DUE TO SIZE LIMITATIONS, THIS IS PART 1 OF A 3-PART POST
Please split as follows:
woelkers - 15%
Reaper11b - 13%
RussDrivesTheBus - 19%
Dewalt27 - 10%
TheCC - 15%
DarknessRising - 18%
ckroyal92 - 9%
BenDover - 1%
Hey everyone! It’s been a couple seasons since I’ve written any media, so you know what that means. It’s time for me to drag a bunch of clowns together to redraft the entire league. These clowns include: TheCC, Dewalt27, ckroyal92, DarknessRising, woelkers, Reaper11B, and myself. BenDover also started with us in the project, but didn’t make it to the end. Special shoutout to Reaper for stepping in on short notice to complete the draft. Much love.
Now then, logistically, things got a bit out of whack because I wanted to add my pal DarknessRising to the mix. If you don’t know, Darkness is a lovely Aussie fella who has not yet moved to the USA. As such, he is about 12 hours ahead of us time-wise. This did add a bit of length to the draft process. How much, you may be asking. The first pick of this draft was made on November 4th.
The rules:
Teams by user:
woelkers: AUS, SAR
Russ: OCO, COL
CK: BAL, HON
Darkness: SJS, CHI
Reaper: NOLA, YKW
Dewalt: AZ, PHI
CC: NYS, BER
Some clarifying info: We grouped Defensive Lineman together to add a bit more flexibility and to combat positional scarcity. Similarly, we grouped Defensive Backs together because, while there are a lot of different DBs in the league, some people wanted to abuse Safeties and some wanted more balance. Neither option is wrong, but one is more wrong. In either case, we wanted to allow that flexibility. The WR/TE slot was tossed around a bit between being a full Offensive Flex position or a limited flex. Ultimately, we decided that the ability to add one more Wide Receiver or double up on your Tight Ends was enough variety, as adding a 3rd Running Back could be a bit too powerful. And adding a 2nd Offensive Lineman option there could limit the already small pool for the rest of the league.
With all of that having been said, it’s time for everyone’s favorite part: Control+F and find your name, and don’t read the rest of the draft! Have at it!!
#1 - AUS - Prince Vegeta - S - jeffie43 - S21
Every great franchise begins with a solid foundation, and this is the type of player who provides that for his franchise. Prince Vegeta is a sturdy cornerstone for a defense operating in a pass-happy league, setting the tone for what this new look Copperhead team is about early. Meanwhile, Jeffie brings a magnetic energy to the locker room, and front office experience with one of the best teams in league history. This, to me, was a no-brainer with the opening pick of the draft.
#2 - OCO - Douglas Quaid - Linebacker - HENDRIX 2.0 - S21
As the old saying goes, “Defense wins championships.’ And I tend to agree. There was a balancing act in this draft project as far as when is the right time to target certain positions, but with a pick this early, I was going defense all the way. Quaid has been one of the best linebackers in the league for a number of seasons and will now be the anchor of the new Otters defense. He’s the highest TPE Linebacker by over 100 points and has a couple more seasons before he regresses. Should be a rock for about 4 more seasons, before transitioning into a smaller role.
#3 - BAL - Galf Wilf - LB - Moosecop - S20
Coming off of an absolutely monstrous Season 25, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year entered this season as his last before hitting regression & with over 1,000 TPE, he should be able to sustain that elite level of play for a few more seasons. Moose is a user who I’ve known for a while across leagues & he’s proven himself to be a consistently high earner over long periods of time; exactly the kind of guy I’m looking for to quarterback my defense.
#4 - SJS - Raphtalia Chan - RB - Frostbite - S21
Very quickly you will notice that the San Jose Sabercats in this league redraft put a high price on offence and what better way to show it than making their first pick the highest TPE offensive player in the league. Not only do they have such a high TPE player with 2 seasons before regression on their hands, Frost as a user is extremely well liked, skilful as a recipient of an expansion team and someone who will bring a locker room together, even if it's to tell him he sucks lmap. From player to user, this pick was a no brainer for the San Jose Offense-cats.
#5 - NOLA - Immanuel Blackstone - Defensive End - nunccoepi - S21
This is a user who has been around for quite sometime and has a reputation of building nothing but successful players. A former GM and a HOF with his former player. A DROTY and a DEOTY winner. I could not pass up the chance to take a legend. A position that is critical for defense and one that is not crushed by regression after one or two seasons.
#6 AZ - Cuco Clemente - S - BillyBolo53 - S22
Not picking very early was great to try and see if there were any positions that went on a run early. That not being the case, as I did with expansion I’m looking for great earners that have all the needed TPE for their position, with a few seasons left before regression. Cuco is going to be a great leader and an excellent piece for Arizona to build around.
#7 - NYS - Osiris Firestorm-Fjord - Cornerback - HalfEatenOnionBagel - S21
New New York, who dis? With the New York Silverbacks’ first pick in the draft at number seven overall, I’m going to select my friend HEOB, Osiris Firestorm-Fjord. He’s my teammate on the Chicago Butchers. He was kind of a bit of a mentor to me when first starting out in the league. He taught me about cornerback builds, and welcomed me into the league. One impressive thing about him is that even after stepping away from the league temporarily for a bit due to personal reasons, the S21 cornerback is still ranked second in the league among cornerbacks in TPE. He’s already come back from his hiatus a while ago, so I’ve got no worries there. He’s a very positive guy in the locker room, which is what you look for at the top of the draft. His player was a Cornerback of the Year candidate last season, so the sim loves his player as well. This was a pretty easy pick in my opinion.
#8 - CHI – Desmond Scarlett – CB – Unicorn – S20
The Chicago franchise prides themselves on winning their games through a brutal defence that denies the offence of any easy opportunity for yards or points. What better way to do this than by having not just the highest rated defensive player, but in the entire league. Scarlett will prove to be one of the foundation players of the secondary unit and whilst having a relatively quiet career for his skill, all it takes is the right setting and team to be a part of for him to truly display why he is the most talented player in the league as of now.
