Agent Tesla here yet again with a massive amount of written material. This time I am doing a simple draft recap, however do not expect me to be handing out grades to teams on this. I am amazing, but I am also a rookie agent. So please stick with me as I learn more about this league, and do my best to bring you some useful information as I do.
While I might make a few comments if I notice something interesting about a team's draft as I analyzed in bite sized chunks this is more about the players themselves. Since there were so many players in this draft class the draft presentation itself understandably was not able to give even a minute to each player. Even my prized prospect received only 40 seconds of praise. Nobody complain about the draft being too short though as the presenters have lives and a four hour draft presentation is absurd, however it does give me the opportunity to hopefully get you all a bit better acquainted with the class of S22. Without further ado let us get to the draftees.
Round One
Pick Overall: 1
Team: Dallas Birddogs
Representative: Rradum
Player Name: Monterey 'Monty' Jack
Position: Quarterback
Archetype: Gunslinger
Improved Stats: Arm Strength, Intelligence, and Throwing Accuracy
Comment: I have had the pleasure of sitting down with Rradum for a little bit leading up to the draft. Not a lot was said between us, but they were a pleasant person to interact with in my limited time with them. Their client is clearly a top prospect going first overall and if you watch the tape you will see why. My stance is that there were several good quarterbacks in this class, and that Monterey 'Monty' Jack managed to separate themselves solely by virtue of raw arm talent. Of course having a good representative probably helped.
Pick Overall: 2
Team: London Royals
Representative: Flyeaglesfly29
Player Name: Colby Jack
Position: Quarterback
Archetype: Mobile
Improved Stats: Arm Strength, Intelligence, and Throwing Accuracy
Comment: My favorite kind of quarterback is one that can move around and Colby going second overall shows the league likes them too. No real interaction with their representative that I recall, but I am more of a defensive person so that is no surprise. Also why I prefer a mobile quarterback as they are better at causing a headache for the guy I represent. It does seem as though the Jack brothers are more similar than you might think based on archetype as their talent is their arms. Prefer a more speedy quarterback myself, but as you an see if you want to make it in this league as a quarterback you want quality arms and a good head on your shoulders.
Pick Overall: 3
Team: Portland Pythons
Representative: To12143
Player Name: Tyler Oles Jr
Position: Cornerback
Archetype: Zone
Improved Stats: Speed, Hands, and Endurance
Comment: Pythons are one of the teams that made me want to be able to comment at least a little on what the team did. They loaded the secondary by taking three consecutive cornerbacks with their first three picks. Also got some solid overall players by doing so. They also apparently found a player I somehow missed when I was doing my draft scouting so congratulations to them on that. Mysterious to me that the third overall pick went unnoticed by me entirely, but I think that has to do with three being the magic number. Be wary of throwing to Tyler's side folks because you may not see them, but they are still there.
Pick Overall: 4
Team: Tijuana Luchadores
Representative: Slothfacekilla
Player Name: Ben Slothlisberger
Position: Quarterback
Archetype: Gunslinger
Improved Stats: Arm Strength, Intelligence, Throwing Accuracy, Speed, and Endurance
Comment: Sloth is easily one of my favorite of the seven deadly sins and one of my favorite animals as well. Slothfacekilla is no different as I may not have had as much interaction with them as I have had with other agents, but all of it has been quite positive in my book. Thrilled for them that they were able to do so well in the draft for their client and I wish them luck in Tijuana. While I am a huge fan of Sloth I do not believe Ben Slothlisberger is given how quick he moves for a supposedly immobile quarterback. A gunslinger by nature, but a dual threat by effort I personally think Ben might be the best quarterback of the class.
Pick Overall: 5
Team: Kansas City Coyotes
Representative: BadLck
Player Name: Phat Boi
Position: Defensive Tackle
Archetype: Interior Rusher
Improved Stats: Strength and Speed
Comment: Phat Boi! First defensive tackle off the board and for good reason given he has some experience in the league already. An athletic abnormality that is going to be hard to stop for years to come and in the Kansas City Coyotes locker room I expect his motivation to stay sky high during his tenure in the DSFL. My client played alongside BadLck's in the prospect bowl and we were able to chat a little around that time. No complaints from me as they both seemed like pure professionals in my eyes. Good job Kansas City on getting a top quality tackle.
