The Philadelphia Liberty have signed WR Kendrick Hendrix to a 1 season, $1,000,000 contract.
The wide receiver has played his entire six season career thus far with the Colorado Yeti. He is currently 13th in the NSFL in career receiving yards with 4,321 yards. He was able to get those yards thanks to his 299 catches, 22 of which he converted to touchdowns.
He likely slots as a WR3 in Philadelphia behind starting wide outs Josh Garden and Fox North. Sources have stated that the Liberty will look to use Hendrix in the red zone after Josh Garden's 4th quarter end zone drop in the Ultimus Championship Game cost the Liberty their first Ultimus Championship.
Hendrix is coming off the worst season of his career where he caught just 18 passes for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those numbers will likely increase as he goes to a more pass reliant team. Another benefit for Hendrix will be the better play at the quarterback position. He should be able to get back to his old form within the new Liberty offense.
This move also likely signifies the end of Blessed Storm's career in Philadelphia, the once promising prospect will now be relegated to a WR4 role. The former second round pick was expected to be a cornerstone of this offense when drafted, however poor habits on and off the field have stunted his development. It will be interesting to see if Philadelphia keeps him, or shops him on the open market. And if he is shopped, if any other team will be willing to take a risk on a player that has burned so many bridges already.