#9 - PHI - Colby Jack - QB - Flyeaglesfly - S22
I planned on taking QB asap with my later team. I didn't want to play around and get stuck without one. I didn't expect that I would be taking the first QB, but i figured i may be able to force a run and then it won't hurt as much. I chose Fly over the other QBs because if you’ve seen the eagles play this year he could really use a win. Welcome to the team buddy, You can be our Carson Wentz.
#10 - COL - Jamie Nkiah - S - Drizzy - S20
This is a passing league and as such, in order to succeed, you need a great Secondary. Nkiah has the 10th highest TPE in the entire league, and is also the 2nd highest TPE Safety. The only Safety higher is Mason Blaylock, but he is a season older, so I elected to pass him up for Jamie. S20 will enter regression in the first season of this hypothetical league, so I will have a short window to start grooming a replacement and I’ll need to shoot for younger DBs to slot in around him. A tough task indeed as those are the hottest commodities in this draft.
#11 - HON - Otis Allen - DT - KoltClassic - S21
Meatball meatball, spaghetti underneath! Ravioli ravioli, Great Barrier Reef! I couldn’t resist that one. I absolutely love Kolt; one of the most underrated users & players in the league in my opinion. He’s been an absolute pleasure to have in the San Jose LR & if I’m moving to Honolulu, my meatball’s coming with me.
#12 - BER - Pete “Plop” Miller - Defensive Tackle - BRNXB0MBERS - S21
With Berlin’s first pick in the draft, we’re going with a defensive pick, Pete “Plop” Miller. He’s a top defensive tackle, and he’s a pretty young player. As for the user, I don’t know them personally, but I see them around and know that they’re active. I’ve also never heard anything bad about them, which is obviously a plus.
#13 - YKW - Sam Howitzer - Quarterback - Trautner - S24
Sticking with my game plan to grab some of the best users at the front of the draft I continued here with Trautner. His S/LB from YKW back in S10 went on to be in the Hall of Fame and his experience in the league is nothing short of an asset. Grabbing a young Quarterback this early with his TPE and length away from regression was a no brainer to cement my offense.
#14 - SAR - Chika Fujiwara - QB - Jackets28 - S21
The QB position is the most important position in this league; the quality of your franchise QB can really make or break your offense, so I wanted to give the Sailfish a strong centerpiece. Chika Fujiwara has had a tough go of it with Baltimore, but she still boasts the most raw talent of any QB in the league, and maybe a change of scenery is all she needs to start trending the right direction. Starboy, meanwhile, brings an infectious passion for his team to the locker room, and front office experience to boot.
#15 - SAR - Eldrick Avery - CB - RansackTheUniverse - S22
Equally as important as a top tier QB is a sturdy secondary to counter, thus the Sailfish take Eldrick Avery here. Eldrick Avery has several solid seasons left in him, presenting a challenge to any opposing WR (and of course to the QB throwing to that WR), and selecting him helps bring balance to the Sailfish roster early. Ransack is a quieter user, in my experience, but I have a fondness for that calm nature, so I have no problem committing to a quiet user who’s earning as well as anybody could ask.
#16 - YKW - Colt Mendoza - Cornerback - iStegosauruz - S22
Here we are with another great user for the league. iStegosauruz has cemented himself across the league in many ways. After grabbing my Quarterback on offense, it was not time to snag my QB of the defense. A high earner with over one thousand TPE and a few seasons from regression he will be able to lockdown top Wide Receivers.
#17 - BER - Brandon Booker - Cornerback - Memento Mori - S22
With Berlin’s second pick in the draft, at pick 17, we are selecting cornerback Brandon Booker. Booker is a top 50 player in terms of TPE, at the time of this draft starting. He is also 7th in TPE in the S22 draft class. Cornerback is a position where you need very high TPE, so we wanted to get our number one lockdown corner early on. As for the user, he has some fans, he has some haters, but he’s a former ISFL general manager, which is almost always nice to have on your team, and probably in your war room.
#18 - HON - Monterey Jack - QB - Rradum - S22
Say cheese! Show of hands, who’s shocked by this one? Rrad’s been my ride or die here for over a year now & with a few QBs coming off the board already, there was no way I was going to let him slip through my fingers.
#19 - COL - Haha Mango-Panda - LB - furiousPanda - S22
As a Linebacker myself who played Defensive End for the first 4 seasons of my career, I watched Haha’s career with keen interest. We were drafted in the same class, so I was interested to see how he and I stacked up. Predictably, he has had an amazing string of seasons and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get him as the anchor of my front-seven. Something else to consider here is that 8 DBs had come off the board compared to only 2 Linebackers. Panda is a pretty fun user, so having him in the locker room will be a boost.
#20 - PHI - Troen Egghands - DE- Troen - S22
Max earning DEs. They’re important even if their stats don't always say so. This max earning user has earned to be picked this high. They continue to be one of the best earners from that monster reddit class and will last for at least 2 or 3 seasons after regression as one of the best players at the position. I also believe this to be a scarce position which adds to the value of this pick.
#21 - CHI – Mason Blaylock – S – Jay_Doctor – S19
Chicago looks to ensure that their secondary unit really will be the anchor of the defensive unit, picking up the experienced Blaylock with their second pick. He is rated as being the second best safety in the league and brings over 7 seasons of experience and knowledge to the team, where he can inspire and lead with a steady head the defensive unit around the park. Not much he hasn’t seen and not much he can’t deal with, Blaylock will be roaming the middle of the field orchestrating the plays whilst leading by example with his own impressive array of skills and determination
#22 - NYS - George O’Donnell - Quarterback - Leafer - S21
With my second pick as the New York Silverbacks, I’m going to go with another homer pick in George O’Donnell. This is another one of my teammates on the Chicago Butchers, and is our fearless quarterback. Now, he’s going to be the fearless quarterback for the new look New York Silverbacks. He’s not the most active guy in the locker room, but he’s nice when he’s around, and he earns exceptionally well. He will be a cornerstone for this franchise for several more seasons.