Pick Overall: 6
Team: Norfolk Seawolves
Representative: Baueranthony9
Player Name: Thubba Bumper
Position: Cornerback
Archetype: Zone
Improved Stats: Strength, Speed, Hands, and Endurance
Comment: I did not have any experience with representative Baueranthony9 before the draft, but have enjoyed getting to know them as a member of the Seawolves. Plus I have it on good authority that someone who I trust a great deal in this league vouches for them. Their client on the other hand is one that I scouted before the draft and is one of just two zone corners that I gave an elite grade to during my scouting. Given Ozamataz's intensity I would have to say Thubba was my preference of the two. I look forward to seeing what he can do in combination with the disruptive force that my client brings at the line of scrimmage. Best of luck of course to Baueranthony9 now that they are in Norfolk, and I look forward to talking to you more.
Pick Overall: 7
Team: Myrtle Beach Buccaneers
Representative: Colabear
Player Name: Johnny Hellzapoppin
Position: Safety
Archetype: Center Fielder
Improved Stats: Strength, Intelligence, Tackling, and Speed
Comment: I am terrible with names, but their representative's does look familiar. Forgive me if I miss anyone who I have interacted with here, however I do not believe I have any major interaction with Colabear. Johnny I do by virtue of my safety scouting before the draft where I gave them an elite grade for reasons that are clear by their position as the seventh overall pick. Should be able to make plays all over the field despite their strength being as a deep safety.
Pick Overall: 8
Team: Minnesota Grey Ducks
Representative: FurFurFurson
Player Name: Buck Thornton
Position: Safety
Archetype: Run Support
Improved Stats: Intelligence, Speed, Hands, and Endurance
Comment: I had the pleasure of interacting a fair amount with FurFurFurson before the draft and I can say they are a picture perfect professional. Could not compliment enough on their professionalism and the way they carry themselves. Buck is similar in that they are a player that does everything right and there are no complaints to be had about their game. Together they are an amazing duo and I wish them all the best in Minnesota!
Round Two
Pick Overall: 9
Representative: Exilizer
Player Name: Derred de Ville AKA The Red Devil
Position: LB
Archetype: Speed Rusher
Improved Stats: Strength, Intelligence, Speed, Hands, and Endurance
Comment: Exilizer is fabulous and I would say I have a friendly relationship with them from our respective works. We even had a friendly wager about the draft that I won in part due to their clients new team. One of the top agents of the draft and I dare say quite possibly second only to myself. Their client is as the hosts discussed probably the top linebacker in the draft due in no small part to the quality their agent brings to the table. That said their all around talents make sure that The Red Devil will get his due in the end, and anyone who underestimates them by overestimating Exilizer is in for a rude awakening.
Pick Overall: 10
Team: Norfolk Seawolves
Representative: Tesla
Player Name: Magnus Rikiya
Position: Defensive Tackle
Archetype: Nose Tackle
Improved Stats: Strength, Intelligence, Speed, and Endurance
Comment: The best combination of representative and client in the draft. A lot of players and representatives would say here that they would never forget the names of the people drafted ahead of them, that there were nine mistakes in the draft, or that those other teams will rue the day they made that mistake. I contain no such ill will towards the teams that passed on us and I cannot bring myself to say that a single one of those teams made a mistake because to do so would be to say that we should not have ended up in Norfolk. Instead I would like to thank those teams that passed on us as it allowed us to find a home in Norfolk.
While my previous experience is primarily with mercenary and military organizations I do want to say here that Norfolk has provided me with the warmest welcome of any organization that I have joined in my many years. Thank you for having us Norfolk and I hope that we can exceed your expectations.
Pick Overall: 11
Team: Portland Pythons
Representative: Alexander Hamilton II
Player Name: Alexander Hamilton II
Position: Cornerback
Archetype: Man To Man
Improved Stats: Speed
Comment: Honestly to give you an idea of how little I know about this person; I am unsure of whether or not this player is representing themself or just found a very dedicated agent. I know an okay amount about the player I would say from the scouting I did before the draft, however I gave them a grade of diamond in the rough that does not coincide with their high draft selection. Portland either knows something that I do not, or maybe they were lured in by the unique name situation. Did love the work they put out before the draft, however I did not see enough from them to bump them to elite. Still wish them well with their new team.
