The DSFL Kicker of the year award may not be important to you but it is extremely important to me. Hello my name is LSUFAN101 some of you may know me from the PBE as Burrow and some of you may know as Cade York, today I am going to be discussing the finalist for DSFL Kicker of the year and who I think should win based off of my opinion and the data and statistics I have analyzed, to the single person reading this have a great day and I love you.
It has been a good season for many DSFL kickers, there are two however that have stood above the rest. Today I will discuss those two and give my winner for DSFL Kicker of the Year. Let me start by naming my Kicker of the Year. Drum roll please
CADE YORK, yes I know you might say “he is bias” “you’re wrong” well let me explain. But first a quick reminder this media is sponsored by Raid shadow legends. Anyway let’s get into the rest
A brief background on Cade York, this is his third season in the DSFL, he was the 7th pick in the 2nd round of the S27 draft, he currently kicks for the Portland Pythons and is originally from Mckinney Texas. Now that we got that over with lets dive into the stats!
When you look at the stats for the DSFL Kickers the highest FG% is 85.2% and that belongs to Cade York. Now why is this important? Well Cade has been able to convert on his FGs pretty consistently, he is 23/27 on the season and that earns him the highest FG%. The two kickers behind him are Jean-Jacqus Leroy from Tijuana with 84.4% and Gluteus Maximus with 83.9%. So while it is not a huge lead, York still leads the league in Kick percentage.
Now some people may say “Lets look at how many kicks each kicker attempted”. Out of the three of those Kickers York kicked the LEAST amount of FGs. But if that's the case lets take a look at the distance of these FGs. Cade York made 23 FGs this season, he was 3/3 from under 20 yards, 3/3 from 20-29 yards, 5-6 from 30 to 39 yards, and 12/15 from 40+ yards with a long of 52. Of the three Kickers I mentioned Leroy kicked the most FGs, his stats are as follows, 1/1 from under 20 yards, 4-5 from 20-29 yards, 11-12 from 30-39 yards, 11/14 from 40+ yards with a long of 55. If you look at the numbers York attempted and made more FGs from 40+ yards than Leroy and 52% of York's made Field Goals came from 40+ yards, 50% of Leroy’s kicks came from under 40 yards. I would say York had attempted much harder kicks and he made them 80% of the time he attempted a kick from 40+. Not only does he lead in kicks from 40+ yards if look at the other two kickers in the race both Maximus and Leroy missed 2 kicks from under 40 yards, York missed just one.
You may ask, why are any of these stats important. Let me explain, if a kicker were to attempt 100 kicks from under 20 yards compared to a kicker who attempts 100 kicks from 50+ yards, the kicker who attempted the kicks from under 20 yards would more than likely have the higher kick percentage. York has had to attempt much harder kicks and he has made them. Maximus made 15 of his 26 made kicks from under 30 yards. To me that is not nearly as impressive as Yorks stats. York also attempted 46 PATs and made 45 of them which is tied for first in the league. Cade York is the most proven Kicker out of the three listed here and has had to attempt and make much more difficult FGs and has still managed to lead the league in FG%. It was a great season for may Kickers and Cade York had the best. If you disagree with me that is fine, please let me know why below! Cade York for DSFL Kicker of the Year.