#23 - AZ - Andrew Witten - CB - Mithrandir - S22
This pick was very easy to justify. You need more defensive backs than any other position as I intended to have a Cornerback play Nickleback. There were five Cornerbacks taken in between my picks. He checks all the criteria I mentioned previously. If all of that isn’t enough, Mith is one of my favorite people in the league and I would be glad to add his player to my team in this redraft.
#24 - NOLA - Ben Slothlisberger - Quarterback - slothfacekilla - S22
Grabbing my offensive anchor here was my plan. Getting Sloth here for me was a steal. I grab a great user and a Quarterback with miles still left in the tank before I need to groom his replacement. His sim luck has not always been on his side, but this was still a no brainer here for me. At over one thousand TPE and a few seasons before regression he was a lock.
#25 - SJS - Jay Cue - QB - Opera_Phantom - S18
For a strong two-way offence, the Sabercats picked up the world class gunslinger of Jay Cue. Despite not having as much success in his ageing career as others from his time, Cue still remains at a high TPE, second at the quarterback position, to reign over a world class offence and get the job done. Having Chan in the backfield there is no pressure on Cue, so he can lob it up like he likes to and on his day, there is no other quarterback you would want on your team than Mr. Cue who shows the young kids that he most certainly can hold it together with them.
#26 - BAL - Johnny Hellzapoppin - S - Colabear - S22
Cola’s been a hyperactive user pretty much since the day he joined the league & with still a couple seasons until regression hits, Hellzapoppin should be a force in the secondary for seasons to come. Besides, it never hurts to have HO on your side.
#27 - OCO - Shawn Dawkins - Safety - Number 82 - S22
I’m very excited to be able to pick a member of the S22 #DBrotherhood in 82. A fantastic user who took to the league very quickly, Dawkins is one of the top-10 highest earning members of the huge S22 class. His stats on the field have been consistently solid, and with the right cast around him, he could really start to shine. And, if you’ve ever seen one of my redrafts, you know that I love speed, which Dawkins has all of. Overall, one of the easiest picks in this draft for the Otters and should be a great leader in the locker room.
#28 - AUS - Suleiman Ramza - QB - Blasoon - S22
Again, QB is arguably the most important position in this league, and while there are plenty of quality options to choose from, I’m not one to wait on securing the face of the franchise. Suleiman Ramza, the successor to maybe the greatest to ever play the game, is the type of talent this team deserves, a player who can make things happen with both his arm and his legs. Blasoon as a user is one of the nicest people in this league, a real treat if you ask me, and he can fit seamlessly into just about any situation; this is a home run pick at the QB position, no doubt.
#29 - AUS - Magnus Rikiya - DT - Tesla - S22
Generally, I’m going to start these by speaking to the player drafted, but this pick deserves a unique shift. Tesla is a phenomenal user, and although I haven’t had the pleasure of interacting with her quite as much as I might like to, I cannot stress enough how fortunate it is that she’s available at this pick. Her player, Magnus Rikiya, has had a bit of rough luck, maybe in part on account of the commitment to the nose tackle archetype (which I love to hate), but a strong character choice is indicative of a strong user, and I won’t fault Tesla for committing to the character. Magnus Rikiya will seal the middle of the line well here.
#30 - OCO - Nick Kaepercolin - Quarterback - Highhaschdi - S22
Quarterback is arguably the most important position on any team, so after seeing a solid number come off the board, I didn’t want to wait any longer to take mine. High has GM experience and has a seal of approval as a user from my mentor, Dewalt. High’s brief time as a Quarterback has gone pretty well, and if I can get him the right weapons, he should be able to continue to improve and lead this offense for roughly 5 more seasons. It may be wise to look for his replacement in the next draft or two, so that they can start earning sooner rather than later.
#31 - BAL - Tyler Oles JR - CB - Oles - S22
Doubling down on defense & specifically the secondary, we back up the Hellzapoppin pick with Oles JR. With still a few seasons before regression starts, Oles JR is already a true CB1 & arguably one of the best around, so I would expect nothing less from him in the near future as well. As far as Oles the user, he’s another one I’ve known for a long time as he’s been in the league since Season 2. A former GM himself, he brings a wealth of knowledge & experience as well as a Hall of Fame pedigree.
#32 - SJS - Leon McDavid - TE - MN_Moosey - S21
Remembering that this pick was done with McDavid was a Tight End and not a Defensive Tackle, the Sabercats continue to push that world class offence, not giving themselves another S21 player with ample time before regression as well as being the highest TPE player in their position. McDavid provides an extremely safe option to move the chains forward in the air for Cue and will prove to be a backbone of this offence from day 1. On an even better note, this move sees McDavid return home to San Jose to see out his glory days on an offence that truly can call themselves the best in the league.
#33 - NOLA - Zamir Kehla - Cornerback - retrospace111 - S22
Well, RIP Zamir, I made this pick before Zamir retired. In my mind he is still active for this redraft. Although he may have not got along with every user here. His player and his earning ability made him an asset. If he would still be here with us, he would have been well over the one thousand TPE mark and would have been another staple for this New Orleans defense.
#34 - AZ - Matt “Son of Havoc” Cross - S - J0EB - S22
Guess what? I picked another DB and S22 players. S22 players are going to be crazy because there are so many and provide great opportunity in this draft. J0EB is a high earning user and has stood out to me since the day I scouted him in the DSFL draft. J0EB and his Lucha underground render are going to be great with his S22 classmates
#35 - NYS - Rapid Eagle - Defensive Tackle - rapideagle - S21
The New York Silverbacks’ third round pick will address defense again, picking up a top five defensive tackle. He’s since switched to defensive end, but we agreed to honor the league as it stood at the start of the draft. I don’t know Rapid Eagle myself, but I think that he’s friends with a friend of mine, Negs. If he’s cool with Negs, then I’m cool with him too. Hopefully Rapid Eagle can anchor the middle of the defensive line for years to come.
