You might remember I tried this a few seasons ago, but now I am broke and need some money, so it’s making a permanent return! So let’s jump right into it, the beginning of a new season!

Chicago travelled to Sarasota to kick off the new season. Sarasota jumped out to an early 14-0 lead on the back of a passing score from Willier Miller and a 5 yard Pete Zuh touchdown run. The Butchers struck back with Lalu Muhammad Zahri getting in the end zone to make it 14-7. At the end of the half, Sarasota is up 21-7. Miller throws it to the end zone again, finding Rockbot Rockbo for the touchdown, making it 28-7. Miller gets it to Rockbo once more, and the Sailfish lead 35-10. Miller gets intercepted by King Zeus and Painted Penguin throws it to Jimmy Ryder for the Butchers touchdown. Miller completes a 3rd touchdown pass to Rockbo, and the Sailfish are commanding this one 42-17. Penguins to Ryder is a winner once again, making it 42-24. With 30 seconds left, Penguin finds Walter McKinley to make it 45-31. The Sailfish defend their home turf nicely, starting the season undefeated.

Danny Nedelko caught it up, and Maxwell Jacob Friedman falls on top of it for the Hahalua turnover. Bean Delphine Jr. punches it in to make it 10-0. Maxwell Jacob Friedman stole the show for the Hahalua today, racking up 8 tackles, 2 TFLs, a forced fumble and fumble recovery, as well as an interception. This incredible all-around performance makes him the player of the game.

The only teams in the ISFL with two-word names go head to head, as Berlin travels to New Orleans. Nothing of note happened in the first, but the second quarter is when the action really started to pick up. Kyle Crane carries it for a yard and the score to give the Second Line a 7-0 lead. Really Creative-Name gets it from Roque Santa-Cruz and the Fire Salamanders tie it up. We enter halftime at 7-7. PeePee Poop-Eater Sr. takes the 75 yard pass from Elessar Jones for the touchdown. Santa-Cruz ties it up again with the pass to Zayne Daigle for the score. Known Acquaintance gives Berlin their first lead of the game with 56 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, they lead 17-14. Alfonso Dos Santos ties it up in the 4th quarter with a 44 yard kick. Cape The Party Rhino runs it in for a Berlin touchdown, and that will win them the game. Berlin takes this one 24-17.
Roque Santa-Cruz stood out in this one, completing 77% of his passes for 347 yards and 2 touchdowns with no turnovers. His great play lead the Fire Salamanders to victory, and it leads him to be the player of the game.

The Otters make their way to Austin with both teams looking to start their season on the right foot. Leander Diarra kicks off the scoring with a 7 yard touchdown reception from Adrian St. Christmas. In the 2nd quarter, Jeremy Crouse Jr. boots the 37 yard kick through the uprights to make it 10-0. Charlie Beown responds with a 34 yard kick to make it a 7 point game. With 1:47 left in the half, Tyler One expands the lead with an 8 yard touchdown. Orange County starts to run away with this one, after 2 made field goals from Crouse, then another Diarra touchdown catch to seal the deal. Zaphod Beeblebrox tries his hardest with a touchdown catch late, but it doesn’t come soon enough and Orange County takes this one 30-10.
Tyler One made his presence felt on the field today, with 17 carries totaling 103 yards and a touchdown. This performance earns him the player of the game award.

The defending champs defend not only their crown, but their home turf this week against the Wraiths. Jarvis Harbinger-Marjin kicks things off with a 3 yard touchdown, followed by Creg Jerrith IV getting it to Kairo Knight for a 10 yard touchdown. At the start of the 2nd, the Crash lead 14-0. Nakari Ayame runs it up the gut for a 3 yard score. To close out the half, Bob Kickerson nails a 51 yarder to make it 24-0. Kumquat Archipelago sparks a fire under Yellowknife with a 13 yard touchdown to make it 24-7. After another Kickerson field goal, Calvin Spliff takes the pass from Absolute Unit for a 16 yard touchdown. Jerrith gets it to Harbinger-Marjin for a 1 yard score to make it 34-14. Unit to Spliff finds the end zone once more, and it’s 34-21. Despite another Spliff touchdown, Harbinger-Marjorie called game with a 30 yard run to win the game 41-28.
Jarvis Harbinger-Marjin had himself a day through the air and on the ground. He had 17 carries for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns to go with 5 receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown, making him the player of the game.

San Jose visited New York with both teams determined to prove themselves as contenders. The first quarter consisted of a kicking battle, with the score after 1 being 3-3. The scoring opened up in the 2nd quarter, with Owen Farrell getting it to Otto The Orange for the 19 yard touchdown. New York responded with a Blaine Falco TD to Sean Robinson. After halftime, New York took command of the game, with a Blaine Falco TD run and a 46 yard Wing Wang field goal. New York leads 20-10. The Sabercats make an improbable fourth quarter comeback, sparked by a 30 yard Booter McGavin field goal. Lord Farquaads tied it up with a 1 yard run. Finally, Booter McGavin booted a 54 yarder through the uprights to win it for San Jose, 23-20.
The player of the game for this one was a little harder to choose, Sconnie McSix tallied 7 receptions for 123 yards in the win, so he’ll earn the honors for this one.

The last game of the week featured Colorado making the trip to Maryland to take on the Hawks. Preston Beatz threw the first score of the game to Shane Turnball, 7-0 Baltimore. Wolfie McDummy Jr. responded with a 17 yard touchdown to Eeeeeeee Phenssta to tie it up. Turnball caught another touchdown, this time from 71 yards out to make it 14-7. Ceti Pyxis gets in on the fun, catching an 11 yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14. Phenssta makes another touchdown catch, and Baltimore leads by 7. Mike Makmur kicks the longest field goal of the week, a 57 yarder to end the half and give Baltimore a 24-14 lead. Colorado wouldn’t score in the 2nd half, with Baltimore piling it on via another Turnball score and Antoine Winfield Jr getting a pick six. Baltimore routs the Yeti 44-14.
Player of the game honors were extremely difficult for this one, as Shane Turnball, Antoine Winfield Jr. and Preston Beatz all had phenomenal performances. I think the award has to go to Shane Turnball for his 6 reception, 121 yard, 3 touchdown performance.
So who will be the first recipient of Void’s Player Of The Week for Season 42? I have to give it to Willier Miller for his 342 yard, 5 touchdown performance that led the Sailfish to victory. So that’ll do it for week 1 of S42. With week 2 soon approaching, the question looms who will be week 2’s player of the week? Tune in next week to find out!
