Every Year the ISFL celebrates the top rookie of the year, its the sign of the changing of the guard, and the rise of new super stars. Many some rookie of the years turn into super stars who dominate the league for years, but on the flip side there are many who crash out after a rookie year and end up never living up to the hype of their first season. I will be looking at all these rookies careers and see if they lived up to the hype. This award started in season two
Season 2
ORoTY: Darlane Farlane: Baltimore Hawks
The first ever ORoTY was a running back by the name of Darlane Farlane. In his rookie year he rushed for 1200 yards and was a key return man. he continued that form in his sophmore season however his efficency dropped massively, and while he still managed to rush for over 1000 yard, the Hawks decided to ship him off to the Yeti as they had a rising super star in Owen Tayler ready to be the main guy. The Yeti already had a RB in Boss Tweed, and Farlane was unable to earn play time and only was able to get 500 yard in two seasons. He was not able to crack into a roster for 2 seasons after this, but managed to land on Philly for his last two years. In his last ISFL season he was able to rush for 1200 yards. Farlane showed he had the talent to be a true RB in this ISFL but due to the fact that he had only 3 good years, and 3 bad years with a gap in between Farlane was unable to live up to the super star hype of the first ever ORoTY
DRoTY: Tyler Oles Sr.: Philadelphia Liberty
Alot of you likely remember Tyler Oles Jr. from his days as CB for the Chicago Butcher, however his father was not a bad player himself. Oles Sr. was a CB himself for and for the first few seasons of his career he was a very solid one for the Liberty. However the one thing that likely stopped him from reaching super star or hall of fame potential is his position switch half way through his career. The philly QB at the time Clifford Rove, was a great athlete however was not living up to the standard of a ISFL QB, Oles Sr, who played QB in College was able to beat him in a QB battle and ended up being phillys QB for four seasons while Rove played CB. This switch ended up being a great success and Philly made the ultimus two seasons in a row with oles under center, with them winning the 2nd time over the dominant otters. Oles unfortatly did not live up to the same standards his last two seasons, and while he is not a HOFmer, he is one of the greatest Philly Players ever
Season 3:
ORoTY: Trey Willie: Baltimore Hawks
The first HOFmer on this list, Trey Willie first burst onto the scene playing as a wavier pickup for Orange County, but come draft time it was Baltimore that ended up with the future HOFmer. Trey spent 9 seasons with baltimore where he won WRoTY twice helped the hawks make the Ultimus 4 times (winning once), and has set team records that are held to this day. He was only recently passed by William Lim for the all time recieving yard leader. Trey Willie finished his career with a few productive year in Arizona, and has lived up to the hype of the ORoTY
DRoTY: Franklin Harris Jr: Arizona Outlaws
Harris Only Spent 2 years on the Outlaws in which he won Defensive Back of the year as a rookie and help Zona get its third ring. However Harris had joined a team that was about to decline hard. A dramatic multi scandal left him desprate to leave arizona and he joined Yellowknife and decided to play Tight End. He was never as good at TE as he was at CB, however he did help Yellowknife win its first ultimus in franchise history. A player whose career might have been different Harris Jr. is remember very fondly in the north/
Season 4:
ORoTY: Steven O'Sullivan Orange County Otters
A season after his sibling joined the league, Steven ended up playing TE for the Otters with his sibling Jullian. A very dependable TE, he help the Otters win their first three championships, before leaving to join the Yeti, where he stayed for two years before ending his career In philly where he played 3 seasons. A pretty short career for a OROTY, he seemingly was already playing his best football once he got there and did not faulter much despite switching teams a few times in his career.
DRoTY: Noah Goodson Arizona Outlaws AND Blackford Oakes Las Vegas Legion
The First Double winners! These two went 1 and 2oa and I will talk about both, Noah Goodson was the first pick in the draft, and played on Arizona for two seasons before leaving to join Baltimore, and helped them make a few ultimus' winning one, Oakes was taken by Vegas who changed to New Orleans after a few seasons, and then became competitive Goodson and Oakes played eachother in the Ultimus 3 times in three years which Oakes ended up winning two. Oakes ended up the better player in the end, and ended up enshrined in the HOF
Season 5
ORoTY: John Watcher Baltimore Hawks
John watcher had a very solid rookie career, however his rookie season was the best season of his career in his first year. He spent 3 years in Baltimore then ended up on the Outlaws for the next 4 then spent a season in Colorodo in the last season. A relitiviely lowkey career without any pro bowls or anything.