#36 - CHI – Rotticus Scott – DT – RotticusScott – S21
After getting two defensive anchors for their secondary, the real plan for Chicago’s defence starts to take shape with the drafting of Rotticus Scott. A guy who came back to the game after a very short-lived retirement, he is a top three defensive tackle in the league (before McDavid’s move to the DT position). Chicago wants to ensure that the running game of any team they face is severely limited, whilst constantly pressuring the quarterback into either taking sacks, throwing the ball away, in-completing passes or converting their pressure into interceptions. Rotticus will become the day-one spearhead of this plan by Chicago and the leader of the D-line and the terror they will inflict on the opposition teams.
#37 - PHI - Patrik Money - DT - Pmoney - S22
Pmoney and Fly can Gm this team if they would like to. This pick is easy money. Again, S22 picks should go early in this draft. They have too much upside in value and a high floor. He slides right now to Egghands another elite S22 Dline player.
#38 - COL - Brock Phoenix - QB - Leafs4ever - S19
Brock Phoenix is not cursed. I will not believe it. His time in Philly has been disappointing to say the least, but I want to believe that with the right pieces around him, he can truly flourish. Now, Brock is from the S19 class, so I will need to draft a Quarterback almost immediately. But Brock still has around 3 seasons left of quality play, and I want to give him that chance. I’ve never talked to Leafs directly, but I have been rooting for him to turn things around in Philly and have statistical seasons that he is capable of. Hopefully, the weapons I draft him will help this dream become a reality (hypothetically).
#39 - HON - Greedy Sly - S - Sylphreni - S23
The current GM of the Colorado Yeti, Syl has been a hyperactive user since joining in Season 22 & his player is a reflection of that. Everyone knows how much I love my safeties, so of course I have to attack that market early. My only concern here is the possible flashbacks he’ll have playing with some former SaberCats.
#40 - BER - Lawrence Bass - Linebacker - RussDrivesTheBus - S22
After a long time off the clock, watching great players come off the board, Berlin is ecstatic to see this guy still on the board at pick 40. Lawrence Bass has been playing out of position for the majority of his career, slotting in at defensive end for the back to back Ultimus winning San Jose Sabercats. Well, with the Berlin Fire Salamanders, he is finally going to get back to his natural position of linebacker. With this pick we’re getting a max earner, an equipment buyer, and one of the best users in the league. If you don’t know Russ, you’re missing out in a huge way. I’m extremely happy to get him on my team in Berlin.
#41 - YKW - Maverick Bowie - Safety - Tonzy - S24
With being well on his way to being over eight hundred TPE in his next update. Snagging a young high earning, great user to help lock down the secondary with Colt(iSteg), Maverick will continue to shine and help seal our no-fly zone. Also, Tonzy brings GM experience and can help in our War Room.
#42 - SAR - Deshun Jones - LB - Forty Jordy - S22
I had the great luxury of playing with the elite Mo Berry, whose talent knew no bounds; every team needs one of those players, so, the Sailfish here commit a pick to Deshun Jones. Deshun Jones is a young stud, and figures to wreak havoc on opposing offenses as the leader of the new front six for the Sailfish. And, of course, Forty Jordy, my Stretch counterpart, is a high-quality user, an excellent addition to this locker room.
#43 - SAR - William Lim - WR - yonggarius - S22
Chika Fujiwara has potential to be a great QB, but she needs a reliable WR1 to truly shine. William Lim has been one of the best in the business for quite some time, and he will shine with a prime QB tossing him the rock. Yonggarius, meanwhile, is one of the users who has always managed to surprise me. Despite being halfway around the globe from most of the rest of us, he still adds an invigorating presence to a locker room and brings helpful insight to a front office as well.
#44 - YKW - Lesean Paris Crooks - Cornerback - The_kidd - S23
Sitting at just under nine hundred TPE is Mr. Crooks. I said we wanted a No-Fly zone, and we are going to have it. With Crooks, Mendoza and Bowie. Good luck throwing the ball. I do not know much about this user; I know he is very active and has a solid bank account to continue to max earn and fend off regression as long as possible.
#45 - BER - Mario VonPebbles - Defensive End - Jangorhino - S22
With our fourth round pick we’re sticking on the defensive side of the ball. Say what you will about jango, but this is one of my guys. He’s a max earner with nearly $300 million in his ISFL bank account. He’s a war room member for the current Berlin Fire Salamanders, so perhaps we’ll leverage that. VonPebbles is a member of the S22 draft class, which means he has plenty of good football left in him. This is a huge pick up for the Hot Lizzies.
#46 - HON - Derred de Ville - LB - Exilizer - S22
Always pays to have HO on your side, right? To be honest, I wish I knew more about them given their advanced status in the league, but I do know that Exi’s been a very strong earner since joining & de Ville should fit nicely into the heart of our defense.
#47 - COL - Michael Witheblock - WR - sakrosankt - S22
Because I took one of the older Quarterbacks in the draft, I need to get him some of the best offensive weapons that I can, so that Colorado can compete immediately. Enter Witheblock. This kid is a beast. In his last 3 seasons, he is averaging 1300 yards. 1300. Per season. He is the second Wide Receiver off the board and I’m ecstatic that he wasn’t the first. Sakro is a GM, so he knows what it takes to run a great team. His experience along with others like Drizzy will help lead this team into the future.
#48 - PHI - James Cho - DE - Cho1325 - S22
Another Wraith Dline player. Well my team is going to have some great chemistry to say the least. This Dline is going to dominate the league getting after QBs and stopping run plays early.
#49 - CHI – Tyler Montain – DT – Amidships – S23
Standing right next to Rotticus is going to be Tyler Montain. Going for a young and old combo here, Montain has rapidly increased his reputation for being one of the best defensive tackles in the league and still has a long time left in his career, providing a long term base of the defensive line for Chicago. Pairing him with Rotticus will allow him to just learn from his bit of extra experience and prove an extremely capable and formidable duo on the line.
