Congratulations to the Season 35 DSFL All-Pro Team!
QUARTERBACK
Queen Elizabeth II
All hail the Queen! After Her Majesty cleaned out all the traitors in her midst, she surrounded herself with a sure-handed and speedy entourage, and what a fruitful plan that was. Elizabeth II had a magical season, blowing the competition out of the water with a total of 4,543 passing yards, almost 1,100 more than the next quarterback. Her merry band further enabled her to throw 27 touchdowns, helping her earn a Passer Rating of 94.01, two more league-leading stats. An Ultimini victory would have been the brightest jewel in her crown, but alas, Kansas City fell just short. Despite that, Elizabeth II has a chance for a repeat performance as three of her original cortège will accompany her once more.
Key Stats: 4,543 Passing Yards, 27 Passing TDs, 14 INTs, Comp% 60.75%, Passer Rtg 94.01
RUNNING BACK
Jarvis Harbinger-Marjin
JHM. The Demon Prince of Running Backs. The man put up a performance that can only be described as godlike, Infernal heritage notwithstanding. A relatively low YPC means nothing in the face of almost 100 more carries than second place, and 19 TDs stands only two off the DSFL season record. JHM’s hellish endurance helped make him an integral part of Portland’s always-reliable offense.
Key Stats: 357 Carries, 1466 Yards, 19 TDs; 17 Receptions, 103 Yards, 1 RecTD
Lenny Lyons
Lyons shows up here as the focal point of London’s run-first offense. Almost 5 YPC and almost 100 yards per game meant that Lenny headlined one of the two best rushing attacks in the DSFL. 15 TDs on the ground is good for 2nd most in the league, and stands head and shoulders above the rest of the nominees.
Key Stats: 276 Carries, 1371 Yards, 15 TDs; 22 Receptions, 173 Yards, 1RecTD
WIDE RECEIVER
Maximilian Hamilton
No disrespect to the Dobbler, but Hamilton was the main man in Tijuana’s WR room, and was a major driving force behind the high-powered Luchador offense as a whole. Maximilian’s 12 TDs stands above every other WR in the DSFL, while his catch rate and total yardage also place him among the DSFL elite.
Key Stats: 79 Receptions, 1204 Yards, 12 TDs
Leek Mai-Heinous
Leek stands out as the only other DSFL WR to crack double digit touchdowns with 10. The lone bright spot in Dallas’ offense, Leek single-handedly kept the Birddogs in otherwise lost games with one of the league’s highest YPR and an absurd 10 catches going for more than 40 yards.
Key Stats: 69 Receptions, 1182 Yards, 10 TDs
Thomas Robinson
Robinson makes the cut as the lead wideout on a very run-heavy team in Norfolk. In spite of that scheme, he still managed to make a name for himself as one of the most dangerous receivers in the league, in large part due to his reliability. 9 TDs is nothing to scoff at, and a relatively low YPR is more than made up for by the highest catch rate and lowest drop rate in the DSFL.
Key Stats: 84 Receptions, 1017 Yards, 9 TDs
TIGHT END
American Boot
American Boot had a standout season catching the ball for the Buccaneers(which I still have trouble spelling every time). Boot, a team captain this season, led all TEs in receiving yards and touchdowns and was significantly ahead of most of the rest of the competition. If that wasn’t good enough to get the nod, Boot also led all tight ends in yards per reception, was third in yards per target, had the most 20+ yard receptions, and had the second most receiving first downs among all tight ends. Truly, Boot had an impressive season and the voters were quick to recognize this. The captain stepped up in a big way this season.
Key Stats: 789 receiving yards, 6 TDs, 15.17 yards/reception, 22 receiving first downs (42.3%).
Eeeeee Phenssta
Phenssta, another captain at tight end, had an impressive season, not necessarily due to receiving, but due to impacting the game in multiple ways. Phenssta was on the field for 1,243 plays, leading all tight ends. During that time, Eeeeeeee picked up a position-leading 34 pancakes on the season, allowing only 2 sacks. Phennsta also managed a couple receiving touchdowns on 369 (nice?) yards and picking up 15 first downs. Phenssta’s contribution on the passing attack is nothing to write home about, but when combined with 34 pancakes (next highest was 22) and the sheer number of plays they were on the field, they got the nod to fill out the TE position. The blocking archetype works, friends.
