The Twenty-Fifth Season of the ISFL saw the debut of two new expansion franchises, The Berlin Fire Salamanders and The New York Silverback's. Both teams had a lot of growing pains in their first seasons as ISFL franchises but that was to be expected. The Silverback's did a bit better than Salamanders with a Four And Twelve Record to Berlin's Three And Thirteen. This is a recap of how the first season in Silverback’s history went.
WEEK 1:
Berlin Fire Salamanders (0-0) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-0), Salamanders Win 30-27
What a way for these two teams to start out their inaugural seasons in the league. The Salamanders struck first with an interception returned for a touchdown by Defensive Back Asher Quinn. The Silverbacks would return fire Immediately however as Ashlely Owens took a one hundred and seven yard kickoff return to the house to tie the game at 7 a piece. A forty six yard field goal from Karmichael Hunt would put the Salamanders up 10-7 with four minutes left in the quarter. Berlin opened up the second quarter with another field goal from Hunt that gave them a 13 to 7 lead seven minutes in. The Silverbacks would fire back once more however as an eight yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder would land in the endzone and tie the game. A successful extra point from Dougie Smalls allowed the Silverbacks to take their first lead in franchise history 14 to 13.
New York would open up the second half with a three yard touchdown from Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to put New York up 20 to 13. An Unsuccessful Extra Point from Dougie Smalls would stop the Silverbacks from securing a full eight point lead however. A spectacular twenty-yard pass from Nick Kaepercolin to Dre Matthews with only sixteen seconds left in the quarter would bring Berlin within one of New York and a successful Extra Point from Karmichael Hunt would tie the game heading into the fourth. A three yard Joseph Petrongolo run would put Berlin and extra point would put Berlin up 27 to 20 in the closing stretches in the game. New York wasn't completely out of it however as Hank Winchester made a fantastic play coming up with a twenty-yard interception return for a touchdown to tie the game 27 27 with only four minutes left to go. Both franchises would avoid playing overtime in their first game however as a fifty-three yard field goal sealed the deal for Berlin with fifty three seconds left to go in the game.
Despite the loss, The Silverbacks played well in their debut game and looked to have a promising future in the league after week one.
Week 2: Orange County Otters (1-0) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-1), Otters Win 37-21
The Silverbacks would try to bounce back against the Otters in week two, a Team coming off a 23 to 17 Win against the defending champion Sabrecats in their season opener. New York would take the lead early with a thirty yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston for a touchdown to take the lead 7-0 with eight minutes to go in the first quarter.
The Otters would answer back with a thirty-yard field goal from Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname to cut the lead to four. New York would score again on a four yard touchdown run by Buster Bawls to pad their lead 14-3 however. The first quarter would end on a one yard Tatsu Nakamura run and Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname extra point to bring the Otters within four. The Otters would turn it on in the second quarter with an eleven yard pass from Suleiman Ramza to Future Trunks to take the lead 17 14 with ten minutes left in the quarter. They would follow this up with another Tatsu Nakamura one yard run to put themselves up 24-14 as the second quarter winded down. New York wasn’t completely helpless that entire quarter however as they managed to score a seventeen yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder to bring them within three of the Otters, 24-21.
The only points scored in the third were off of a twenty-one yard field goal by Dougie Smalls that tied the game 24-24.
Another field goal by Smalls to open a 24-27 lead for the Silverbacks would give them hope for their first win. However that win would never come as a twenty-four yard pass from Suleiman Ramza to Tatsu Nakamura would seal the deal for the Otters 31 - 27 with a minute and two seconds left in the quarter.
Week 3: New York City Silverbacks (0-2) @ Arizona Outlaws (0-2), Outlaws Win, 25-20
The first road game in New York City Silverbacks history would come against another team yet to notch a win in week 3. The Outlaws took an immediate lead with a forty-three yard pass from Jay Cue to Thomas Passmann to put Arizona up 7-0 in the first quarter. An eighteen yard field goal would pile on another three points for the Outlaws as they would take a commanding 10-0 lead going into the second. The second quarter would see two more J.J. Jay-Jaymison field goal that would increase the Outlaws lead to 16-0. Despite the heavy onslaught they faced in the first half, The Silverbacks came out strong in the second half, A twenty-five yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would put New York on the board in the second half , 3-16. A twenty-five yard touchdown pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston would cut the lead to six as New York ended the half down six, 10-16.
The Outlaws would try their best to stifle the comeback quickly as J.J. Jay-Jaymison nailed a thirty-five yard field goal to put Arizona up 19-10. The Silverback’s wouldn’t be stopped however as a seven yard Buster Bawls run would put them within two points of the Outlaws with nine minutes left in the game. A twenty-yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would give the Silverback’s hope for their first win as they now lead 20-19. Their hopes would be dashed just as they were in Week 2 by the Otters. A clutch four yard dash to the end zone by quarterback Jay Cue would put the Outlaws up 25-20 and seal the deal for Outlaws.