DRoTY: Terrell Brister Las Vegas Legion and Ryan Sierra Orange County Otters:
Another year another shared winner in these early season. Ryan Sierra was drafted as a OL but swapped to DT and ended up being a life long otter, helping them win 2 Ultimus' towards the end of his career! Brister on the other hand was not as successful and ended up bouncing around teams, being on NOLA, SJS, and Colorodo before retiring in after only 6 years in the league
Season 6
ORoTY: Poopyface Tomatonose New Orleans Secondline
This is a interesting one, since despiting winning an award i cannot find him outside of his rookie season. I have a feeling a name change might have happened, since he doesnt appear on wolfie bot. I believe he may be Jaylon Broxon, but it is hard to know for certain, If he his Broxon, then he position swapped to defense and ended up playing for OCO for the vast majority of his career, helping them win a few ultimus'
DRoTY: Austin Roenick Baltimore Hawks
While Tomatonose identitiy might be up in the air, Roenicks certainly isnt, the future HOF player help baltimore get to 6 ultimus' winning 2 of them, and ended his career as the top of the tackle charts. While that record has been broken a few times since he retired he still was one of the best Linebackers of his era and lived up to the DRoTY hype
Season 7:
ORoTY: Verso L'Alto Baltimore Hawks
L'Alto was one of the best TEs in the league from the moment he joined the hawks, and he reward them with 12 seasons (with one season in the yeti randomly in the middle. L'Alto helped them get to 6 ultimus and won two of them and ended up being a four time TEoTY winner, and became a HOFmer
DRoTY: Desta Danger Colorado Yeti and Vladimir Fyodorovich Orange County Otters
The Third Time we have had a shared winner in this article now we have Desta Danger who played 6 seasons on the yeti, and did not seem to really pop off as a player in his short career, meanwhile Vladimir Fyodorovich was traded after his rookie campain to New Orleans, where he would be a cornerstone to the organization switching to wide reciever and being good enough to be inducted into the HOF at the end of his career
Season 8:
ORoTY: Viggo Squanch Arizona Outlaws
Viggo Squach was a pretty solid player for the Outlaws for six seasons, with them having four seasons of over 1000 yards. He ended up leaving the Outlaws to join the defending Champs Baltimore Hawks, however those two seasons where some of his least productive, and he retired after losing in the ultimus.
DRoTY: Mason Brown Orange County Otters
Mason Brown was a Otters legend, and stayed on that team for 9 years, he was a hall of famer and is 2nd all time for the otters in tackles. Brown won three ultimus' with the Otters and won LBoTY two times. He spent one final season on the YKW but in general has gone down as one of the greatest linebackers to ever play the game
Season 9:
ORoTY: Beat Meoff Philadelphia Liberty
I am not certain what happened in S9, but somehow a kicker won Rookie of the year. While he did have a good season he did not make a pro bowl this season and never made one in his career. He spent two years in Philly before finding himself in New Orleans where he spent 5 seasons. He finished 83% FG percentage, but his short career and lack of awards definently makes him a disapointing RoTY
DRoTY: Bucky Barnes Arizona Outlaws
Bucky Barnes was Arizonas 2oa pick back in Season 9 and was a huge part of their organization for a long time. He played for 5 seasons in Arizona before leaving to join Philly for two seasons. After a uneventful spell in Philly he rejoined Arizona, and helped them win the Ultimus in his first season back. Barnes spent his last 4 seasons with the Outlaws and was a key part of their team for most of the S10s
Season 10:
ORoTY: Marquise Brown Philadelphia Liberty
Despite a relatively shorter career, Marquise Brown was a dominant player in his time in the league. He won rookie of the year of the back of a 1902 yard season, which is a ISFL record for rushing yards in a season that has still held up 20 years later, Brown won RBoTY 4 times in a row and also took home a MVP (in a three way tie), Brown spent his best years on Philly before bouncing to join Baltimore, where he helped the Hawks win a Ultimus. Brown then returned to Philly for a year, before spending his last year in Chicago/
DRoTY: Kolby Deringer San Jose Sabercats
Kolby Deringer was a life long Sabercat spending his entire career playing for the Cats. While he did not win any individual awards, he helped SJS get over the hump and win their first ever Ultimus in Season 15. After he finished his 10 years with the team he retired as their franchise leader in tackles, a record he still holds to this day
Season 11:
ORoTY: Antonio Summer Yellowknife Wraiths
This is possibly the oddest case of a ORoTY, it seems like Summer played only 1 season in Yellowknife before moving to Baltimore and having an amazing season with the hawks. For some reason he vanished after only two seasons, both of which he got over 1000 all purposed yards. Despite having two amazing seasons on two different teams summer isfl career only lasted two years.