Key Stats: 34 pancakes, 369 yards, 2 TDs
OFFENSIVE LINE
Editors notes: Due to a lower number of awards eligible offensive linemen this season, we reduced the number of OL spots from three to two for Season 35
JT Kurbis
JT Kurbis has had a breakout year for the Coyotes. Twitter extraordinaire and Pancake enthusiast are two of the common traits that Kurbis gets to put on his resume. As our pancake leader as a rookie, he’s been vital to Kansas City’s pass-first offense and found himself on our OL All-Pro Team.
Key Stats: 68 Pancakes, 3 Sacks Allowed
Dennis Rodman :Luchadores:
Dennis Rodman is my dude. This guy blocks for sure. We got him lining up at tackle for this last season. For the first 75% of the year, he had 0 sacks allowed credited to him by our lovely sim. Guy is top 3 rookie OL for pancakes and has 1 sack allowed on the year. It’s a no-brainer pick for us here. Welcome to the team.
Key Stats: 56 Pancakes, 1 Sack Allowed
DEFENSIVE TACKLE
Editor’s note: You will notice two notable DTs not in this list - Xavier Valorian and Absolute Unit. Both lined up exclusively at Defensive End in a 4-3 system this season. The committee decided they should be stacked up against that player pool.
Nathan Meagher
Meagher had a nice rookie season that saw him make a difference by generating turnovers and stopping plays in their tracks. Tied for first of all Defensive Tackles with 2 Forced Fumbles and 1 Fumble Recovery, Meagher provided another avenue for the Buccaneers to retrieve the ball. To add to this already impressive stat, Meagher was able to generate a safety, a rarity in the DSFL with its short schedule, which is simply impressive.
Key Stats: 31 Tackles, 5 TFL, 2/1 FF/FR,1 Safety
DEFENSIVE END
Jean-Ralphio Saperstein
Yes, you read that sack total correctly. 18. This rookie broke the All-Time DSFL sack record without much difficulty and provided the Kansas City defense with enough juice to see an Ultimini game. With the addition of 3 Forced Fumbles (2 of them recovered), Saperstein was an instant pick by our team. There was simply no one better at this position.
Key Stats: 38 Tackles, 18 Sacks, 3/2 FF/FR
Xavier Valorian
Key Stats: 11 TFL, 13 Sacks
Absolute Unit
Key Stats: 7 TFL, 10 sacks, 2/1 FF/FR
It would be impossible to talk about one of the Pythons DEs without the other as it was their combination that was so deadly. Not only did they each have solid individual stats, as a unit (pun not intended) they were unstoppable. Between 18 TFL and 23 sacks combined, they led a Python’s defense to a dominant season which allowed Portland to see a Conference Championship game. Offensive lines often found themselves in the inevitable position of having to choose which of these two were being blocked because you could never block both. That they would share the Defensive Line together again on the All-Pro team was natural.
Editor’s note: With only one spot going to an active Defensive Tackle this season, we decided to open up another spot for a third Defensive End to keep the defensive line at four spots in total.
LINEBACKER
Akaki Akyre
One of the pillars of Portland's stout defense, Akayre was a player the offense had to keep an eye on. His size belied his speed and agility as the moment you lost track of him, you would either find out too late that he had slithered his way into the backfield or that he had jumped your pass to an underneath route and was taking it the other way. His strongest asset was his knack for reading a QB's motions as he tied for second among LBs in passes defended with 10.
Key Stats: 97 Tcks, 16 TFL, 6 Sacks, 2 FFs, 2 FRs, 4 Ints, 10 PDs, Catch% 52.27%
Kevin McThumper
McThumper was a middle linebacker's middle linebacker and one of the few bright spots in BBB's dismal season. His motor never stopped, and he seemingly had some magnetic force that pulled him to any ball-carriers, as you could constantly find him at the bottom of a dogpile. In Week 10, he set the single game record with 18 tackles. He looked to be en route to break the season record, but offenses began playing around him to avoid his dominance, and dominant he was, as he tied for first in tackles and tackles for loss among linebackers.
