After an early ending to the Royals' season, Ryeu is still not taking a rest. Ryeu is present at a charity event of his Ryeu-Foundation to raise money for children with health concerns. After the event Ryeu is stepping at the podium to answer some questions.
Oh, Ben. Nice to see you around. I think I fit both pretty well, honestly. I mean, you will hear exactly that answer from every player in this league but I think I played at an elite level in both positions. I was the TFL-Leader leaguewide before I switched to LB and although I did not produce many sacks (1) I did really well in the Run Blocking department. As a Linebacker I also delivered some pretty good numbers and was the defensive player of the Week 9 at this position. I recorded 3 FF and 5 Sacks as a Linebacker, so I was actually a better Pass Rusher at the Linebacker spot.
Long Answer short: I do believe that I could be used as both and I would be ready to play at both positions. It would be awesome to be in an organization that uses this ability to its full advantage.
It is true that it will be quite different being back in the US after I spent some years at Uni there. I liked being in London, as you already said, with my german roots it was pretty good to visit my ma and close friends a couple of times.
But let us just be honest. Every single Player in this league just wants to go over the pacific to play for one of the big teams. I am sure I am going to find new friends there and I will be closer to my Dad who is currently in the US.
I am not too concerned about my landing spot. I just hope to be on a team that uses me to my full advantage. I am going to go ahead and say that I did have some conversation with a couple of GMs already and a few conversations were better than others, so let me say there are a few GMs I like and I would be happy to play for.
The Yeti have a special spot in my mind although they do not really have a clear need for my position in particular. I just really like woelkers who is such a nice man and also a really hard working businessman. The Yeti stated they are looking for quality rather than positions in particular, so I might have a shot there.
First things first: I want to be in a team with a good team culture. If it is not there when I arrive, I am going to work my a** off to build one. I hope that I can help a team to get better and hopefully get to touch a trophy one day. You can bet that I will put a lot of work in since I just have to become a Hall of Famer one day or at least, one of the greatest to have ever played in this league.
2. Thoughts on the London locker room?[/QUOTE]
Where do I just start to answer that? I loved my Royals right from the beginning. Just everyone in this organization was a good friend to me. The unexperienced GMs did an amazing job building a Locker Room culture.
Of course, the Royals' season had some ups and downs but that is okay. You do not have the highest expectations when you are a first-year expansion franchise. I just hope that I would do everything I could to help them and I think that's what I accomplished. I do believe with a deeper roster the Royals will be a lot stronger in the future. I am deeply grateful for the experience the Royals gave me and I will forever be a Royal.
Honestly, I do not give much about Mock drafts but as a player, you do not get around seeing your draft spots in these once in a while. In the Mock drafts I saw I get drafted anywhere between 4th overall and about 30th overall. These have all one thing in common, teams draft me pretty quick after Troen Egghands gets off the board. Allthough I think I had the better season, I can totally imagine that being the case.
I do believe to be drafted in the first two rounds since there might be many teams with a DE need and I am an elite player in a small position group.
What the heck, I am from Germany and I do not know what any of that means. I do like me some Schnitzel on my Kürbiskernbrot though.
My 18 tackles game for sure. It was a great feeling after Week 9 to go into the tunnels with that statline. It was even more enjoyable once modern_duke (out GM) told me that I just broke the season record. I eventually ended up sharing that record with my buddy Darred De Ville and I was so hyped up for him as well.
Any more questions?
*awkward silence in the room*
Okay, let's rap thing up then. I have some Sauerkraut to eat at home. Thanks everyone for being here and once again a big thank you to every single member of the London Royals. You guys became a family to me.
