The Drap Father S50 DSFL Mock Draft 1.0
Hello and welcome friends to my first DSFL mock draft for the S50 class. After 2 days of the prospect bowl under our belts, the class is shaping out to be a great one. It is deep with both talent and personalities off the field. These predictions were made based solely off team need and tendencies off each GM. They do not reflect any known information or leaks prior to draft. All picks will include a summary of why I believe the pick is right for the team and what the player brings to the table.
These picks do not include trades prior to the DSFL draft, the order of the S50 DSFL draft is listed below to navigate the mock draft:
1. DAL
2. POR
3. KCC
4. BBB
5. NOR
6. LON
7. MIN
8. TIJ
1.01 DAL > QB Jack Cannon
Quarterback is always going to be a big need and with Zega now drafted to the ISFL, Dallas must fill this huge hole quickly. At number one though, they need to land a stud. Well, in good fortune for the birddogs, we have one in this loaded draft. QB Jack Cannon has come on strong lately, leading the red hot Mexico City Aztecs in the prospect bowl. As his name implies, he has an arm that will keep safeties on their toes with great awareness to pair with it! He’s a pocket passer, so later in the draft the birddogs will need to grab an OL or two to fortify their young franchise QB. He does well at taking check downs and taking what the defense gives him. Gets the ball out of his hands fast to prevent negative plays. This would be an excellent pick at No.1 overall for the QB needy birddogs to start rebuilding.
1.02 POR > S Akane Saruta
Portland will likely be in a similar position as the birddogs, looking for a QB to replace the current one they are losing to the ISFL. However, with not much talent at the position after Cannon, I think the pythons opt to fill a different hole. They also need defense after losing their star LB to the ISFL this year. With this in mind, they will pick the best from a deep safety class to anchor their defense. Hoping they can continue to excel on the defensive side of the ball. Saruta is not just talented but passionate. She has no fear when attacking the football and causes offensive headaches almost every play. There is no doubt she is worthy of being the first defensive player off the board.
1.03 KCC > OL Jordan Drapal
Kansas City will again be in the same boat looking for QB, but they are left to plan B like Portland. Here they will waste no time grabbing a cornerstone piece to bolster their offense. OL is never the flashiest of picks, but KCC must shore up some big bodies to anchor the line this year. Later in the draft they can hope to spend on some weapons for Jordan to protect. Jordan Drapal is the clear cut top OL in the draft. It is a fairly deep class, but what Drapal brings to the table is the ability to play with speed. He will be perfect on the backside edge to protect against the young deep incoming defensive class.
1.04 BBB > RB Sevrin Quinn
Bondi Beach is lacking in the run game. It’s clear with the close to empty RB room they have. This is their chance to grab a difference maker at not only the position but on the offense as a whole. Successful teams are the ones who can establish a punishing ground game, so if the bucs want to start succeeding this is the move. Sevrin has ground shaking speed and squeezes through holes fast. He is having a great prospect bowl showing worthy of a top 5 pick.
1.05 NOR > DE Jonathan Dailey
Losing WW Jatt will be a big blow for the seawolves. They’ll need to jump into the defensive talent quickly before too many of them are gone. To be honest, there isn’t a Jatt type talent at DT, but they can select a versatile DE to fill in as a down lineman or backer if needed. That player is Jonathan Dailey. He possesses the unique speed coming off the edge that all coaches love. Big enough to line up on tackle or fast enough to blitz/cover standing up, this pick will give Norfolk another dynamic playmaker on the defensive side of the ball.
1.06 LON > OL Traffic Cone
London lost two OL in the draft, so this is a clear need here. At least one big body is needed to shore up a front with a lot of question marks. The top lineman is already gone, but they have their pick from some other good options. The move here is Traffic Cone. A big mauling OL, Traffic Cone will move bodies for a Royals team looking to make some noise. He has quick, strong hands and doesn’t lose balance very easily. London gets a big body to offset big losses.
1.07 MIN > CB Benjamin Abenduct
Minnesota had a great season, but you can always get better. This is where they have the opportunity to patch up weaknesses that kept them from winning the Ultimini. Abenduct is a great lockdown cover CB that will help put a cap on the offense. The talent is there, worthy of a top 5 pick, but the need doesn’t fit until the 7th pick. A home run pick for the grey ducks! Abenduct has great footwork and speed to pair with it. He’s been training with specialized coaches since graduating and is ready for the next level right away.
1.08 TIJ > OL Confurius DeThwilson
The Champs are finally on the clock! What does the best team in the DSFL need, you say? Well, they need to reload. They, like London, are losing two OL to the ISFL. It would be wise here to fill that gaping hole if they want a chance at repeating. The best OL left on the board is Confurius DeThwilson. A mauler, similar to Traffic Cone, this monster of a man is not moved easily. Strong hands and great power give him the ability to lay out anyone in his path. He looks to be an interior lineman as well, which fits perfectly for the luchadores who just lost their inside anchor.
The S50 class is rounding out to be a deep one, with worthy players not even going in the first round. There is talent at every position and every build! There isn’t too much data on them yet, but the prospect bowl has given us some flashes of greatness to come. GMs are hoping this class ends up hitting big time and becomes one of the best in league history. However, only time will tell and only the field can do the deciding.