#50 - NYS - Eddie Jeeta - Wide Receiver - QuirkyTurtle - S22
My first pick of the draft that hails from the vaunted S22 draft class. I see Jeeta’s name on fantasy rankings all the time, which shows that he puts up solid production year in and year out. As an S22 draftee, he’s still got a lot of time left in the league, and as a top earner I’m sure he will be able to make a formidable duo with his new quarterback, George O’Donnell.
#51 - AZ - Luke Skywalker - QB - Muse316 - S22
There were 8 QBs taken before Luke. I was concerned that I would miss the cut out that ended up being Luke. QBs past this were either too Young or Too Old for how I wanted to build this team, picking up Skywalker here cements this team in win now mode and not for the future. 4 straight S22 picks, all going to peak at the same time.
#52 - NOLA - Heinrick Kackpoo - Linebacker - gbfn - S23
Another defensive player, yes, there is a theme for my draft so far and it probably is not going to change for a bit. Defense will win you championships. And Heinrick is one of those can't miss linebackers. Just shy of one thousand TPE and a few seasons from regression he should help in all aspects of our defense. Combined with Blackstone I feel a run stopping duo coming up.
#53 - SJS - Ed Barker - WR - Wombat - S21
Another San Jose pick, another offensive player and the third to be from S21, Ed Barker stands as the second highest TPE wide receiver and adds to the firepower of this offence. Of course, being the speed receiver archetype, if McDavid was the steady and consistent yard eater for this offence, Barker will prove the spark and flashes of brilliance to obtain large yardage plays and be the poster boy for breathtaking moments for this offence. He creates a timeline for the offence that should see at least 2 seasons of being the best in the league, if not a third or fourth with the start of regression sitting in amongst the strike players. Barker continues to caps off what will be an unstoppable force of an offence.
#54 - BAL - John Smirh - DT - Muford - S21
Oh Muford, my Muford! Of course I picked this guy. I drafted his first 2 players to San Jose & he’s nothing short of amazing. Yet another user I’ve known for a very long time & have GM’d with in fact, so I know exactly what I’m getting here & the fact that Smirh fits into the only level of the defense I hadn’t touched yet is just a bonus.
#55 - OCO - Lord Beerus - Cornerback - scorycory - S19
What is there to say about Beerus? He's a god! Our draft board was created before he switched to Offensive Line, so for all intents and purposes, he will remain a CB for his career. Cory has been around for a while now, and his first player, Kacey Dream was also very good. He knows what he’s doing sim-wise as far as getting results from his players. Beerus is good for aout 15 PDs and 2 picks in any season, which is pretty solid overall. He’s already dipping into regression, but he will be more than serviceable as CB1 while some younger talent grows around him.
#56 - AUS - Fawn Dillmiballs - LB - enforcer - S22
Although Fawn Dillmiballs made a switch to DT, the position I’ve grown so fond of, since we began working on this mock draft, he’ll be listed at LB for the new look Copperheads. Especially with Magnus Rikiya plowing the way in front of him, Fawn Dillmiballs has a ton of potential to have great success patrolling the middle of the defense. Enforcer, meanwhile, is a laugh and a half, just an all-around outstanding locker room presence, not that this team has anything to worry about there.
#57 - AUS - Matt Krause - CB - Reaper11B - S22
I’d been chomping at the bit to add to the Copperhead secondary by the time I made this pick, and I have to say I’m glad Matt Krause was still available. You remember the time Matt Krause had that pick six in the S24 Ultimus? So does he, unfortunately. But, more than simply giving this team a solid CB presence, this pick adds Reaper to the locker room, and Reaper, although he doesn’t always show it, can bring some solid insight to a war room conversation. Plus, he’s just generally good people, I say mostly because he helped write, and thus is probably reading, this article.
#58 - OCO - Jamar Lackson - Running Back - BenDover - S22
The 7th round wonder-pick only makes it to the 5th round in this draft. I have been lucky enough to be on a team with Jamar since our DSFL days with the Minnesota Grey Ducks. We won back-to-back Ultimus championships together with San Jose and I’m hoping to continue that success with him on this new team. He’s got GM experience and has been in both Minn and SJS war rooms for multiple seasons. His knowledge of the league is vast and his on-field talent is immense. There’s not much else to say here, other than I’m relieved to have him on the squad and to not have to gameplan against him.
#59 - BAL - Benson Bayley Jr. - OL - BayleyIsland - S22
Starting to notice a theme here? Bayley’s the other half of the Chicago GM tandem & another user I’ve known for a long time. I’m generally pretty picky about which human OL I’d trust enough to earn enough to be worth foregoing a bot & being the son of Hall of Fame CB Benson Bayley, Bayley Jr. certainly fits that bill.
#60 - SJS - Acura Skyline - RB - Skyline - S22
Like all offences, San Jose will still be using a running back by committee, even with the best running back in the league in Chan, and providing that comes in Acura Skyline. After spending his early years behind the legendary Hanyadi, Skyline knows exactly how to play that RB2 spot and how to get the job for his team done over his own personal glory. A real team player, Skyline also is no slouch in TPE, currently the tenth best running back by TPE, although recently inactive, he is at a level where he will provide a great rotation for a mammoth one-two punch on the ground.
#61 - NOLA - Stanislaw Koniecpolski - Linebacker - majesiu - S22
Another Linebacker and another defensive player drafted by Reaper in this redraft. Majesiu is a long-time user and high earner. He already has one player with massive amounts of awards and an Ultimus championship. I have no doubt he will help bring this defense to the top. And hopefully be all around stopper in the middle with Kackpoo.
#62 - AZ - Adelie de Pengu - LB - IsaStarcrossed - S23
When we did this whole league redraft I remember thinking that LB seemed weaker than other positions. This time I make sure to grab a fantastic young LB early. Isa might be one of the most well known users in this league. He will be able to buy equipment and training forever even if they never earned a dime more. Welcome to the Team Mr. Pengu!