Week 4: Austin Copperheads (1-2) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-3), Copperheads Win 27-13
The Copperheads come into this game on a two game losing streak, they won their opener against Hawaii but dropped the following two to Orange County and Philadelphia in back to back weeks.
The first score of the game was a three yard run by Kinchwa Jones that put the Copperheads up 7-0 though the Silverbacks closed the gap with a thirty yard field goal from Dougie Smalls. The first quarter ended 7-3. The Silverbacks started the second quarter the same way they started the first with another thirty-seven yard field goal by Dougie Smalls to close the gap to one, 7-6 Copperheads. The Copperheads retaliated with a twenty-four yard field goal of their own from Pseudo QB that put them ahead 10 - 6 going into the second half.
The only points put up in the third was another thirty-one yard field goal from Pseudo QB. Austin really turned it on in the fourth quarter. A seven yard Kinchwa Jones run put them up 20-6 and a fifty one yard interception return for a touchdown by Lesean Crooks all but shut the door on the Silverbacks. To New York's credit however, they didn't give up completely and an Ashley Owens two yard run with a minute and fifty seven seconds left in the fourth gave us our final score of 27-13.
Week 5: New York City Silverbacks (0-4) @ Honolulu Hahalua (2-2) , Hahalua Win 36-21
Honolulu came out strong in the first quarter. Two back to back field goals, forty and thirty nine yards, respectively from Venus power put them up 6-0 with nine minutes left in the first. They followed that up with a six yard Luke Skywalker pass to Jed Podolak to put them up 13-0 going into the second.The onslaught continued in the second half with a forty-three yard field goal from Powers and a four yard run fron Nicholas Ayers to build Hahalua’s lead to 23-0. Despite the sizable lead that Honolulu built, The Silverbacks didn’t give up as they came back with a fifty-four yard bomb from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder to make it 23-7 going into the second half.
Sadly, The second half started much like the first half with a nineteen yard interception return from a touchdown by Davriel Lavigne and a forty-three yard field goal from Venus Power. Her second forty-three yard field goal of the game. Howitzer dumped another twenty-two yard pass to Snyder for a touchdown as the score closed to 14-33 going into the fourth quarter.
A six yard pass from Howitzer to Leon McDavid brought the game the closest it had been since kickoff, 21-33 before Venus Power vaniquished the Silverbacks once and for all with a thirty-two yard field goal.
Week 6: New York City Silverbacks (0-5) @ San Jose Sabercats (3-2), Sabercats Win 23-20
The Silverbacks took on the defending champions in their third ever road game in franchise history. This game started much like the last one. Jamar Lackson had a two yard run for a touchdown to put the Sabercats up 7-0 followed by a thirty-nine yard field goal from Matthew McDairmid to put them up 10-0. A forty eight yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would end the quarter 3-10 in favor of San Jose. New York would come out firing in the second quarter when Jackson Kingston caught a one yard pass from Howitzer to tie the game at 10-10. Rando Cardrissian would score on a two yard run with seven minutes in the quarter to put the Sabercats up 17-10. McDairmid kicked a twenty-eight yard field goal through the uprights with eleven seconds left in the quarter to make it 10-20 at the half. A thirty-one yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would be the only points put up in the third as the game went into the fourth quarter 13-20 in favor of San Jose.
New York tied the game 20-20 on a two yard Sam Howitzer touchdown pass to Sean Snyder with ten minutes left in the game. Once again, the Silverbacks would get their heartbroken in dramatic fashion however as Matthew McDairmid kicked a forty-four yard field goal with a minute and twelve seconds left on the cloak to give them Sabercats the win.
Week 7: New York City Silverbacks (0-6) @ New Orleans Second Line (2-4), New Orleans Second Line Win 24-16
This was the third game of a four game road trip for the Silverbacks. The only points scored in the first quarter was a twenty-two yard field goal from Juke Thomason. The second quarter was a bit more lively as The Second line scored on a thirty-three yard pass from Ben Slothlisberger to Ed Barker, 0-10 Second Line. Dougie Smalls kicked back to back field goals, forty-three and forty-six yards, respectively to make it 6-10 at the start of the second half.
