I will make this simple. Elvin Enchant was THE most impactful player on defense this year in the DSFL, without a doubt. He should be named for the defensive player of the year for a plethora of reasons, and I am going to list just a few of them.
To start, Enchant was a part of the duo that created the greatest linebacking corp the DSFL had ever seen in its 3 years of existence. The two linebackers, Enchant and Brian Mills, combined for almost 250 tackles, an almost insurmountable number by any other line backing corp in the league. Sure, a case may be made that his teammate, Mills, might be more deserving of the Defensive Player of the Year award, and while there may be some validity in that argument, you are still wrong. Elvin Enchant accumulated a total of SEVEN sacks throughout the season at his linebacker position, and while you may argue that other linebackers had more sacks, what you fail to realize is that Tijuana had one of the lowest blitz percentages in the league.
Enchant also had TWO interceptions at his position, which is more than any other linebacker in the league (besides Maric who also had two). This once again shows Enchants versatility as a ball hawk, which is even furthered by his TEN pass deflections this season, the most in the DSFL this season. So not only was Elvin by far the best linebacker against the pass this year, but he was also a great player in the box as evidenced by his near 100 tackles and 7 sacks.
Not only looking at stats, we have to consider other things. For example, it has been largely noted that Tijuana has had the best defensive output by any defense in the history of the DSFL, and I think we all know that that would not be possible without the extreme effort put out there by Elvin Enchant every single week.
All in all, we saw a historic performance by Tijuana this season which has helped propel them into the playoffs, and it would be a joke if a key part of their defense in Elvin Enchant was not named the Defensive Player of the Year.