DRoTY: Alex Selich Arizona Outlaws
Selich was drafted by Arizona two picks before Summer however he had a much better career, he spent only three years in Arizona, winning LBoTY one time, before moving to Yellowknife, where he won two more LBoTY. He was a part of the Wraiths teams that ended up losing 4 ultimus' in a row. He was selected by Honolulu in the expansion draft ending his 8 season stay in Yellowknife, unfortunatly he had to watch the Wraiths win the Ultimus right after he left. He spent one year in Honolulu before spending his last year in Colorado
Season 12:
ORoTY: Dick Wizardry Yellowknife Wraiths
Despite loosing Antonio Summer after only one season, they where able to instantly replace him with Dick Wizardly. He gave Yellowkife four very good seasons before moving to Austin in expansion. Wizardly became a defensive player after this and retired after giving Austin 4 seasons/
DRoTY: Charlie Trout Baltimore Hawks
Another player who had a short career, Trout spent 6 seasons with the Hawks helping them win a Ultimus, however it seems like his productions halted after his 2nd season and he never recovered and ended up having a very short career
Season 13:
ORoTY: Tyler Swift New Orleans Second Line
Swift was a solid recieving back for the Second line for many season, and its clear he was mostly used as a pass catcher throughout his time with him even having one season where he didnt record a single rush, however after a few seasons as a makeshift reciever, he ended up converting himself to play on the DL, where he stayed for his final 4 seasons. He played on NOLA for 7 seasons and spent his last two seasons playing for San Jose
DRoTY: Johnny Snuggles Yellowknife Wraiths
A Hall of famer, and 1oa pick instantly being a star and long term player for the Wraiths. Snuggles helped the wraiths reach the Ultimus 5 times (with them only winning in the last one). Snuggles was a huge franchise changing player for the Wraiths and was one of the biggest reasons they where one of the best franchises during his career,
Seasons 14:
ORoTY: Fast Boija Philadelphia Liberty
Fast Boija is probably alot more well known for his dominant DSFL career more then his ISFL career, however his first season in Philly was huge. Filling the shoes of HOFmer Marquise Brown, Boija gave fans of Philly hope, however his rookie year was his best year, with his 2nd and 3rd year in philly being huge disapointments. He ended up on SJS where he spent four seasons, however never was able to eclipse 500 yards in his time in SJS.
DRoTY: Knute Knurtsson Yellowknige Wraiths
With back to back DRoTY, the Wraith faithful believed that they found their Secondary stars for the next decade, however Knute only lasted two years in Yellowknfe before ending on on Colorodo., where he spent 3 years before retiring, a dispointing career for someone who was viewed as a future star
Season 15:
ORoTY: Cooter Bigsby Yellowknife Wraiths
The key piece in turning Yellowknige into a perenial contender for basically the next decade, Bigsby is one of the greatest QBs of all time, with him winning two MVPs and taking the Wraiths to 5 ultimus, While he failed to win one with his first 4, he was able to win the ultimus in his final season with the wraiths, capping off a amazing career with the ring that alluded him to that point
DRoTY: Mo Berry Colorado Yeti
Season 15 seems to have overcorected with the disapointment of the S14 Rookies, with Berry joinging Bigsby as one of the greatest in his position. Berry spent his whole career with the yeti and was dominant throughout his time with the Yeti, winning LBoTY 4 times, which is more then any other LB, this also helped him win DPoTY 3 times. The Yeti finally where able to make two Ultimus' in the twilight of his career, and he helped the yeti bring home their first ever Ultimus in franchise history.