The third quarter started out with a bang as Mason Blaylock returned a kickoff ninety four yard for a touchdown, 17-6 Second Line. A fifty three yard field goal from Smalls followed by a one yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston closed the gap to one at the start of the fourth, 16-17. However, a four yard touchdown run by Forrest Gump shut the door on New York with ten minutes left. New Orleans Second Line win 24-16
Week 8: New York City Silverbacks (0-7) @ Sarasota Sailfish (2-5), Sailfish Win 41-13
This game was a blowout. The first score of the game was a ten yard pass from Dexter Banks to Raphtalia chan to put the Sailfish up 7-0. They would continue to dominate the Silverback with a one yard run by Raphtalia Chan that would put them up 14-0 to end the first quarter The Silverback came back with a forty-six yard field goal by Dougie Smalls only to be countered by a twenty-six yard field goal by Jacob Small, 3-17. The Silverback's wouldn't let the Sailfish escape the first half that easily however and a twenty-five yard field goal by Dougie Smalls made it 6-17 going into the second half.
The Third quarter was all Sarasota however as Dexter Banks ll dropped a six yard touchdown pass to Michael Witheblock and a seven yard touchdown pass to Rayne Gordon to make it 6-31. He threw another touchdown to Rayne Gordon to kick off the fourth as the Sailfish ran up the score to 6-38. The Silverback's still tried to fight back and Howitzer dumped off a seven yard touchdown pass to Jackson Kingston to make it 13-38.
The Sailfish weren't done destroying New York however as Jacob Small slammed home a thirty-nine yard field goal to make it 13-41 with three minutes left to go in the game. The Silverbacks were unable to make a comeback and suffered their eight loss of the season.
Week 9: Philadelphia Liberty (3-5) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-8), Liberty Win 33-28
The first quarter of this game was really uneventful until Randy Vuxta caught a two yard pass from Brock Phoenix for a touchdown with two minutes and forty four seconds left in the quarter. The first quarter ended 7-0 Liberty. Ashley Owens scored on an eight yard run with fourteen minutes left in the second to tie the game 7-7. A thirty two yard field goal from Jake Fencik put the Liberty up 10 -7 which was countered with a twenty-two yard touchdown pass from Howitzer to Kingston to put the Silverbacks up 14-10. However the Liberty would end the half up 16 - 14 after two field goals from Jake Fencik..
The first score of the second half was a twelve yard pass from Brock Phoenix to Killian Chambers that put the Liberty up 23-14. In the fourth, Fencik would nail an eighteen yard field goal, 26 - 14 Philadelphia. The Silverbacks would answer with a twelve yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston for a touchdown, 26-21 Silverbacks. The Liberty would take the lead however with a fourteen yard touchdown pass from Phoenix to Randy Vuxta with four minutes and twenty seven seconds left. The Silverbacks wouldn't go away without a fight however as Sean Snyder caught a four yard pass from Sam Howitzer to make it 33-28. Unfortunately they ran out of time and lost 33 - 28.
Week 10: New York City Silverbacks (0-9) @ Austin Copperheads (4-5), Copperheads Win 31-7
The first rematch in New York Silverbacks franchise history. The game started out pretty bad for the Silverbacks as they gave up a one yard touchdown run to Zoe Watts and a two yard touchdown run to Kichwa Jones to put the Copperheads up 14-0 to close the first. For the first time all season, neither team scored in the second so we went into the half still with a 14-0 score.
The Copperheads offensive onslaught continued in the third with a thirty-five yard touchdown pass from Easton Cole to Eddie Jeeta and a twenty-three yard field goal from Pseudo QB to put the Copperheads up 24-0 going in the fourth. An eight yard pass from Easton Cole to Friedrich Vequan opended the scoring in the fourth, 31-0 Copperheads.
New York would avoid being shut out however as Sam Howitzer connected with Jackson Kingston with a nineteen yard touchdown with seven seconds left in the game. Final score, 31-7.
Week 11: Arizona Outlaws (5-5) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-10), Silverbacks win 24-21
The game started out the way alot of them had for the SIlverbacks with the Outlaws scoring on an eight yard pass from Jay Cue to Heath Evans for a touchdown that gave them the first lead of the game 7 -0. New York would come back with a thirty-four yard field goal from Dougie Smalls with eight seconds left in the first quarter to make it 7-3 to start the second quarter.
Ashley Owens would run the ball in from the three yard line to make it 10-7 in favor of New York with eleven minutes and eight seconds left to go in the half. A Thirty nine yard field goal from J.J Jay-Jaymison would tie the game up at 10-10 before the Silverbacks would retake the lead on a seven yard connection from Sam Howtizer to Leon McDavid. It was 17-10 Silverbacks to start the second half. Jay-Jamison sent another one through the uprights to open scoring in the third quarter, 13-17 Silverbacks. Owens ran it in again, this time from the six yard line to make it 13-24 Silverbacks.
