It finally happened! The boys were able to walk off the home field with our first win of the season, the crowd was electric! I'm grateful they've stuck with us through the ups and downs. I'm also grateful to my teammates who have done the same because it's easy to quit, It's easy to become discouraged, and lose interest in winning. But we did what we said we were gonna do, we took the L's and learned from them and put that energy onto the field when it mattered most. And that's part of the progress, learning from your mistakes and using what you've learned to benefit your team.
That win though! Feels fantastic, and I know it's "JuSt OnE WiN bRo" but we're gonna enjoy this moment and get right back to work! This win should have come earlier, in my opinion, No offence to the Yotes, but we should have won that football game, that game was truly a stepping stone for the Birddogs but we just didn't execute, and we had to wait a little longer. You know what they say "Back to the drawing board" And something like that can really fuel your team, along with constant noise on socials. Yes, you hate to see it but you did it to yourself and no one looks good trying to defend their team when they lost, so instead of responding to "hate" you have to really buckle down and not let anything distract you.
I understand that hypothetically we are most likely out of the playoffs unless by some miracle we can win out the rest of the season, along with a couple of teams losing certain games, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what this team can do, at this very moment I have no interest in the "Big League" I want to focus on the task at hand. Getting better every week and trying to get this team to where it deserves to be! I understand that the main goal is to develop yourself to be ready for the ISFL but one thing at a time, let's not only be ready for when it comes but let's try and look good while doing it!