#63 - NYS - Dex Kennedy - Linebacker - Dagumpa - S22
Dex Kennedy was the star linebacker for us during our time together as teammates on the Minnesota Grey Ducks, where we started our careers together. He has always been someone that we get super excited about when he pops into the locker room to hang out with us. He’s always near the top of the stat leaders in tackles and other impact plays, so he will be a fantastic captain and shot caller for this defense. I couldn’t be happier to bring one of my Grey Ducks brothers to my new team!
#64 - CHI – Sandro Ryeu – DE – s4ndr0p – S22
On one side of the dynamic duo of defensive tackles, Chicago butchers will be fielding Sandro Ryeu. He has consistently put together great seasons and as a balance player, will work well at both intimidating quarterbacks and stopping the outside run. He is at a point in his career where he is just off his peak, and put in this line that is starting to take shape in Chicago, the Butchers’ name will be for carving up Offensive Lines every week.
#65 - PHI - Eugene Smoothie - S - Hamlet - S23
It's been awhile since I’ve drafted anything but Dline but I’ll change things up and add this great young safety. A year younger than the rest of my team but still very much effective. Plenty of room to grow but this team is looking like they might be looking for a ring ASAP.
#66 - COL - Jim Waters - CB - siddhus - S22
Siddhus has had some interesting history in this league, but his current player, Waters, is a revelation. Seemingly an interception machine, Waters has a ridiculous nose for the ball and makes play after play every season. When I think of Waters, I think of his 3 INT performance in S23 which really alerted people to his ability. While that may not be a norm, Waters is averaging 24 Pass Defenses EVERY SEASON. For 4 seasons. Sometimes you have to sit back and say that a player is blessed by the sim. This logic does not apply to being cursed by the sim because that does not fit my narrative.
#67 - HON - Tyron Shields - CB - TheCC - S22
CC’s kind of a goofball, but he should fit nicely here & Shields can finally step out of Oles’ shadow to be a CB1 for a few seasons anyway.
#68 - BER - Von Hayes - Defensive End - LimJahey - S22
Lim is another person that’s a friend of mine, and he’s a teammate of mine on the Chicago Butchers. He recently switched to defensive end, where he had a breakout season and made it on the Defensive End of the Year ballot. He’s the head of the ISFL graphics department. He’s a max earner, and he’s got a good bank account. He’s a war room member of the Chicago Butchers, and he’s a good dude. Happy to have him on the team.
#69 - YKW - Juan Domine - Linebacker - Maglubiyet - S24
Three linebackers in a row, yes, I know, I told you guys defense was a theme for the start of this redraft for me. Juan brings. A GM mindset to our team that will help us in the future in the War Room and continue to build a defense that might rival my other draft in New Orleans. With a solid bank account and on the verge of eight hundred plus TPE. I was super happy to grab Mag here. Could not have asked to have a nicer person on the team. CC highly complimented Mag. But who likes CC’s opinion?
#70 - SAR - Wesley Eriksen - S - Lightnoir - S22
Just as Austin needed a CB at 57, the Sailfish need a S here; Wesley Eriksen is, generally speaking, the best one of those available to them, and pairs well with CB Eldrick Avery. Although this secondary is likely not as strong as Austin’s, I figured with Chika Fujiwara at the helm of the offense, this team needs to take advantage and build some balance, and thus I was willing to sacrifice some (admittedly not much) defensive talent to make that happen. Lightnoir is another one of those users I haven’t had nearly enough opportunity to interact with, but those limited interactions have been nothing but pleasant, and so many others speak extremely highly of him, so I have no doubt he adds great character to the Sailfish locker room.
#71 - SAR - Daymond Brooks - DT - ForSucksFake - S22
Daymond Brooks feels like a slow burn version of Bubba Thumper, to me. Maybe part of that is because FSF absolutely refuses to leave me alone any time Daymond Brooks does anything remotely meaningful, but it is difficult to deny that he has talent, and although catching Bubba Thumper after a slow start to his career is going to be a tall order, enough hard work and he might be able to make that happen. The user, meanwhile…I cannot express enough how fantastic FSF’s energy is, and although I will always be the grumpy old fuck of the Minnesota war room, FSF has been known to bring a smile to my wrinkled face. Top tier user, top tier pick.
#72 - YKW - Harrison Andrews - Cornerback - abh89 - S24
Man doesn’t the Yellowknife secondary just keep getting better. Snagging my third corner here with user abh89 was perfect. He rounds out a fantastic CB crew. He is a GM with Mag in London and I just had to draft the duo in Yellowknife. Giving my war room tons of experience and leadership will only help keep Yellowknife on top.
#73 - BER - Tatsu Nakamura - Running Back - qWest - S22
We finally address the offensive side of the ball, waiting until the sixth round to do it. I was wanting to stick to defense, but I wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss out on Nakamura here. Since we’re waiting so long to address the offense, that will probably mean that we’re going to run the ball more often than pass it. This meant that I wanted a high TPE running back, and I got one in qWest. I haven’t had a ton of interactions with him, but he’s always been really nice when I have talked to him. He’s a former GM of the Portland Pythons, so he probably has some nice draft secrets or testing secrets, which will be valuable.
#74 - HON - Son Goku - DE - Naosu - S23
With defensive linemen flying off the board as of late, I had to make sure to grab a quality edge rusher & Naosu’s a former minors teammate of mine in PBE, so I know they’ll continue to earn at a solid clip.
#75 - COL - Rando Cardrissian - RB - GoonerBear - S21
Rando is easily one of the most underrated players and users in this entire league. While it would have been incredibly devastating, I had almost hoped that he was taken in the most recent expansion draft so that he could truly shine as an RB1. However, he is truly invisible to the rest of the league, so we got to hold onto him in SJS. I won’t make the same mistake that the expansion teams made by letting him pass. His versatility as a pass catcher should give Brock another option out of the backfield and will open up other playbooks. Gooner is an absolute peach, and winning 2 rings with him has been an honor. Hopefully, I can get him one more on his new team here.