The Outlaws had a chance when they scored on a eight yard pass from Jay Cue to Heath Evans and followed up with a sucessful two point conversion with nine minutes and fifty four seconds left in the game. Thankfully, The Silverbacks managed to hold on however and won their first game in franchise history 21-24 over the Arizona Outlaws.
Week 12: New Orleans Second Line (5-6) @ New York City Silverbacks (1-10), Silverbacks win 29-10
The Silverbacks were looking for the first back-to-back wins in Franchise history as the game began. The only score of the first quarter was a thirty-six yard field goal by Dougie Smalls to put New York up 0-3 going into the second. Smalls kicked another field goal, nineteen yards long this time to increase the Silverbacks lead to 0-6. New Orleans fired back with a twenty-two yard field of their own however as Lefty Louis put one through the uprights to make it 6-3 going into the second half.
Smalls kicked an impresive fifty one yard field goal with eight minutes to go in the third to make it 3-9 in favor of New York. A three yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston would make it 3-16 as the fourth began. Smalls kicked another twenty-nine yard field goal to make it 3-19 before Thor Kirkby returned a twenty-five yard interception for a touchdown with seven minutes and fifteen seconds to go. Dougie Smalls hit his fifth field goal of the game to make it 3-29 in favor of New York with less then five minutes to go. The Second Line did manage to get a last second four yard touchdown pass from Ben Slothlisberger to Adam Spencer to make it 10-29 but it was too late and the New York Silverbacks won their second game in franchise history.
Week 13: Honolulu Hahalua (7-5) @ New York City Silverbacks (2-10), Silverbacks win 30-17
The New York City Silverbacks came out firing on all cylinders as they took an early 3-0 lead off of a thirty-one yard Dougie Smalls field goal. That was the only score of the first quarter so the game went into the second 3-0. Smalls notched another twenty-five yard field goal to put New York up 6-0. The Silverbacks followed this up with a Sam Howitzer touchdown to Ashley Owens to put The Silverbacks up 13-0. The Hahalua wouldn’t be kept off the board this half though as a twenty-eight yard connection between Jed Podolak and Luke Skywalker put them on the board 13-7. Smalls would kick another eighteen yard field goal to put New York up 16-7 at the start of the second half. The Hahalua scored first in the second half on an eight yard pass from Luke Skywalker to Jed Podolak to cut the lead to two, 14-16 New York. The Silverbacks answered back with a ten yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to increase the lead by seven, 14-23 New York. They continued their onslaught with a thirty-yard interception return for a touchdown by Thor Kirkby, 14-30 Silverbacks. The Hahalua weren’t done however as Venus Power kicked a twenty-eight yard field goal with fourteen minutes to go left in the game, 17-30 New York. Unfortunately, Honolulu wouldn’t be able to complete the come back and the Silverbacks won their third game in a row.
Week 14: New York City Silverbacks (3-10) @ Orange County Otters (10-3), Otters Win 33-27
The Otters scored first on a one yard run from Tatsua Nakamura with seven minutes left in the first quarter. The Silverbacks came back with two forty-five yard field goals from Dougie Smalls to end the quarter, 6-7 Otters. The Otters scored on an eleven yard touchdown pass from Suleiman Ramza to Jeffery Phillips, 6-14 Orange County. The Silverback’s responded with a sixteen yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder for a touchdown, 13-14 Otters. Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname kicked a thirty-three yard field goal from the Otters to increase their lead, 13-17 but the Silverback’s closed the first half with a twenty-five yard touchdown pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to make it 20-17 Silverback’s at the start of the second half.
The third quarter was all Orange Country as Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname kicked a thirty-eight yard field goal and Tyrone Biggums had a thirty five yard interception return for a touchdown to make it 20-27 Otters. They followed that up with another Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname field goal to make it 30-20 in favor of the Otters to start the fourth. Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname notched his fourth field goal of the game with nine minutes left in the quarter to make it 33-20 Otters. However the Silverback’s still fought hard and scored on a two yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to make it 27-33 with one minute and thirty-six seconds left in the game. They couldn’t complete the comeback however and lost 27-33 to Orange County.
Week 15: New York City Silverbacks (3-11) @ Chicago Butchers (7-7), Butchers Win 34-32
Silverbacks opened up scoring with a nine yard run by Ashley Owens for a ouchdown, 7-0 Silverbacks. Chicago responded with a four yard pass from George O’Donnell and a one yard run by Baby Yoda to make it 14-7 in favor of the Butchers at the start of the second half. Dougie Smalls kicked a twenty-yard field goal to bring the Silverbacks within 4, 14-10 Butchers.
