ISFL Scouting Combine
Season 33 Edition
The results of the annual workout day for ISFL prospects are here, and this season's class of forty-eight have subjected themselves to the annual spectacle that is the ISFL Scouting Combine. Anyway, as usual, the scouting combine took place over a few days, giving ISFL front office people a chance to get a look at their potential draft selections. Now I understand that this is a fair few seasons late, and yeah it just is. Lets start with the QB's.
So 4 QB’s are the first too hit the field. Two QB’s certainly excelled in the Wonderlic test (K. Shinomiya & C. Marciano) the other two (T. Jordan & R. Anderson) maybe aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, however they do make up for it other areas. T. Jordan is a very very good explosive athlete, crushing the Boards & vertical jump with a very solid 40-yard dash time as well. R. Anderson
Quarterbacks

Running Backs
Eight running backs took to the field. There were some very impressive performances from this group. Let's start with the most notable and that was “The Stig” who set a blister 40-yard dash time of 4.25s. This was the joint quickest time (tying Emondov Emoji time from Season 15) ever seen in the ISFL combine. Surprisingly five of the RB all scored a rather worrying 7 on the wonderlic test, however this test was saved by Cole Deviney scoring 25. Videl Valor had one of the best second half of the ISFL combine seen in recent times, posting fantastic performances in multiple events, Vertical & Board jumps & the 3-cone & shuttle. "The Stig" continued his fine performance in the combine with super speedy time posted in the 3-cone, board & vertical jumps. Certainly, a player to watch in the upcoming draft.
Wide Receivers
The WR is normally one of the largest groups of players that take to the field at the combine and this year is no exception, 8 WR were on the field showing off what they could do. Marvin Toledo produced one of the best combines seen in recent memory, setting the score and timing alight in almost every single test. He set class leading times in 5 of the 7 events, with second place in the sixth. The only test that he wasn’t a class leader was the 3-cone event. He was in a class above the rest of the receivers in the wonderlic test scoring 29, the next highest was 20, the same was seen in the bench press with Marvin Toledo almost doubling the next best receiver. Excluding Marvin Toledo, the rest of the receivers were more closely matched.
Tight Ends
Only two tight ends were in the draft class, Molki Koivu & Sandwich Maker. It is evident that Molki Koivu was the standout performer posting the best (admittedly out of two) performances in each test. When comparing Molki to the WR, he compares very well and was the 3rd best performance.
Offensive Lineman
Another small class of offensive lineman, with only three taking to the field. Similar to the tight ends, there was a singular standout performance from D’Nickashaw Mangoldson, who like Molki posted the best performance for each test. D’Nickashaw Mangoldson was so close to running a sub 5s 40-yard dash falling 0.02s short. Ay Tuh & Pablo Pomblo were very closely matched across the test sharing 2nd places almost evenly.
Defensive Lineman
A good turnout for defensive lineman this draft with 7 raw prospects taking to the field to show the scouts what they can do. Two of the linemen here are part of the turtle quartet, with Raphael & Leonardo Mcturtle showing what they can do. They certainly didn’t disappoint, the two were closely matched throughout the combine, however Leonardo came out on top. Another top prospect Greg Strongjaw showed exactly what he could by putting in a consistent performance across the whole combine, eventually coming out as the second-best defensive lineman prospect of the class, closely followed by Rapheal McTurtle.
Linebacker
Five impressive well-built linebacker took part in the combine this season, this was a highly tight & close fort combine display between the linebackers. By the end of the combine, Daron Arnold appeared to be the standout performer. He led the linebacker in all of the combine test expect the wonderlick test 7 three cones.
Defensive Backs
The final group of non-special teams' players are the defensive back, here we had six players take the field. The combination of both cornerbacks & safeties should provide many an exciting display of prowess. King Zues & Dax Dangerfeild lit the stadium alight with some sizzling performances in the combine. Across the three timed combine events they were separated by only 0.12s, around half the time of a human reaction time, simply amazing athletes. A strong performance from Talen Farrens saw him fly up the scouts' draft ranking and could be a steal midway through the draft.
Kicker / Punter
Now we jump to the fun of the kicker challenge, as who would ever want to see the kicker running the 40-yard dash or the bench press, as much fun as that would seem I’m not sure the scouts or GM’s present would be able to gain any useful insights into them. With only two kickers taking to the field, we’ve got a straight fight. Double Doink & Daybe Downbad stepped out, based on college performances we know that Double Doink was the slightly more accurate kicker with Daybe Downbad as the more powerful. As the competition started at the 20-yard line both kickers were able to put all six kicks through the uprights. The ball then got placed at the 30-yard line and the first crack started to show, Double Doink was only missed one of his kicks however Daybe Downbad missed three, giving Double Doink a lead. The 40 yard was a far closer afire with both Double & Daybe missing 4 of the 9. AS they moved to the 50-yard line, the extra accuracy of Doink became evident, missing only 1 of the 9, a very impressive feat, however Daybe missed 6 of 9. This all but gave the win to Doink. As a bit of fun both kickers decided to move the ball to the 60-yard line, here rather against the run of play Daybe was able to put all three kicks through the uprights, with Doink only managing one.
To wrap things up, some notes about this season’s combine:
Wonderlic:
Not a surprise here but the top results were from QB's with Kaguya almost equaling the top results ever seen (45) with 44
40 Yard Dash:
The Stig (RB) set the joint fastest ever seen clocking in with a time of 4.25s
Bench Press:
By no means the strongest class here, D’Nickashaw Mangoldson (OL) & Raphael McTurtle (DL) were the strongest of the class but were only able to record 34.
Three Cone Drill:
The quickest run of the three-cone drill was done by Videl Valor (RB), second place was a three-way tie only 0.05s. The biggest surprise was Leonardo McTurtle (DL) only 0.05s from the the top result of the class. That has to be the quickest DL in history.
Vertical Jump:
A recurring name here, but Leonardo McTurtle (DL) led the class in the vertical jump with a height of 33..3" a fair way off the top of all time but clear of second place.
Broad Jump:
DB's took the top two spots here with King Zues (DB) leading the class with a results of 131.9. A now what should be unsurprising result but Leonardo McTurtle (DL) came in third place.
Shuttle Run:
The Stig (RB) again ran the quickest shuttle run here with a time of 4.01.
