Reports are streaming out of San Jose that kicker and punter, Booter McGavin had a meltdown in the San Jose locker room following the 31-28 loss to the Austin Copperheads. The disgruntled McGavin seems to be upset at the teams decision to go for it on 4th down instead of allowing him to attempt a 57 yard field goal to tie the game. Those familiar with the situation say Booter was yelling that he "Booms" balls and that he had more than enough muscle to make the kick. Booter was also said to be pointing out that he has "been perfect" this season and "will continue to be".
The blowup may have reached a head when Booter was found shouting directly in the face of his special teams coordinator. Booter and his coach almost came to blows over the disagreement. Booter was found yelling that he was the face of this team and that the coordinator should be kicked out of the league. The Sabercat teammates had to separate the coach and his kicker before punches were thrown.
It is unknown how San Jose will handle the Booter situation. His head coach and GM have come out in support of Booter suggesting that he is just a passionate player who wants to win. Booter's teammates also seem to have his back as one player anonymously stated "I choose to believe the team is holding Booter back from the MVP race because the league isn't ready". Regardless of support in the locker room, San Jose will need to figure out how to handle their temperamental kicker before tensions rise. With only a quarter of the season in the books San Jose sits at just 2-2 and will need to come together to make a playoff push.