Sean O’Leary had a fantastic ninety-two yard kick return for a touchdown to make it 21-10 Butchers. Then Ashley Owens ran it in from the one to make it 17-21 Butchers. The last score of the second half was a four yard touchdown pass from George O’Donnell to Sean Leary, 28-17. The first score of the second half was a forty-one yard field goal by Sam Sidekick to makte it 17-31 Butchers. Then Dougie Smalls responded with a forty-three yard field goal of his own to make it 20-31 Butchers. The kickers duel that was the third quarter ended with a twenty-five yard field goal from Sam Sidekick, 34-20 Butchers to start the fourth. The fourth quarter was all Silverback’s as they scored on a twenty-yard field goal from Dougie Smalls and a thirteen yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Leon McDavid. However they would fail the two point conversion and that would be the dagger that would kill them as Dougie Smalls would kick an eighteen yard field goal to make it 32-34 Butchers with three minutes and forty eight seconds to go. Unfortnately The Silverbacks weren’t able to do anything in those last three minutes and lost 32-34 to Chicago.
Week 16: San Jose Sabercats (9-6) @ New York City Silverbacks (3-12) Silverbacks Win 27 -13
The only score of the first quarter was a twenty-two yard field goal by Matthew Mcdairmid. The Silverback’s scored first in the second quarter however off of a forty-two yard field goal by Dougie Smalls. The Sabercats retalitied with a forty-five yard field goal of their own to make it 6-3 San Jose. The Silverbck’s would tie it up with a nineteen yard field goal from Dougie Smalls to tie it 6-6 at the start of the second half.0
New York would take the lead in the third quarter with a twenty-five yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston for a touchdown, 13-6 Silverbacks. San Jose would respond with a four yard touchdown pass from Monterey Jack to Nate Swift to make it 13-13 at the start of the fourth. The fourth quarter was all New York as they scored on a sixteen yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder to make it 20-13 in favor of New York followed by a twenty-two yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to make it 27-13 with fifty sevens seconds left in the game. They would go on to win their final game of the season 27-13 and finish with a record of 4-12.

An eighteen yard field goal would pile on another three points for the Outlaws as they would take a commanding 10-0 lead going into the second. The second quarter would see two more J.J. Jay-Jaymison field goal that would increase the Outlaws lead to 16-0. Despite the heavy onslaught they faced in the first half, The Silverbacks came out strong in the second half, A twenty-five yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would put New York on the board in the second half , 3-16. A twenty-five yard touchdown pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston would cut the lead to six as New York ended the half down six, 10-16.
The Outlaws would try their best to stifle the comeback quickly as J.J. Jay-Jaymison nailed a thirty-five yard field goal to put Arizona up 19-10. The Silverback’s wouldn’t be stopped however as a seven yard Buster Bawls run would put them within two points of the Outlaws with nine minutes left in the game. A twenty-yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would give the Silverback’s hope for their first win as they now lead 20-19. Their hopes would be dashed just as they were in Week 2 by the Otters. A clutch four yard dash to the end zone by quarterback Jay Cue would put the Outlaws up 25-20 and seal the deal for Outlaws.
Week 4: Austin Copperheads (1-2) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-3), Copperheads Win 27-13
The Copperheads come into this game on a two game losing streak, they won their opener against Hawaii but dropped the following two to Orange County and Philadelphia in back to back weeks.
The first score of the game was a three yard run by Kinchwa Jones that put the Copperheads up 7-0 though the Silverbacks closed the gap with a thirty yard field goal from Dougie Smalls. The first quarter ended 7-3. The Silverbacks started the second quarter the same way they started the first with another thirty-seven yard field goal by Dougie Smalls to close the gap to one, 7-6 Copperheads. The Copperheads retaliated with a twenty-four yard field goal of their own from Pseudo QB that put them ahead 10 - 6 going into the second half.
The only points put up in the third was another thirty-one yard field goal from Pseudo QB. Austin really turned it on in the fourth quarter. A seven yard Kinchwa Jones run put them up 20-6 and a fifty one yard interception return for a touchdown by Lesean Crooks all but shut the door on the Silverbacks. To New York's credit however, they didn't give up completely and an Ashley Owens two yard run with a minute and fifty seven seconds left in the fourth gave us our final score of 27-13.
Week 5: New York City Silverbacks (0-4) @ Honolulu Hahalua (2-2) , Hahalua Win 36-21
Honolulu came out strong in the first quarter. Two back to back field goals, forty and thirty nine yards, respectively from Venus power put them up 6-0 with nine minutes left in the first. They followed that up with a six yard Luke Skywalker pass to Jed Podolak to put them up 13-0 going into the second.The onslaught continued in the second half with a forty-three yard field goal from Powers and a four yard run fron Nicholas Ayers to build Hahalua’s lead to 23-0. Despite the sizable lead that Honolulu built, The Silverbacks didn’t give up as they came back with a fifty-four yard bomb from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder to make it 23-7 going into the second half.
