. The cause of death was presumed to have been asphyxiation, thought to perhaps be sexual in nature due to a number of various accessories found in and around the body. Dental records were also used to try and confirm the identity of the body, but neither matched with Juno Hu. The body remains unidentified as of the time of this report.
The discovery of the body has elevated the case from a missing person's case to a potential murder. The main suspect is of course the star cornerback. Hu's cell phone was found dead within the house. Records showed that the phone had last pinged roughly 3 months ago. Hu's vehicles were parked in the driveway and garage, seemingly untouched for months, as a layer of dust and dirt had started to collect. Other than his parents, there are no known relatives, and Hu's presumed friends were not able to provide any useful information.
Entryway to the basement was heavily secured, but authorities were able to gain access using breach charges. Within was an elaborate underground labyrinth, with several "sensory depravation chambers". Large amounts of contraband and trade-restricted lab equipment were also found and have been confiscated.
The case was eventually escalated to the FBI. With the help of the NSA, they were able to find a lead using facial recognition technology: footage of Juno Hu purchasing a pre-paid cell phone from a P-Mobile store in East Austin. Records of the cell phone were analyzed, leading to the takedown of an ID and documentation forgery operation headed by a 69-year-old Rene Murphy. The efforts of multiple detectives and agents were able to pinpoint a name: Noah Bahdi.
The only known records of an individual named Noah Bahdi are on the records of flight MX518, which departed from Austin, TX to Tijuana, Mexico on April 16th, 2049 at 22:30 local time. Unfortunately, the trail quickly goes cold from there. While Mexico lies outside of the FBI's jurisdiction, US Marshalls are working with the Mexican government to conduct a continent-wide manhunt. The passport photo of Noah Bahdi is presented below.
The FBI have put forth a reward of $500,000 for any information that may lead to the whereabouts of Juno Hu / Noah Bahdi. If there are any updates to this story, we will of course be sure to update you.
