Without further ado, I would like to introduce you to the 32 players that make up the Berlin Fire Salamanders as they prepare for their inaugral season in the ISFL.
At Quarterback, NICK KAEPERCOLIN (@Highhaschdi)
After two seasons with the DSFL's London Royals, Kaepercolin was called up to the Baltimore Hawks having been taken with the 57th overall pick in the 2037 Draft. Despite two strong individual seasons, Kapercolin has yet to taste the playoffs and will be hoping to take that step soon. When Berlin came calling, they offered him the opportunity to become their starting Quarterback and be a leader in their brand new locker room.
Kaepercolin's career stats: 32 games, 106 catches, 1710 yards, 15 touchdowns
At Running Back, JOSEPH PETRONGOLO (@Jo3fish5) and DANNY KING (@DanE got dis)
While these two will be leading the charge for Berlin this season, they have just one combined season of experience between them. Both players were taken in the 2038 draft, Petrongolo at 19 by Arizona and King at 59 by Orange County. Petrongolo was called up last season and despite an encouraging debut year, ultimately wasn't protected. The Berlin management jumped at the chance and selected him with their first pick. King meanwhile had a stellar career in the DSFL while his ISFL rights were moved around from Orange County to Baltimore. Berlin is now officially his 3rd ISFL team, but he will finally make his big league debut with them next week.
Petrongolo's career stats: 16 games, 864 yards, 5 touchdowns
King - ROOKIE
At Wide Receiver, SUSAN CASH JR (@2Burkeulosis), DRE MATTHEWS (@Confictional) and TAYLOR COOPER (@gargaroff)
For their debut season, Berlin boasts a trio of young wide receivers. In the largest draft class the league has ever seen in 2037, Cash Jr went 71st overall while Taylor Cooper was selected 88th. And a year later, Dre Matthews was added to the league with the 29th pick. Cash Jr and Matthews were taken in this year's expansion draft from Yellowknife and Philadelphia respectively, while Cooper was a free agent pickup after his Arizona contract ran out. Much like the running back group, Cash Jr is the only player with a season of experience in the league.
Cash Jr's career stats: 16 games, 575 yards, 4 touchdowns
Matthews - ROOKIE
Cooper - ROOKIE
At Tight End, CLARK BOYD (@Cheech65) and CMON SKIUUUP (@"AirCrou")
Boyd was selected 122nd in the 2037 draft and went on to establish himself as one of the biggest steals of that mega class. As well as two seasons in the big leagues under his belt, Boyd was nominated for Tight End of the Year last season, as well as his first Pro Bowl. A top receiver and a decent blocker, Boyd has proven he can do it all, and Berlin would have been ecstatic to pick him up with their 5th expansion pick. Joining him, fresh from the S25 draft comes the 69th overall selection Cmon Skiuuup. It remains to be seen how these two will divide up the playing time but this looks set to become one of the stronger TE pairings in the league in a few seasons' time.
Boyd's career stats: 32 games, 927 yards, 7 touchdowns
Skiuuup - ROOKIE
At Tackle, BYRON DOLLS (@Symmetrik) and JOEY MCCABE (@Benthicc_Biomancer)
Yet more players from that legendary 2037 draft! Dolls was selected 33rd overall as the first OL off the board, while McCabe went 68th. McCabe has been in the ISFL for 2 seasons now, protecting Sarasota's QB Dexter Banks II, but was released at the end of his rookie contract last season. Dolls meanwhile was called up immediately and has 3 seasons of experience in Baltimore, proving himself as one of the best linemen in the league. Berlin poached him with their 6th selection in this year's expansion draft.
Dolls' career stats: 45 games, 215 pancakes, 4 sacks allowed
McCabe's career stats: 32 games, 127 pancakes, 6 sacks allowed
At Guard/Center, JURGEN WALL, GUNTHER WALL, DIETER WALL
No one knows anything about these identical triplets and they rarely speak to anyone other than each other. They showed up at the first day of Berlin's training camp and let their blocking do the talking. Together they've become known as (yep, you guessed it) the 'Berlin Wall'. These towering triplets are sure to terrify defensive linemen for years to come.
J. Wall - ROOKIE
G. Wall - ROOKIE
D. Wall - ROOKIE
At Defensive Tackle, CLAUDE MILLER II (@Bruins10) and HANK STEEL (@DrChops)
These two were drafted relatively near each other in the 2037 draft, Miller II at 52 and Steel at 72. Miller was called up immediately by Arizona and was happily stolen away from them by Berlin with their second expansion pick after three strong seasons. Steel meanwhile was called up by New Orleans a year later than Miller, and has enjoyed 2 trips to the playoffs in his 2 seasons. Both are great players and will no doubt be a handful for opposing lineman over the next few seasons.
