The dust has settled on yet another NSFL Draft and players are starting to fly into their respective cities to meet with their teams and staff. It was an eventful draft and one that had a ton of storylines. One of those storylines is the steal that the Philadelphia Liberty pulled off in the third round when they drafted KJ Becker who at the time of the draft had 247 TPE. Becker was portland pythons product and former University of California grad. Becker is coming off an impressive career with the Pythons as a linebacker with blitzing tendencies. We caught up with the often outspoken player about the draft, his outlook going forward and his team.
ESPN Reporter: KJ, thanks for taking the time to meet with us and talk football. We'll jump right into the questions. What was your reaction to getting drafted in the third round?
KJ Becker: It was nice to be drafted to a team I have no prior ties to. I think I'm going to like it in Philadelphia as its a city I've never played in and a place that has a long history of Football fanatics. The round din't really matter to me because in time I'll show I'm productive anyways. I think people put too much stock in where they're drafted as if it's supposed to inflate their ego or something.
ESPN Reporter: At one point one of the commentary panelists on the Fox Sports network said you were slipping because of "character concerns". Do you feel that's accurate?
KJ Becker: That came from nowhere though. It was a sole personal opinion from a panelist who was wrong all night long in his commentary. I've always got along with teammates and in fact have helped the league. However, that panelist wasn't really all that knowledgeable during the broadcast anyways.
ESPN Reporter: What can you bring to a lockerroom and a franchise moving forward?
KJ Becker: Well I have a Hall of Fame pedigree so I bring a will to do my absolute best in every aspect of training. I also have an ability to rise about the insults thrown at me unlike a lot of NSFL players. The problem is most people like to spread their little "he is a cancer" notion to other people. Whereas if someone is a piece of shit, I like to go to them directly and get to know them and base my own opinion off that. Communication kills some of the these leagues and i am all about that.
ESPN Reporter: Do you have any words for the league or other players in general?
KJ Becker: All I want to say is that they are in for a rude awakening when I blow up their plays in the backfield. Many guys said they had concerns about character but if you ask anyone that I've been in a lockerroom with, it's not character they question; it's activity. I think with my past player my activity speaks for itself. I think it would be a shame to see Mayran Jackson not make it into the Hall of Fame because some guys "opinions" about me. That would be a black spot on the leagues history. I'm here, I'm active and I'm a hell of a lot more vocal the more times people speak up about stuff they don't have a single clue about. I think many of the members in this league have never been a lockerroom and that's why everyone is so soft. Try not being so uptight about things and breathe a little.
ESPN Reporter: Thanks for the interview and we look forward to your first game!
KJ Becker: "CAN'T WAIT"