Season 16:
ORoTY: Sam Torenson Chicago Butchers
Torenson was a monster in chicago. He was drafted 1oa and dominated from the begining, he was able to win RBoTY in his first two seasons in the league. However he decided to leave Chicago to join the Liberty in his third season. While he never seemed to hit the hieghts he had in the butchers, he ended up spending the next 10 seasons of his career on the liberty. He holds the career record in carys in a insane career, Torenson was a huge player throughout his whole career and showed why he was worthy of ORoTY
DRoTY: Lanzer Grievous Orange County Otters
Lanzer Grievous was a very good player for the Otters during their threepeat in between S17->S19. Grievous spent 7 seasons with the otters in his career, and was able to win LBoTY one year too. A pretty sucessful career even if it ended somewhat earlier then you would hope for a young star (especially when you compare them to Torenson)
Season 17:
ORoTY:Ashley Owens Austin Coperheads
Owens and Torenson have a weirdly similar start to their career, with them both being 1oa picks who won ORoTY in their first season. However the wilder simularity is that they both ended up leaving the team that drafted them 1oa after only two seasons. Owens joined the Yeti and played there for for 6 seasons, where he was able to help the Yeti win a ultimus. In the twilight of his career, he left Colorodo to join the expansion team New York Silverbacks, where he had some of the best years of his career, winning OPoTY and RBoTY, and setting the record for all purpose yards in a single season. He spent three seasons on New York before retiring.
DRoTY: Julian McNorris Philadelphia Liberty
CB Julian McNorris exploded onto the scene in his rookie year. However he seemed to be unable to build upon this season, McNorris only spent 5 seasons on the liberty before retiring,
Season 18:
ORoTY: Marcella Toriki San Jose Sabercats
continueing a very weird trend, Toriki is the third RB in a row to win ORoTY and leave for another team early in their career. Toriki left the Sabercats after a successful season in San Jose, and ended up playing the next 8 seasons in New Orleans. Toriki helped the Second Line win an ultimus.
DRoTY: Pete Parker Colorado Yeti
Pete Parker ended up win DRoTY in this season, and ended up spending his entire career with the Yeti, playing a role in their first ultimus win, and ended his career making two more ultimus which he unfortunatly was not able to win, however he was able to play a crucial role in a very good era for the Yeti
Season 19:
ORoTY: Ruff Ruff Arizona Outlaws
a very good boy, Ruff Ruff was able to have three pretty solid years with the outlaws before ending up on the expansion team Honolulu Hahalua. Ruff Ruff only played two more years in Honolulu where he also had two 1000 yard rushing years, before ending his career
DRoTY: Mack Arianlacher New Orleans Second Line
Mack Arianlacher, was the first overall pick for the Second Line, however he was not able to really live up to the DRoTY hype he displayed in his first season. While he was able to help New Orleans win a ultimus, He like his fellow S19 RoTY Ruff Ruff, he was taken in the expansion draft by Honolulu where he spent 3 seasons, before bouncing around on austin for a year then Yellowknife for his last two seasons where he was able to pick up another Ultimus Ring
Season 20:
ORoTY: Jay Cue Arizona Outlaws
One of the more iconic QBs when i first joined the league, Cue was a very good QB for the outlaws during his time in the league, While he was known for some disapointment in the playoffs, Cue was a very solid QB during his tenure with him winning QBoTY twice in his career. He ended up gaining weight to play OL for one year in his career before retiring.
DRoTY Kyle Idlewyld Austin Cooperheads
Kyle Idlewyld or as hes more commonly known CarolinaBBQ Isbest was a huge rookie success in his first season, winning helping Austin win their first ever Ultimus in franchise history, he stayed pretty consistent throughout his career in austin, but only spent 6 seasons with Austin before retiring.
Season 21
ORoTY: Chris Kross Baltimore Hawks
Chris Kross was a surprising ORoTY with a pretty underwelming stat line in his rookie year of only 500 yards. in his next 4 seasons he had a similar stat line and was not able to really progress past that. He had one year in Yellowknife with 800 yards however decided to end his career despite this.