Miller's career stats: 45 games, 89 tackles, 5 TFL, 1/0 FF/FR, 7 sacks
Steel's career stats: 32 games, 81 tackles, 8 TFL, 1/2 FF/FR, 11 sacks
At Defensive End, MARIO VONPEBBLES (@Jangorhino) and STEVIE VASSALLO (@Libertines)
VonPebbles was taken by Philadelphia with the 77th overall pick in that stacked 2037 draft. One year later, he was called up to the big leagues and has been a rising star ever since. Berlin were happy to claim him with their 4th expansion pick. Stevie Vassallo meanwhile is a veteran of the big leagues, having played 5 seasons. He's never been the strongest of DEs around the league and was picked up from free agency, but will provide some much needed extra manpower on this fledgling D-line. Both these players are familiar with each other, having spent the last 2 seasons together on the Chicago line.
VonPebbles' careeer stats: 32 games, 89 tackles, 36 TFL, 2/2 FF/FR, 9 sacks
Vassallo's career stats: 68 games, 150 tackles, 31 TFL, 2/1 FF/FR, 10 sacks
At Linebacker, HINGLE MCCRINGLEBERRY (@Jmac NCheese) and ADAM SCHELL (@Cincyfan96)
Yet another member of the Butchers defense from the last two years, McCringleberry made his name not just by bringing down the ballcarriers, but finished 2nd in Passes Defensed last year. Originally picked 13th in the 2038 draft and immediately called up, McCringleberry was then poached by Berlin with their 9th expansion pick. Accompanying him is Adam Schell, an impressive specimen who just walked away with the DSFL award for Defensive Player of the Year. While unproven in the ISFL, Berlin felt strongly enough about his potential to acquire his rights from Arizona prior to the draft. Much like the other position groups reviewed so far, this pair is only going to get better with age.
McCringleberry's career stats: 32 games, 229 tackles, 4 TFL, 2/1 FF/FR, 16 sacks, 29 PDs, 2 touchdowns
Schell - ROOKIE
At Cornerback, ASHER QUINN (@Dewalt27), MATT KRAUSE (@"Reaper11B") and SWANTAVIUS JONES (@Swanty)
Asher Quinn is the most experienced player on the Berlin roster having been lighting up defenses as a wide receiver over the last six seasons. Sensing a shortage at the CB position, the Berlin management asked Quinn to turn his attention to the other side of the field. Joining him is the team's first ever free agent add, Matt Krause, who is fresh from his career best performance in last year's Ultimus. Not only did Krause win the biggest prize in football, he recorded a pick six, 2 more PDs and 8 tackles to help San Jose to the title. Supporting this talented pair is Berlin's first overall pick from this year's draft, Swantavius Jones, who will have big cleats to fill if he wants to keep up with these two.
Quinn's career stats: 84 games, 269 catches, 3905 yards, 25 touchdowns
Krause's career stats: 32 games, 186 tackles, 1 TFL, 2/1 FF/FR, 2 sacks, 14 PDs
Jones - ROOKIE
At Safety, ERIC RICHARDS (@WildfireMicro) and BENOIT BLANCO (@xQCFamous)
Both of Berlin's new safeties were drafted in 2038, Blanco 28th overall to Arizona and Richards 43rd to Chicago. Richards came straight up to Chicago but was traded after one year to Sarasota. Having been selected by Berlin in the expansion draft, Richards will now be starting for his 3rd team in 3 seasons. Blanco meanwhile had just one season in the big leagues before being a part of the trade that brough Adam Schell to Berlin. Blanco was immediately tasked with helping scout the upcoming draft prospects as well as preparing himself for Berlin's big debut next week.
Richards' career stats: 32 games, 129 tackles, 1/1 FF/FR, 8 sacks, 3 Ints, 5 PDs
Blanco's career stats: 16 games, 79 tackles, 1 TFL, 3 sacks
At Kicker, KARMICHAEL HUNT (@"simo_393")
Hunt was drafted by Philadelphia in the 2038 draft and got his big break last year as he was called up and placed into the starting lineup. And after his rookie season, Berlin acquired him with their 7th expansion pick. They'll be hoping their young Aussie kicker/punter can help make the difference in what are likely to be some tight games this season
Hunt's career stats: 22/27 FGs, 47.2 YPP, 26 Punts I20
And Berlin's stars of the future, LEBBY NEWTON (@Newty), ANANDA ADYAN (@TMosura), HANK ANTILLES (@Turpentine), BOBBY HOFFMAN (@mpressive23), CALEB JUDGE (@TheBlanken), JEEEEROY LENKINS (@LewisMelville) and GAVIN LECLERC (@gav)
Having been selected to play for the Fire Salamanders, Berlin's crop of 7 DSFL players will be looking to prove themselves even further to get that call up to the big leagues next season!
