Here is a mock draft and pick analysis for the Season 15 NSFL draft. I will probably follow this up with an article about what I got right and what I got wrong in my predictions.
#1 select LB Johnny Slothface
Arizona already drafted two solid linebackers in the season 14 draft in Leighton Lee and Gekyume Stokeley. I think they will finish off the linebacking core to bolster the defense. Slothface is at 245 TPE right now and that’s without all of the offseason claims that came out. He is the best player in this class and if I was given the chance I would take Slothface at #1. The GM of Arizona is also a fan of sloths and there has to be some sort of connection there.
#2 select WR Brock Landers
The Second Line need a second wide receiver to go along with Vladimir Fyodorovich, as their current second wide receiver already has significantly less TPE than Landers. Landers is on of the best earners in this class, as he’s already at 292 TPE heading into the draft. This would be a great pick for New Orleans as they get a plug and play starter to go along with who they get at pick #3.
#3 select CB Xerxes Ridley
The Second Line choose to draft off of need and go with the best cornerback available to them. While Emoji is a better player with more TPE, he is a GM so he has to be picked in the second round by his team. Xerxes Ridley is an active CB who again has more TPE than all of the Second Line starting corners. Ridley is a great writer and he’s going to have no shortage of money. While he’s not the best player on the board, Ridley fills a need and that’s why they pick him.
#4 select S Fatih Terim
At the time of my writing this, Terim has 249 applied TPE, with him having earned 267 total. This puts him squarely ahead of the second guy in this class, Walt Green. The Wraiths are going to need a new safety soon, with the only one with more TPE than Green being Cameron Taylor. Taylor is a great player but he’s going into his tenth season and regression is going to be hitting him hard soon. Terim is very active and by the time Taylor retires, he should be able to step right into role Taylor is currently filling. In this strong safety class, Terim is well ahead of the rest of the pack.
#5 AdamS expansion team select RB Morgan Marshall
Morgan Marshall is at 293 TPE and is way ahead of the rest of this RB class. He already has max speed for his build and is ready for the change of pace in the NSFL. The Austin Copperheads are supposedly not after a QB according to NSFL leaks, and that puzzles me because there is only one QB who is currently active in this class, Franklin Armstrong, and they are passing on taking their franchise guy . However I think just going after the highest TPE player that they can is a good call if they think they can get their quarterback later in this class or in another draft. But enough about quarterbacks, I think taking Marshall is a decent pick because a good RB can really help a team and Marshall has potential to be one of the league’s best at some point in his career. Marshall carried a lot of the weight for San Antonio's offense last season in the DSFL and I think that's what AdamS and the Copperheads are going to have him do again in season 16. If Morgan Marshall doesn’t go in the top 5 it will be a huge shock to me and I think marshal law will be instituted in Austin, Texas.
#6 Oles’ expansion team select QB Franklin Armstrong
I have no idea how to draft for an expansion team. QB is the most important position however and Armstrong is the best of the bunch. He has amassed 256 TPE and was a great player in the DSFL. His Pythons won a championship and if I was running an expansion team I would love to have an active player who is going to be a starting caliber QB by the time the expansion team starts to actually compete in season 16. I think this team is getting a steal in the back half of this draft.
#7 select S Richard D’attoria V
A second safety goes in the first round. He would be able to slot in and get playing time right away. You get a player who is active in updating and active on discord. He’s not the best safety in this class but he is a first round talent in my opinion. At the time of writing this he is already ahead of both Yeti safeties in TPE and he’ll be at around 300 by the end of the season if not earlier. I’m sure the Yeti wish they could take a QB here but this class isn’t strong outside of Armstrong, I could see them taking a guy like Lange later and letting him sit in the DSFL but they should go after a starter in the first round.
#8 select TE Chase Jensen
This was hard to pick, as the Otters are stacked at almost every position. TE is the worst on I saw in my 45 seconds of looking at their roster. Jensen would be in a position to get playing time right away and compete for an Ultimus. He would be the third tight end on the roster in terms of TPE but I’m guessing he’d be first by the end of the season. He also has GM experience as the co-GM of the Solar Bears, and in my totally unbiased opinion is a phenomenal GM. Orange County is getting a great player which they definitely need more of.
#9 select LB Quenton Bode
Bode is a high TPE linebacker, which Philly only has one of. Boosting the defense could be what they need to make the jump and win an Ultimus. Bode is still active and is a great earner. I believe that he will be a great linebacker as long as he remains active. He hasn’t posted on his update page since April 22nd but he could just be waiting for the new season. Bode posted on the forum yesterday and the day before so he hasn’t gone dead. Outside of the #1 guy in Slothface, Quenton is far ahead of the rest of the linebackers in this class, even Palm Beach Penetration as much as it pains me to say that.
#10 [b] select TE Cameron Olsen
Tight end is a position of weakness for the sabercats and Olsen has already doubled the current tight end on the Sabercat’s TPE. Olsen is very active on the forums. He’s well above Irving and Wright, the other top tight end candidates. The rest of the Sabercats mostly have high TPE players at every position except tight end so I think they use the first rounder on their position of biggest need.
Ok so it turns out that I wrote this whole article for nothing and the top 3 picks are RSJIII, Gimmy Jarropolo, and Ryan Leaf Jr. sorry for wasting your time.