Sadly, The second half started much like the first half with a nineteen yard interception return from a touchdown by Davriel Lavigne and a forty-three yard field goal from Venus Power. Her second forty-three yard field goal of the game. Howitzer dumped another twenty-two yard pass to Snyder for a touchdown as the score closed to 14-33 going into the fourth quarter.
A six yard pass from Howitzer to Leon McDavid brought the game the closest it had been since kickoff, 21-33 before Venus Power vaniquished the Silverbacks once and for all with a thirty-two yard field goal.
Week 6: New York City Silverbacks (0-5) @ San Jose Sabercats (3-2), Sabercats Win 23-20
The Silverbacks took on the defending champions in their third ever road game in franchise history. This game started much like the last one. Jamar Lackson had a two yard run for a touchdown to put the Sabercats up 7-0 followed by a thirty-nine yard field goal from Matthew McDairmid to put them up 10-0. A forty eight yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would end the quarter 3-10 in favor of San Jose. New York would come out firing in the second quarter when Jackson Kingston caught a one yard pass from Howitzer to tie the game at 10-10. Rando Cardrissian would score on a two yard run with seven minutes in the quarter to put the Sabercats up 17-10. McDairmid kicked a twenty-eight yard field goal through the uprights with eleven seconds left in the quarter to make it 10-20 at the half. A thirty-one yard field goal from Dougie Smalls would be the only points put up in the third as the game went into the fourth quarter 13-20 in favor of San Jose.
New York tied the game 20-20 on a two yard Sam Howitzer touchdown pass to Sean Snyder with ten minutes left in the game. Once again, the Silverbacks would get their heartbroken in dramatic fashion however as Matthew McDairmid kicked a forty-four yard field goal with a minute and twelve seconds left on the cloak to give them Sabercats the win.
Week 7: New York City Silverbacks (0-6) @ New Orleans Second Line (2-4), New Orleans Second Line Win 24-16
This was the third game of a four game road trip for the Silverbacks. The only points scored in the first quarter was a twenty-two yard field goal from Juke Thomason. The second quarter was a bit more lively as The Second line scored on a thirty-three yard pass from Ben Slothlisberger to Ed Barker, 0-10 Second Line. Dougie Smalls kicked back to back field goals, forty-three and forty-six yards, respectively to make it 6-10 at the start of the second half.
The third quarter started out with a bang as Mason Blaylock returned a kickoff ninety four yard for a touchdown, 17-6 Second Line. A fifty three yard field goal from Smalls followed by a one yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston closed the gap to one at the start of the fourth, 16-17. However, a four yard touchdown run by Forrest Gump shut the door on New York with ten minutes left. New Orleans Second Line win 24-16
Week 8: New York City Silverbacks (0-7) @ Sarasota Sailfish (2-5), Sailfish Win 41-13
This game was a blowout. The first score of the game was a ten yard pass from Dexter Banks to Raphtalia chan to put the Sailfish up 7-0. They would continue to dominate the Silverback with a one yard run by Raphtalia Chan that would put them up 14-0 to end the first quarter The Silverback came back with a forty-six yard field goal by Dougie Smalls only to be countered by a twenty-six yard field goal by Jacob Small, 3-17. The Silverback's wouldn't let the Sailfish escape the first half that easily however and a twenty-five yard field goal by Dougie Smalls made it 6-17 going into the second half.
The Third quarter was all Sarasota however as Dexter Banks ll dropped a six yard touchdown pass to Michael Witheblock and a seven yard touchdown pass to Rayne Gordon to make it 6-31. He threw another touchdown to Rayne Gordon to kick off the fourth as the Sailfish ran up the score to 6-38. The Silverback's still tried to fight back and Howitzer dumped off a seven yard touchdown pass to Jackson Kingston to make it 13-38.
The Sailfish weren't done destroying New York however as Jacob Small slammed home a thirty-nine yard field goal to make it 13-41 with three minutes left to go in the game. The Silverbacks were unable to make a comeback and suffered their eight loss of the season.
Week 9: Philadelphia Liberty (3-5) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-8), Liberty Win 33-28
The first quarter of this game was really uneventful until Randy Vuxta caught a two yard pass from Brock Phoenix for a touchdown with two minutes and forty four seconds left in the quarter. The first quarter ended 7-0 Liberty. Ashley Owens scored on an eight yard run with fourteen minutes left in the second to tie the game 7-7. A thirty two yard field goal from Jake Fencik put the Liberty up 10 -7 which was countered with a twenty-two yard touchdown pass from Howitzer to Kingston to put the Silverbacks up 14-10. However the Liberty would end the half up 16 - 14 after two field goals from Jake Fencik..