#76 - PHI - Heath Evans - TE - Thor - S22
At this point I am planning Heath Evans to be the star of this offense. It's always been interesting to me when a team's top weapon is their Tight end. I have yet to be on any of those teams so I’m going to make that happen in this draft. Fantasy owners, You’ll be drafting Evans early in this fake league.
#77 - CHI – Korbin Abernathy – CB – Laser – S18
With the requirements met at the defensive line, Chicago move back to the secondary and seek the skills of another veteran to bolster up the secondary unit in Korbin Abernathy. With Desmond the king of the man to man and locking down the stars, Korbin excels at doing it all. He can lockdown a star-studded offence or he can cover a zone bigger than anyone else. Korbin fits perfectly into the day 1 defensive beast Chicago are trying to build and field and will create headaches for quarterbacks and wide receivers alike in a passing offence.
#78 - NYS - James Angler - Tight End - tMuse - S22
James Angler has been known for a few seasons now as one of the biggest receiving threats in the entire league, regardless of position. With this pick I figure I can line him up all over the field. He’s arguably the most flexible offensive player in the whole league. I’m going to put him at tight end, left wide receiver, right wide receiver, slot receiver, full back, and wherever else that I can find a place to put him. Wherever he is, he’s going to put up numbers.
#79 - AZ - Slinky Claxton - DE - Shiznit19 - S22
A smart former GM of mine once told me having a high TPE player on your DLine is crucial. At 765 TPE Slinky will be that player for me. I don't typically put a ton of stock into Dline as they seem so effective at lower TPE but I also know there isn't a ton of extra DE around the league so now isn't the time to wait and see how it goes in the draft.
#80 - NOLA - Jack Banks - Linebacker - TheRocheLimit - S22
Yep, the defense picks are still going. Jack will be the third linebacker drafted by me for New Orleans. He brings leadership and experience to our team and one hell of a player. Closing in on a thousand TPE and having won the DBRK award. I know I can count on him to help be a devastating contributor to our front seven.
#81 - SJS - Sean O’Leary - WR - Blueline - S19
Coming in to be WR2 as he sees out his career, Sean O’Leary has seen a lot during his time through the troubled Chicago days, their downfall and uprising but now comes onboard to the juggernaut offence of the Sabercats, playing his role as what will be the highest TPE WR2 in the league, who himself is a top 5 WR in the league. His wealth of knowledge as not only a player but one of the top players in his position will prove critical in ensuring a consistent and well-maintained WR room that will leave the Sabercats in a great place even after O’Leary has stopped taking the field.
#82 - BAL - Baby Yoda - RB - SwagSloth - S21
All-GM team? All-Chicago team? Call it whatever you want, but Swag is yet another fantastic user with a ton of experience in the league & with still another season after this before regression, Yoda should be an elite back for the next few seasons.
#83 - OCO - Thomas Passman - Wide Receiver - StamkosFan - S22
Passman is a beast. No two ways about it. He’s averaging around 900 yards and 8 TDs in each of his four seasons in the ISFL, and I don’t see him slowing down with the offense being built in this draft. StamkosFan is another user that has been around for quite a while, as Passman is his second player. And he just happens to be another player that scratches my itch for speed demons. As such, he’ll compete for the WR1 spot. But our next pick will have something to say about that.
#84 - AUS - Darrel Williams - RB - Ry_ - S20
Story time, children. Once upon a time, your old man was a DSFL GM, and he made Darrel Williams the first pick of the DSFL draft. Darrel Williams proceeded to run that Minnesota Grey Ducks team to an Ultimini, and he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing. Eventually, the Copperheads are going to need a WR for Suleiman Ramza to throw to, but I figured first we could pair him with another sturdy backfield threat and make this team’s offense a bit more of a balanced attack than that of the Sailfish. Darrel Williams has several seasons left in the tank and should pair nicely with the rushing threat of Suleiman Ramza. Plus, Ry is an outstanding user, somebody who would still be worthy of the first overall pick today.
#85 - AUS - Kai Sakura - WR - DarknessRising - S23
A bit younger than the backfield duo he’s being paired with, Kai Sakura still adds a dangerous receiving threat to the Copperheads offense here. Very similar to William Lim, Kai Sakura got an early opportunity to be the go-to WR for his team, and he has proven his talent ever since. Plus, Darkness is a calming presence for a locker room, and an insightful member to add to your war room. Although it took a while to get here, the Copperheads are starting to show the balance they deserve.
#86 - OCO - Tychondrius Hood - WR - Tylus - S23
Ladies and gentlemen (and others), we did it. Waiting on Tylus was a dangerous game of chicken to play with some many Minnesota alumni in charge of the other teams, but I got to reap the rewards. If you don’t know Tylus, you absolutely should. He’s the sweetest guy around and as an added bonus, he’s addicted to earning TPE. Hood’s production in San Jose has been pretty good, but fell off this year. That may have been a reason that he dropped so far in the draft, but I know that in the right offensive situation, he’ll shine bright like a diamond. Honestly, once I made this pick, the rest of the draft felt like luxury picks.
#87 - BAL - George Fisher - LB - AL_GRINGO - S22
A member of the dynamite class of San Jose S22s, Fisher brings a premium blend of speed & power which, alongside Wilf, should make for a deadly duo in the Baltimore linebacking corps. Al’s another user I’ve known for a while now, going back to our minor league days in PBE & he’s always been a consistently solid earner. He should have no problem fitting in with this group.
#88 - SJS - Bruce Buckley - OL - NicholasTheGreat - S22
No offence is complete without their Offensive Line and once again, San Jose looks no further than bringing in the highest offensive linemen in the league onto the roster. At the midpoint of their career, Buckley has multiple pro bowl appearances and has even won himself an OLoTY award and is a part of the gigantic push of the new brick walls being built amongst the league. With this pick, the Sabercats have a top 2 tpe player in each offensive position and now their superstars will have more time and protection due to having a superstar pancake eater in the form of Buckley.
