Double media time is upon is this off season which means another chance to write up something to write some stuff up for some big bucks. This off season for double media, we are tasked with writing about favorite memories during our time with the ISFL. There are so many to choose from, so I will just spit ball random things below highlighting some of my favorite memories since I joined this league. I’ll try to put things in chronological order if at all possible to help organize my own thoughts, so keep in mind, these are not in some order of best memory or anything. I’m sure there is tons I’m leaving out. I used to write some type of a reflection media each off season, so this will probably be somewhat similar to those!
Favorite Memory A: The Ultimate Fan Experience -ence -ence Media series created by @Fronk& @IceBear32
- A lot of these Came out probably around s30 -32 or so. Being a friend of Ice and Fronk in real life, these were some of the first media I ever actually clicked and read through in their entirety. If you haven’t had the chance to read them, definitely go back and find them. They were absolutely hilarious. They were written from the perspective of fans at various stadiums and what the overall experiences were. This media series they did is on my Mt. Rushmore of media pieces since I’ve joined the league and was a fun introduction to the league for me.
Favorite Memory B: My first time being scouted for ISFL
- I joined kinda late in the DSFL season and only got scouted by two teams. One of those being @IsaStarcrossed in Norfolk who eventually drafted me in like the 4th or 5th round. So needless to say I was pumped to actually be scouted by ISFL teams and experience that. Now that I am a General Manager and scouting on behalf of the Orange County Otters, I have come across former GMs in scouting who scouted me and it is super fun to read through some over those conversations. Everyone was so welcoming then and made things fun and I try to replicate that and provide a fun & positive experience now with any prospect – new or rc that I scout.
Favorite Memory C: Becoming a DSFL GM
- From the moment Ice told me about this league, I set a goal to eventually GM. When the OG team that drafted me, Norfolk, posted an opening for their co-GM job opposite of @negs, it was like too good to be true! The War room in Honolulu at the time helped me come up with a bunch of goofy hashtags for my candidacy. Negs ultimately chose me to be his co and I am super greatful for that still! We had a lot of fun together and were able to upset a powerhouse Minnesota team in the Ultimini using Smash 20 as our offensive strategy.
Favorite Memory D: The s36 Norfolk season
- Let me preface this with saying i loved every season in Norfolk. I learned so much during those seasons and really appreciate all the fun I was able to have. Season 36 was my first ever real exposure to a reddit class. There were 100+ prospects if I remember correctly and I definitely scouted more people that off season than ever before. Although some have now went IA, that group as a whole was a fun one who I think has had a lasting impact in the NOR Locker room and with me individually. We had our quarterback get called up super late – in the middle of this draft. So HO asked me to see if anyone would position switch. We luckily were able to get back in touch with Seal and he switched so we could avoid the nightmare of a GM bot QB. Shoutout to @infern8, g2019, @Gage2, @seal, @Bunny, @lordcoolcatsand all the others from that draft class specifically and obviously all the others as well (special shout out to @ImSatanJunior my co gm at the time and @Ephenssta for being so instrumental with helping and revitalizing the locker room!) who are still around to possibly see this. The rivalry with KCC that season was one for the DSFL ages and made things even more fun!
Favorite Memory D: @OrbitingDeath Making Sal Ami render Terrifyingly Brilliant
- This memory is pretty random but was a true highlight for me there for a while. My original player’s name was Sal Ami and played at Tight End. Tim Tebow around that time, made his triumphant return to Jacksonville’s training camp as a tight end. So I connected the dots and made him my render. After a handful+ of seasons, I had some regret about that after seeing so many funny renders. Russ being a potato, Stein was an ear of corn etc. So Icebear asked OD for help with making me a new render. And there born was one of the creepiest renders in my opinion of all time lol. Nightmare fuel but I thought I was hilarious and have always appreciated him making that for me. Picture is below!
Favorite Memory E: Becoming and ISFL GM in Orange County!
- When the opportunity came available for Orange County, I was apprehensive at first because I had literally only ever been in two locker rooms – Norfolk and Honolulu. After some words of encouragement from a couple league pals, I decided to message @slate, and the rest is history! He has been an awesome person to be a GM with and I absolutely love our locker room and team in Orange County. Our Counting channel is now at an all time high of 3366 if you didn’t know! The #HeckBeck and #BerateSlate era of the season past were things of beauty. I told Ice bear that my biggest contribution to the league so far has been becoming a meme! Lol. B
Favorite Memory F: Failed Recruiting @g2019
- The amount of time I have spent unsuccessfully legal tampering G has got to be an ISFL world record but I enjoy giving my good ISFL buddy a hard time with it nonetheless!
Favorite Memory G: The escape
- The final thing I will write about today is the perfect escape the ISFL has been and continues to be! Good days, bad days, or days somewhere in between, I think the ISFL provides a great escape to take the mind off of some of life’s stressors. Sometimes I think I probably spend too much time on here and think that if I had this level of effort and focus in real life I could probably be zillionaire somehow lol. But overall this community has been an amazing asset to my life and a much larger presence then I ever anticipated when I first signed up. I have greatly enjoyed my time here and am excited to keep on keepin on with things here for a long time.
Thanks for reading my media piece! I’m sure there are better memories and other things that will come to mind that I will probably write in a future reflection media piece down the road. It is super hard to believe that I have been a part of this community now for over 2 years in real life! It feels to me like it has been half of that at least. Thanks again for reading this and for everyone who contributes/ed to the fun and positive experiences I have had to this point in this league!