The first score of the second half was a twelve yard pass from Brock Phoenix to Killian Chambers that put the Liberty up 23-14. In the fourth, Fencik would nail an eighteen yard field goal, 26 - 14 Philadelphia. The Silverbacks would answer with a twelve yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston for a touchdown, 26-21 Silverbacks. The Liberty would take the lead however with a fourteen yard touchdown pass from Phoenix to Randy Vuxta with four minutes and twenty seven seconds left. The Silverbacks wouldn't go away without a fight however as Sean Snyder caught a four yard pass from Sam Howitzer to make it 33-28. Unfortunately they ran out of time and lost 33 - 28.
Week 10: New York City Silverbacks (0-9) @ Austin Copperheads (4-5), Copperheads Win 31-7
The first rematch in New York Silverbacks franchise history. The game started out pretty bad for the Silverbacks as they gave up a one yard touchdown run to Zoe Watts and a two yard touchdown run to Kichwa Jones to put the Copperheads up 14-0 to close the first. For the first time all season, neither team scored in the second so we went into the half still with a 14-0 score.
The Copperheads offensive onslaught continued in the third with a thirty-five yard touchdown pass from Easton Cole to Eddie Jeeta and a twenty-three yard field goal from Pseudo QB to put the Copperheads up 24-0 going in the fourth. An eight yard pass from Easton Cole to Friedrich Vequan opended the scoring in the fourth, 31-0 Copperheads.
New York would avoid being shut out however as Sam Howitzer connected with Jackson Kingston with a nineteen yard touchdown with seven seconds left in the game. Final score, 31-7.
Week 11: Arizona Outlaws (5-5) @ New York City Silverbacks (0-10), Silverbacks win 24-21
The game started out the way alot of them had for the SIlverbacks with the Outlaws scoring on an eight yard pass from Jay Cue to Heath Evans for a touchdown that gave them the first lead of the game 7 -0. New York would come back with a thirty-four yard field goal from Dougie Smalls with eight seconds left in the first quarter to make it 7-3 to start the second quarter.
Ashley Owens would run the ball in from the three yard line to make it 10-7 in favor of New York with eleven minutes and eight seconds left to go in the half. A Thirty nine yard field goal from J.J Jay-Jaymison would tie the game up at 10-10 before the Silverbacks would retake the lead on a seven yard connection from Sam Howtizer to Leon McDavid. It was 17-10 Silverbacks to start the second half. Jay-Jamison sent another one through the uprights to open scoring in the third quarter, 13-17 Silverbacks. Owens ran it in again, this time from the six yard line to make it 13-24 Silverbacks.
The Outlaws had a chance when they scored on a eight yard pass from Jay Cue to Heath Evans and followed up with a sucessful two point conversion with nine minutes and fifty four seconds left in the game. Thankfully, The Silverbacks managed to hold on however and won their first game in franchise history 21-24 over the Arizona Outlaws.
Week 12: New Orleans Second Line (5-6) @ New York City Silverbacks (1-10), Silverbacks win 29-10
The Silverbacks were looking for the first back-to-back wins in Franchise history as the game began. The only score of the first quarter was a thirty-six yard field goal by Dougie Smalls to put New York up 0-3 going into the second. Smalls kicked another field goal, nineteen yards long this time to increase the Silverbacks lead to 0-6. New Orleans fired back with a twenty-two yard field of their own however as Lefty Louis put one through the uprights to make it 6-3 going into the second half.
Smalls kicked an impresive fifty one yard field goal with eight minutes to go in the third to make it 3-9 in favor of New York. A three yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston would make it 3-16 as the fourth began. Smalls kicked another twenty-nine yard field goal to make it 3-19 before Thor Kirkby returned a twenty-five yard interception for a touchdown with seven minutes and fifteen seconds to go. Dougie Smalls hit his fifth field goal of the game to make it 3-29 in favor of New York with less then five minutes to go. The Second Line did manage to get a last second four yard touchdown pass from Ben Slothlisberger to Adam Spencer to make it 10-29 but it was too late and the New York Silverbacks won their second game in franchise history.
