Welcome to another episode of behind the wall. Today’s episode is with offensive lineman Felix Archstone.
Interviewer: “So Felix Archstone. New Kansas City Coyote and I believe the first Offensive Lineman taken in the S24 DSFL draft correct?”
Archstone: “That'd be correct. Still feels unreal to hear that. I was always confident in my abilities, but to lead the OL movement? That's an absolute dream right there.”
Interviewer: “Yeah it’s incredible especially in a draft class with 19 offensive linemen taken in 18 rounds. You also were drafted to a team that now has 5 new rookie offensive lineman in Stallworth, Quigley, Antilles, and Weber. What excites you most about that?”
Archstone: “Well first of all, I gotta give it to the Coyotes for picking up so many of us big boys. That takes a lot of guts to do with how much talent is out there. But they're confident in what we bring, and I'm confident in us too. We've got an insanely solid group of people holding the line here, one that the league honestly isn't ready for. I'm beyond hyped to see the big plays that are going to happen because of us guys on the line. If our offensive highlight reel isn't like, at least an hour long, then I'd have to tell you I'd be shocked.”
Interviewer: “You sound pretty excited. Now the point of this interview is to get to know the Felix Archstone behind the face mask. So tell me Felix, what do you do for fun in your off time?”
Archstone: “I'd consider myself to be one of the more oddball guys when it comes to fun. As you can probably tell, hair styling is a pretty important thing to me, and I love practicing the craft of it. Have ever since I was in high school! Some people really take for granted just how important a great hairdo is, but it can really do a lot for a person. Improve your confidence, your look, how people perceive you, all sorts of things. It's why I'm always trying to convince teammates to let me take a go at styling theirs, haha. But yeah, I enjoy working with hair a lot! Tons of creativity and expression to be found there. Besides that, meditation and swimming are two activities I enjoy a lot as well. Both very peaceful and active in their own right. Especially with the new coyote howling I'm incorporating into the meditation regiment I have. Howling can feel very empowering.”
Interviewer: “Do all of the Coyotes howl? Is it a pregame ritual or is that something unique to you?”
Archstone: “Now that, I do not know. And it's a new thing I'm doing myself currently. I figured since I'd be on the coyotes, unleashing my inner coyote would be important. And our team slogan is "Fear the howl", so I figured "Alright, I'll make them fear it!" I assume I'm the only guy doing it, but getting the rest of the team involved wouldn't be a bad idea either. Could you imagine how scared the other team would be if they saw us all coming out howling? I certainly can.”
Interviewer: “That would be pretty intimidating I am sure. I was looking at your wiki earlier today and I noticed that there was a noticeable lack in things pertaining to family, friends, etc. Would you care to expand on that? or do you prefer to keep personal relationships personal?”
Archstone: “Yeah, I deliberately tried to keep the focus on me, as mean as that may sound. I don't have any hate towards those who support me or anything, but I don't like to be judged for anything but my own actions and results. My family's great though. Mom and Dad supported me 100% of the way on my journey to the ISFL. We've always been fans of the league, and while I'm sure my parents would have loved for me to become a doctor or something safer, but this was always my calling. Now, I do owe my love of barbering to my Mother, however, as she would bring me along to watch her work while my Dad was busy traveling for his work. She was a barber herself at a local place in Tampa while my Dad was a speaker for some sorta tech company. I was never really a techie, despite going to a techie school, haha. But I'm proud to have at least represented my Father's school in Football.
Don't really have any huge shout-outs as far as friends go, but I made a lot leading up to the draft. Guys like Adyan, Ruschmann, and Chambers, to name a few. Lots of love for them and the Landshark boys, even if many of us are now separated.”
Interviewer: “That’s really wonderful to hear Felix. One last question before I let you go. I know it's a long way off, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if you haven't thought about it, but what comes next? You have a very obvious love for football so I must ask, is there a management or head office position in your future?”
Archstone: “After winning a few championships of course, I can definitely see myself sitting in a GM spot for a team. I feel like I've got a good skillset for the position, and as you can tell with my training, I'm used to being loaded with a grind. So, I'd welcome the challenge and the wonderful opportunity to make some dreams come true.”
Interviewer: “Inspiring to say the least. Thank you for your time Felix!”
Archstone: “Thank you as well!”