DRoTY: Immanuel Blackstone Colorodo Yeti
The First player who is still playing hits our list, Immanuel Blackstone spent almost his entire career on the Yeti (besides one weird day where he was shipped to honolulu), He is currently going into year 13 as he winds down his career, where he was able to win three DEoTY and helped Colorodo make the ultimus 4 times, winning once. He looks to make one last hurrah before father time catches up to the Hahalua Icon
Season 22:
ORoTY: Acura Skyline Yellowknife Wraiths
Skyline is someone who is quite interesting as he had a solid 8 year career on the Wraiths where he was able to win 3 ultimus with the wraiths and was a key and loyal member however, he fell off quite hard in his last 4 seasons with the team. However he was clearly was a huge part of the Yellowknife big success in the S20s
DRoTY: Ugarth the Dissector New Orleans Second Line
Ugarth the Dissector spent 6 seasons with the Secondline, however similar to Skyline, at the halfway point in his career, it seems like he saw his role in the defense deminise where he seemed to play a significantl smaller roll on the new orleans team. he was a member of the New Orleans team that went back to back Ultmus however lost both times
Season 23:
ORoTY: Jamar Lackson San Jose Sabercats
Jamar Lackson is the 2nd active player that makes this list, he was able to help the Sabercats win two back to back ultimus and was one of the better runningbacks of the last decade. Lackson has been a loyal member of SJS for the past decade and is entering his 10 season playing with the team.
DRoTY: Son Goku Sarasota Sailfish
Another long term member of the team that drafted him, Goku helped the Sailfish win two ultimus' and has been one of the better DE in the league during his time in the league, he is entering his 10 season with the Fish.
Season 24:
ORoTY: Nicholas Ayers Honolulu Hahalua
Ayers was a very solid player for the Hahalua for 5 seasons before controversy hit, and he got suspended for "sports betting" and he was announced he would retire. He played a few games with Yellowknife before he retired.
DRoTY: LeSean Paris Crooks Baltimore Hawks
LeSean Paris Crooks made his mark as a rookie in the hawks. However he ended up leaving after his DRoTY seasons and ended up signing for the Austin Coperheads where he spent the next 5 seasons of his career. After his spell in Austin he ended up joining the silverbacks where he currently is entering his 4th seasons with the team. On New York he was able to win his first ultimus
Season 25:
ORoTY: Doug Howlett Baltimore Hawks
Howlett had two amazing seasons with the hawks where he won WRoTY. But he ended up leaving Baltimore to sign with the Coperheads, where he spent four seasons before retiring. He unfortunatly seemed to have declined preduction wise every season since his rookie seasons, with his last two seasons being sub 1k yards
DRoTY: Melvin Murder-Moose Colorado Yeti
Melvin Murder-Moose is a huge part of the Yeti and was one of the best players on the Yeti for this time span, helping the Yeti reach two ultimus apperences. Melvin was able to win LBoTY, and has recently reached 100 career sacks.
Season 26:
ORoTY: Mike Boss Jr.Sarasota Sailfish
Boss Jr. was one of the better QBs of the recent era, with him being very good from day one. He helped Sarasota win two ultimus' during his time as QB and won OPoTY. He ended up putting on some weight to play a roll on Sarasota this seasons and guide the next QB in Sarasota
DRoTY: Etrigan T. Slayer Baltimore Hawks
Etrigan T. Slayer dominated his rookie year and was a lone brightspot during some disapointing days in Baltimore. While he retired quite early for his status, he was able to achieve a bit of success with him winning DEoTY.
Season 27
ORoTY: Charlamagne Cortez Arizona Outlaws
Cortez had a very successful career with the Outlaws, with him helping them be one of the most dominant teams of the era, Cortez was able to win MVP and QBoTY, and just only just recently retiring his career this past season
DRoTY: Vincent Jones Jr. New Orleans Secondline
Jones Jr is entering his 7th seasons with the Secondline, and has been pretty solid with the team. He helped the 2nd line make the ultimus in his rookie year but failed to win. Jones has been a pretty solid player for the team however is still young enough to make a larger impact
At this point anyone younger then this is still relitivily young and have not enter regression and surprisingly are all currently on the team that they won Rookie of the year with
Season 28:
ORoTY: Madison Hayes Chicago Butchers
DRoTY: Marlon Brando Berlin Fire Salamanders
Season 29
ORoTY Saleem Spence Sarasota Sailfish
DRoTY Xavier Walls Philadelphia Liberty
Season 30

Season 29