Week 13: Honolulu Hahalua (7-5) @ New York City Silverbacks (2-10), Silverbacks win 30-17
The New York City Silverbacks came out firing on all cylinders as they took an early 3-0 lead off of a thirty-one yard Dougie Smalls field goal. That was the only score of the first quarter so the game went into the second 3-0. Smalls notched another twenty-five yard field goal to put New York up 6-0. The Silverbacks followed this up with a Sam Howitzer touchdown to Ashley Owens to put The Silverbacks up 13-0. The Hahalua wouldn’t be kept off the board this half though as a twenty-eight yard connection between Jed Podolak and Luke Skywalker put them on the board 13-7. Smalls would kick another eighteen yard field goal to put New York up 16-7 at the start of the second half. The Hahalua scored first in the second half on an eight yard pass from Luke Skywalker to Jed Podolak to cut the lead to two, 14-16 New York. The Silverbacks answered back with a ten yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to increase the lead by seven, 14-23 New York. They continued their onslaught with a thirty-yard interception return for a touchdown by Thor Kirkby, 14-30 Silverbacks. The Hahalua weren’t done however as Venus Power kicked a twenty-eight yard field goal with fourteen minutes to go left in the game, 17-30 New York. Unfortunately, Honolulu wouldn’t be able to complete the come back and the Silverbacks won their third game in a row.
Week 14: New York City Silverbacks (3-10) @ Orange County Otters (10-3), Otters Win 33-27
The Otters scored first on a one yard run from Tatsua Nakamura with seven minutes left in the first quarter. The Silverbacks came back with two forty-five yard field goals from Dougie Smalls to end the quarter, 6-7 Otters. The Otters scored on an eleven yard touchdown pass from Suleiman Ramza to Jeffery Phillips, 6-14 Orange County. The Silverback’s responded with a sixteen yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder for a touchdown, 13-14 Otters. Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname kicked a thirty-three yard field goal from the Otters to increase their lead, 13-17 but the Silverback’s closed the first half with a twenty-five yard touchdown pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to make it 20-17 Silverback’s at the start of the second half.
The third quarter was all Orange Country as Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname kicked a thirty-eight yard field goal and Tyrone Biggums had a thirty five yard interception return for a touchdown to make it 20-27 Otters. They followed that up with another Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname field goal to make it 30-20 in favor of the Otters to start the fourth. Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname notched his fourth field goal of the game with nine minutes left in the quarter to make it 33-20 Otters. However the Silverback’s still fought hard and scored on a two yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to make it 27-33 with one minute and thirty-six seconds left in the game. They couldn’t complete the comeback however and lost 27-33 to Orange County.
Week 15: New York City Silverbacks (3-11) @ Chicago Butchers (7-7), Butchers Win 34-32
Silverbacks opened up scoring with a nine yard run by Ashley Owens for a ouchdown, 7-0 Silverbacks. Chicago responded with a four yard pass from George O’Donnell and a one yard run by Baby Yoda to make it 14-7 in favor of the Butchers at the start of the second half. Dougie Smalls kicked a twenty-yard field goal to bring the Silverbacks within 4, 14-10 Butchers.
Sean O’Leary had a fantastic ninety-two yard kick return for a touchdown to make it 21-10 Butchers. Then Ashley Owens ran it in from the one to make it 17-21 Butchers. The last score of the second half was a four yard touchdown pass from George O’Donnell to Sean Leary, 28-17. The first score of the second half was a forty-one yard field goal by Sam Sidekick to makte it 17-31 Butchers. Then Dougie Smalls responded with a forty-three yard field goal of his own to make it 20-31 Butchers. The kickers duel that was the third quarter ended with a twenty-five yard field goal from Sam Sidekick, 34-20 Butchers to start the fourth. The fourth quarter was all Silverback’s as they scored on a twenty-yard field goal from Dougie Smalls and a thirteen yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Leon McDavid. However they would fail the two point conversion and that would be the dagger that would kill them as Dougie Smalls would kick an eighteen yard field goal to make it 32-34 Butchers with three minutes and forty eight seconds to go. Unfortnately The Silverbacks weren’t able to do anything in those last three minutes and lost 32-34 to Chicago.
Week 16: San Jose Sabercats (9-6) @ New York City Silverbacks (3-12) Silverbacks Win 27 -13
The only score of the first quarter was a twenty-two yard field goal by Matthew Mcdairmid. The Silverback’s scored first in the second quarter however off of a forty-two yard field goal by Dougie Smalls. The Sabercats retalitied with a forty-five yard field goal of their own to make it 6-3 San Jose. The Silverbck’s would tie it up with a nineteen yard field goal from Dougie Smalls to tie it 6-6 at the start of the second half.0
New York would take the lead in the third quarter with a twenty-five yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston for a touchdown, 13-6 Silverbacks. San Jose would respond with a four yard touchdown pass from Monterey Jack to Nate Swift to make it 13-13 at the start of the fourth. The fourth quarter was all New York as they scored on a sixteen yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Sean Snyder to make it 20-13 in favor of New York followed by a twenty-two yard pass from Sam Howitzer to Jackson Kingston to make it 27-13 with fifty sevens seconds left in the game. They would go on to win their final game of the season 27-13 and finish with a record of 4-12.
