News came through recently that one of the nominees for DSFL defensive player of the year and defensive rookie of the year Barnaby Earl will play another season in portland. After being drafted to San Jose in the NSFL draft Earl recently announced he and the team came to an agreement to have him play another season in the DSFL. Last year Barnaby was a nightmare for offenses as he was all over the field racking up over 100 tackles and 10 sacks. As a linebacker having dynamics like that it makes it hard for an offense to gameplan. Some games he will play in the middle and be a tacking machine and other games he is rushing off the edge getting to the QB almost once a game. Barnaby has said he worked hard this offseason and thinks he will win defensive player of the year. "After my performance last year and still getting adjusted to the league I know after all the work i put in this year will pay off and all the teams that passed up on me in both drafts will be kicking themselves. i am going to show the pythons, and the sabercats that there was no better pick for them besides me." He shows the confidence coaches love without going over the line into cockiness and getting himself off of his game. With the start of the preseason tonight you can bet there will be plenty of eyes on Barnaby as he starts his quest to be the best defensive player in the league.
