Hey everyone, its been a while since I've done one of these. Now that the season has come to a close I'm open to any and all questions you may have. Fire away!
I celebrated with my team right away after we got the win, and damn was that special. We popped the champagne and danced around the locker room in Yellowknife, and the flight back was a blur. We maybe would have stayed and gone out on the town if it were anywhere but Yellowknife, but since the only club there is a small igloo ran by local inuits we decided to wait til we got back. When I'm done celebrating with my team I plan on taking my family on vacation to a place much warmer than Yellowknife.
Never. I felt that we had an even better team than the year before, and all of the newcomers from the S18 class stepped up in a way that was beyond our expectations throughout the season. And when we found out we were playing the Wraiths, given their playoff history, we had a boat load of confidence.
I'd say the first game of the season was one of the most fun. We started out strong with a win, and we got to witness old man Showbiz and new kid on the block Abernathy each picking off a pass for six. It was a proud moment watching my teammates come up big, especially the rookie.
There are some talented individuals in the upcoming draft along with some big personalities. Sweet James-Jones has a huge mouth but backs up his talk with his play on the field. It'd be cool to get him in to bring some swagger into our locker room. Along with him, I'm really excited for the rookies coming out of Portland. Dream and O'Leary have helped create a great culture in that locker room and would be fine additions to ours. I obviously can't talk about everyone, but from what I've seen they will make an impact in the seasons to come.
That's a tough one. I'm not sure about what they are looking for in a team, or what GM's are looking into them. But I can say that the big names like Action Jackson and Marcella Toriki will be huge additions to whatever offense they end up on. Axel Hornbacher and Bubba Thumper will change the landscape of the defense they sign with. I'm hoping we can get at least one of them on the Otters when its all said and done.