#89 - NOLA - Jeffery Phillips - Tight End - DrunkenTeddy - S22
IS THAT AN OFFENSIVE PLAYER? Yes, yes, it is. DrunkenTeddy is a long-time user, and his player Jeffery Phillips has shined in OCO. His experience will bring a lot to New Orleans. And I really wanted to make sure to snag a great TE that can be a threat for Sloth.
#90 - AZ - Jackson Kingston - WR - Daybe - S23
Jackson Kingston has been one of the best Wide receivers in the league since expansion. I can't remember if they were able to win any awards but I’m hoping that they can continue to register more 1000+ yard seasons along with 10+ Tds seasons. Skywalker has more TPE than Kingstons current QBs so hopefully this should be seen as an improvement and improve their stats.
#91 - NYS - Luca Scabbia - Wide Receiver - enigmatic - S23
Luca Scabbia is my first pick from the S23 class, which was filled to the brim with wide receiver talent. Enigmatic is *another* teammate of mine from the Chicago Butchers. She’s one of my favorite people on the team. She’s a great earner. She will begrudgingly make some amazing graphics whenever she needs money. Her player also puts up numbers in the sim as well. In these uncertain times when we’re shaking up the entire league, pairing her with a quarterback that she is already very familiar with in George O’Donnell brings us a bit of stability that can’t hurt!
#92 - CHI – Hamish MacAndrew – S – IthicaHawk – S22
Chicago goes back to the secondary well in back-to-back picks and takes on Hamish MacAndrew, to really sure up how their core of defensive backs will look like. Hamish is a playmaker, the type of guy who will make the highlight plays, gets the big picks as well as the chicks. In a team filled with veteran presences so far, MacAndrew’s job is simple, ignite the team with a big play and fill the defensive unit with energy to have them play at a whole other level that will make them close to unstoppable.
#93 -PHI - Ben Stackinpaper - CB - benstackinpaper - S22
Ben and I were teammates on the hawks and he is one heck of a player. We’ve gone almost all S22 defense and we’ll keep it going. This is going to be all out for year 1 we want the ring this defense is going to make it happen.
#94 - COL - Philip Stein - S - IhateBobNutting - S23
The one and only Philip Stein. Stein seems to rub some people the wrong way, but I promise they would LOVE to have him on their team and in their locker room. Stein is an intensely dedicated team mate and wants his team to succeed over all. Can he be blunt at times? Yes. But sometimes it’s good to have someone around who won’t sugarcoat everything. He is knowledgeable about NFL football as well, so if you want to have discussions about that, he is also down to do so. In any case, Stein is relatively young and a fantastic earner, so he will be great in tandem with Nkiah. One more young DB should round out this new Colorado Secondary and help them compete right away.
#95 - HON - Doug Howlett - WR - Rufio_NZ - S23
A breakout star from the Season 23 draft class, Howlett has emerged as a true WR1 candidate with still a fair amount of time before hitting regression; should be a nice downfield target for Monty.
#96 - BER - Charlemagne Cortez - Quarterback - MrStennett - S24
Stennett is a fantastic user, and there aren’t a lot of people in the league that I’d rather slot in at quarterback than him. I barely missed being teammates with him in Chicago, as he retired his last player right as I joined the team, but he still hangs around the locker room occasionally where I’ve gotten to know him a little bit. He’s currently the designated Groundskeeper of the Chicago Butchers. I’m more than happy to grab Cortez as my quarterback of the future in Berlin.
#97 - YKW - Zoe Watts - Running Back - Kyamprac - S24
Here comes a piece that I was super excited about. Kyamprac is a fantastic user. Being a former award winner and current GM, I know I can count on Kyamprac and be able to lean on them in the War Room and keep pushing along with their player.
#98 - SAR - Keʻokeʻo Kāne-Maikaʻi - RB - Gucci - S22
I have a soft spot for a RB that can sort of do it all; Ashley Owens has been a staple of my offenses since he left Austin for Colorado. Keʻokeʻo Kāne-Maikaʻi brings that same tool set to the Sailfish offense, exactly the type of RB who is perfect to pair with Chika Fujiwara. With the proper attention, I could even see Keʻokeʻo Kāne-Maikaʻi eventually setting the career all-purpose yards record himself (which, I will shamelessly mention, Ashley Owens just did). Gucci, meanwhile, brings a vibrant force to your locker room, and likely to your front office; although we’ve had our disagreements, I like Gucci a ton, and having him as a user for this team at this point makes a ton of sense.
#99 - SAR - Griffin Porter - LB - AsylumParty - S23
Griffin Porter, to me, feels like a nose-to-the-grindstone style player, and that always showed through his updates (while I was still the Austin updater). Deshun Jones is likely the SLB for the Sailfish, so, enter Griffin Porter as his partner in crime at MLB. I know AsylumParty is a seasoned veteran of this league, but unfortunately my interactions with him have largely been limited to his update thread; still, even in that space, I can tell he’s easy to get along with, and a quality addition to any locker room.
#100 - YKW - Joel Drake - Safety - Rusfan - S24
Yep, The final piece to our starting Defensive Backfield. Rusfan is a fantastic user, and a great earner. Piecing together this Defensive Backfield was not easy. These guys really fell in the right spots and I could not be happier to add Rusfan to this group.
POST CONTINUES IN PART 2
The rules:
- Each user was given 2 teams to draft for, 1 from each conference.
- Draft order was then selected through a randomization process I honestly can't explain. Just know we made it so that no user picked twice in the same half of each round. So, 1-7 randomized, then 8-14.
- Cannot draft your own player.
- Must fill the team based on positional limits listed below.
- Cannot draft players that had retired prior to the draft board data being pulled.
- Position changes were ignored once the data for the draft board was pulled.
(In essence, the draft board data was final. If you think a player is in the wrong position, it’s almost certainly because they switched after we started.)