Pick Overall: 12
Team: Portland Pythons
Representative: Retrospace111
Player Name: Zamir Kehla
Position: Cornerback
Archetype: Man To Man
Improved Stats: Tackling, Speed, and Hands
Comment: Anyone who is an agent has interacted with Retrospace111 at this point I am sure given how often they are around. They have put out a fair amount of media including at least one good piece that I got to grade in my new role with the league. Their client meanwhile is a pure speedster of a corner who can run as well as his agent can run his mouth. A dynamic duo that should still be able to make a name despite the depth of the Portland secondary.
Pick Overall: 13
Team: Kansas City Coyotes
Representative: QuirkyTurtle
Player Name: Eddie Jeeta
Position: Wide Receiver
Archetype: Route Runner
Improved Stats: Intelligence, Speed, Hands, and Endurance
Comment: QuirkyTurtle is a friend I would say and I am thrilled they go to a team I am on friendly terms with if I am honest. They have been a foremost professional and been wonderful in their work ethic. Their client is much the same way and plays the game well. A good all around route runner who understandably went early in a draft where wide receivers were of importance to most teams.
Pick Overall: 14
Team: Norfolk Seawolves
Representative: J0EB
Player Name: Matt 'Son of Havoc' Cross
Position: Safety
Archetype: Playmaker
Improved Stats: Strength, Intelligence, Tackling, Speed, and Hands
Comment: I did not have much interaction if any with J0EB before our clients ended up in Norfolk together, but I did dig their style from what I saw of it. Which was a fair amount during my scouting of their client Matt 'Son of Havoc' Cross. Matt 'Son of Havoc' Cross is a player that I admittedly only gave a solid starter grade to before the draft, however I did say they were borderline elite. It is just that I did not see enough there to bump them up to the elite grade. Seeing their work ethic up close I can say that I was wrong in my assessment before the draft, and I am both happy to have been wrong and happy my client is on the same team. Love their presence in the locker room and look forward to talking to them more. Best of luck in Norfolk.
Pick Overall: 15
Team: Myrtle Beach Buccaneers
Representative: Troen
Player Name: Troen Egghands
Position: Defensive End
Archetype: Balanced
Improved Stats: Strength, Tackling, Speed, and Endurance
Comment: I can say outright that Troen and I did not have an enormous amount of correspondence before the draft, but they were kind enough to help me out as a rookie agent when filling out forms for my client Magnus Rikiya. Given that I can say that they are a top tier agent in my opinion, and especially when you take into consideration the effort they have put in elsewhere. The combination of that and a top talent like Egghands at Defensive End and I think it safe to say they are one of the better packages in the draft. The best given they fact they were the only one taken in the first four rounds of the draft.
Pick Overall: 16
Representative: Gucci
Player Name: White Goodman
Position: Running Back
Archetype: Receiving Back
Improved Stats: Agility, Speed, Hands, and Endurance
Comment: I am going to come clean here that I was approached as Magnus' representative by the Birddogs very early on in my time as an agent. Thrilled to be contacted as a rookie up until I saw their list of questions. They included one that they admit was there to stir up emotions all to see how the player or representative responded. My response was to delete the message and move on with my life.
Gucci himself approached me just before the draft began as a representative of the team and apologized for having not reached out earlier. I did something you should never do here kids, and I made an assumption that because he said they had not reached out that he was from the Royals who did not contact me at all before the draft. So when we discussed any negative experiences thus far I mentioned the question from the Birddogs that turned Magnus and I off of that team as that was my only negative experience in the league at that point. Luckily Gucci rolled with it very well by explaining why they asked that question, and seemed comfortable with the response that I gave. All my recent interactions with Gucci since then have been fine and I wish them nothing but the best. Although I am still thankful to have not had to test Magnus' compatibility with that locker room.
Their player meanwhile is a strange looking person named White Goodman who is an excellent receiving back in this class. From my understanding of the rules they had to be drafted by the Birddogs in the second round due to their representatives affiliation with the team, but they should be a useful contributor. Regardless of all the calls of reach when they got drafted that I believe were playful ribbing. Combination of above average athleticism and hands should be enough at the position to make a name for themself.
Summary
Okay I was originally going to do the first six rounds as an initial piece, then three rounds as an initial piece, but it looks like this is enough as it is already over four pages. Plus this way it ends on a fun note. I do still plan to do a recap of as much of the draft as I am capable of if I am honest, however I may not be able to do every active player as I initially intended. My new job as a grader makes me more inclined to contribute by doing additional work with others media than work on my own. Still I hope you enjoyed this first piece and I do intend to continue until I run out of consistent people that I am aware of in my activities as an agent.
