Hello, I'm Lim Jahey, and I am going to try to start a new series where each week in the DSFL I will pick a player who I think helped their team win with a stellar performance. With the intro out of the way, lets get into the hero of week one.
Week 1 Hero: Ed Ball London Royals 3 Tackles 2 Deflections 1 Interception 1 Touchdown
In this week one matchup between the Royals and the Coyotes, the Royals won 31-10, off the back of a very solid defensive performance from safety Ed Ball. The first quarter of the game started off well for the Royals, with around 7:40 left in the first, Colby Jack threw a Seven yard pass to Nickolas Kaepercolin, who brought it into the endzone for the first points of the game. The rest of the first quarter was quiet, and at the start of the second quarter, the Royals got the ball into the range of their kicker, Datsum PhastBawl. Up 10-0, the Coyotes responded. After Ed Ball's first deflection and tackle of the game, the Coyotes put some points on the board with a two yard passing touchdown from Reginald Covington III to Deonte Washington. The start of the third quarter was mostly quiet, Ed Ball had a tackle on the first drive from the Coyotes, and after that drive the Royals scored again, with another passing touchdown to Susan Cash Jr. In the fourth quarter, the Coyotes were looking to close the gap, after a field goal to start the quarter, they brought it back to a one score game. However on the Royals ensuing drive, Colby Jack got his third passing touchdown of the day, a three yard strike to Jacoby Batista. On the next drive, up two scores, the Coyotes in a position where they could only pass, Ed Ball jumped on a pass from Reginald Covington III, and took it all the way to the house for a 52 yard pick-6, thrusting the final dagger into the Coyotes, and sealing the win for the Royals.
Week 2 Hero: Taylor Cooper 7 Receptions 109 Yards 3 Touchdowns
After a week one loss, the coyotes were looking for their first win of the season, and to make a statement that the first game was just a fluke. On the first drive against the Seawolves, Reginald Covington III completed a twenty-three yard pass to Taylor Cooper for the first touchdown of the day. After stopping the Seawolves on the next drive, Andrew Nova coughed the ball up, and put the Seawolves in great field position. After a short drive, Tequila Sunrise ran the ball in from 7 yards out, and made the score 7-6. After a rush heavy start to the drive Taylor Cooper reeled in two passes, a twelve yard strike, and a thirty yard bomb that resulted in a touchdown to put the Coyotes up 14-6. After a three and out from the Seawolves, the Coyotes drove down the field again, hitting Taylor Cooper for five yards, followed by a twenty yard strike for Taylor's third touchdown, and sixth catch of the day. Coyotes up 20-6. The seawolves would end up scoring three straight field goals, as the Coyotes started to work on grinding away the minutes left on the clock, bringing the score to 20-15. Taylor Cooper would get his last reception of the day, a fourteen yarder, early in the fourth quarter, with 11:38 remaining, helping the Coyotes score a field goal to go up 23-15. After a strip sack from Son Goku on the very first play of the Seawolves ensuing drive, the Coyotes would put another three points on the board, putting the Coyotes up 26-15 with a solid performance from their kicker, Karmichael Hunt as well. With the time winding down, the Seawolves were unable to muster an offensive drive, and ended up giving up a touchdown to Andrew Nova to end the game, 30-15 Coyotes.
That's the end of my first week(s) of DSFL weekly heros, I'm going to try my best to keep up and make one for every week, so I hope everybody enjoyed!