Key Stats: 121 Tacks, 16 TFL, 7 Sacks, 2 FF, 1 Int, 7 PDs, Tck% 96.03%
CORNERBACK
Graham Harper
Back-to-back first overall pick, Graham Harper is one of the hottest rookies we’ve seen in the DSFL in a long time, and after his Season 35 campaign which saw him walk away an Ultimini champion, it’s easy to see why. Harper finished the season second in the league in both interceptions and passes defended, and allowed opposing QBs to complete a paltry 59% of the passes thrown in his direction.
Key Stats: 59.09% CtA, 2 FF, 5 INT, 27 PDs, 1 DTD
Mabel Pines
Two Cornerback spots and two fresh faces to occupy them. While Pines may not have had the interceptions to her name like Harper did, she did something at a rate no one else did this season - deny the football. Her 52% catches allowed rate was a big reason why the Luchadores finished the regular season with the top record in the DSFL, and she led the league by swatting away 22% of the passes thrown her way for PDs.
Key Stats: 52% CtA, 2 INT, 28 PDs
SAFETY
Teemo Swift
Teemo Swift was one of the most hyped players heading into the ISFL S36 draft, and with good reason. Swift, managed by user Repgnar, was one of the top defenders last season and would have led the Grey Ducks to a playoff berth save for a string of tough losses. Swift was near the top of the board for both free and strong safeties in every category and topped the FS charts in tackles. Their best performance came in Week 12 against the Luchadores with 7 Tck, 1 Int, and 1 Def TD.
Key Stats: 52 TCK, 2 FF, 4 INTs, 8 PDs, 1 TD
Ja’uan Holland
Not to be outdone by his All-Pro contemporary, Ja’uan Holland was a standout even amongst a secondary loaded with talented players. Holland’s play helped lead the Seawolves to an Ultimini victory, backed by a T-2nd 10 PDs and T-1st 3 INTs among strong safeties. Without the contributions of Holland, it’s possible we have a different champion in the DSFL for S35.
Key Stats: 57 TCK, 2 FF, 3 INTs, 10 PDs
KICKER
Savathun T. Witchqueen
Few kickers could match the volume and accuracy that Savathun Witchqueen put up this season. The Witchqueen had plenty of opportunities in Tijuana to make a name for themselves and they capitalized on chance. Leading the league in field goal percentage with a minimum of 20 kicks and tied in second for extra points created a clear number one for kickers. An interesting stat here is that Savathun was 11 for 11 on field goals in the 30-39 yard range and had 0 attempts in the 50+ category.
Key Stats: 41 XPM on 95.3%, 22 FGM on 84.6%, season long of 47
PUNTER
Savathun T. Witchqueen
While the All Pro Kicker title was clear cut, the punter nominee was a much closer race. Once voting was concluded though, Savathun Withqueen was awarded All Pro Punter as well. While Savathun was able to benefit from the high-powered Tijuana offense with volume when it came to kicking, the opposite was true when it came to punting. Savathun only had the 6th most punts in the league and was also 6th in total punting yards. While no kickers separated themselves from the 42 or so yards per punt average, Savathun separated themselves with punts inside the 20. Savathun led the league with 26 total, an impressive 42% of their punts. An impressive season for Savathun concludes with both the All-Pro Kicker and All-Pro punter designation.
Key Stats: 26 Punts Inside the 20, Season Long of 62 Yards
RETURNER
Ja’uan Holland
While this player may not have had the most volume when it came to returns, the highlights more than made up for it. Ja’uan managed to have the highest kick return yards average and respectable punt return average. While some may point out the lower total kick return attempts, there’s no denying the impact this player had with even less opportunities. Holland managed to find the end zone twice while on special teams. What’s even more impressive is the fact he returned both in the same game. We’re done though as they were both accomplished in the first quarter. Holland started with an 80 yard punt return halfway through the quarter to tie the game up. After Norfolk gave up a rushing touchdown with 3 seconds left in the first, Holland then returned the kick off for 101 yards. While other returners may have had a higher volume and similar averages, it would be impossible to fault voters for rewarding what may have been the greatest returning performance ever in the league.
Key Stats: 80 yard punt return, 101 yard kick return, 23.9 yard kick return average
