Hello to all ISFL General Managers,
I hope this letter reaches you in good health. I know as the playoffs begin, many scouting departments are beginning to look and find some diamonds in the rough to add to their teams for success in the future. So now I will provide this open scouting letter for all teams to use to be able to scout me. If all your questions were not answered, or you just want to reach out and talk some more, definitely do so as soon as your earliest convenience. Let’s begin:
1. Who are you?
My name is Brandon Johnson and I am currently the RB2 on the Tijuana Luchadores in the DSFL. I joined the league a bit later than my fellow compadres, but have continued to earn at a relatively competitive pace to hopefully be able to catch up with the rest of the pack.
2. What do you want from a locker room?
Engagement and community, whether a win or a loss. Being able to check in and know how everyone’s doing, or just shoot the shit about the latest free agent signings (Mike Evans got HOW MUCH?!?!). Nothings worse then a locker room with nobody talking except for the occasional check in here and there.
3. Do you want to be called up immediately or are you okay waiting a bit in the DSFL?
I have no problems waiting for my turn in the DSFL. I expect to not be called up until the team that drafts me is ready to use my player to help them fully succeed overall, otherwise why rush the call up. Chilling in Tijuana is fantastic and I would finally be able to get some snaps at RB1.
4. How do you plan to make money/what league jobs are you looking into?
For making money right now I create graphics and some media articles (like the one you’re reading right now) to help be able to afford my weekly trainings. I plan to start up a podcast once I can actually be able to solidify my schedule outside of the league (and hopefully be able to be a commentator on a game or two sometime). As for league jobs, really whatever becomes available seems like it would be a fun job for me. I’ve applied for a couple open positions and unfortunately did not earn any of them but will continue to look for one myself.
5. How comfortable are you with the sim?
I’ve been sim testing for Tijuana for a bit now and am still attempting to get it more automated to be able to assist with better testing then just doing 25 tests in an hour. So for whatever franchise does draft me, I will be willing to sim test strategy for the best chances of winnings.
6. How involved in the team would you want to be?
Personally I would love to be a part of my ISFLs war room, being a part of the decision process and assisting the scouting department each and every year. I’m already a part of Tijuanas war room and would like to continue and take what I have learned in there onto my new franchise to help us achieve the end goal of an Ultimus.
7. Are you open to position switching?
The big question and the main reason I am writing this article. Big announcement to ALL teams:
I will switch to whatever position leads to team success. View me not as a running back, but as an empty slate to be put wherever the team needs. Scout me as you would an athlete in NCAA.
That being said I do have a list of preferred positions to play, separated by tiers. Tier I is my most preferred, and only goes down from there:
Tier I
Running Back, Wide Receiver, Cornerback
Tier II
Linebacker, Defensive Line, Tight End, Safety
Tier III
Kicker, Quarterback, Punter
Tier IV
Offensive Line
Note that this is just my overall preference, but I would more then likely be willing to switch to any of these positions if I had a decent conversation with my franchises general managers. At the end of the day my goal for my player is to win games. If I have to switch positions to increase the likelihood of our team hoisting up the trophy at the end of the season, then that is alright with me. Team first, stats second.
8. Any niche things?
I want to have a contract with the most clauses ever. None of these will be serious, most as jokes, but I want to break the record for most clauses in a single contract which I do believe to currently be 37. So I want to put 38 clauses in my contract. I also wouldn’t mind taking less guranteed money and doing an incentive based contract, betting on myself and going against the sim. Something for us to discuss later.
Once again I hope this letter helps the general managers make a decision on what to do with their third/fourth round picks.
Respectfully,
Brandon “3rd Round” Johnson
