With 10 weeks to go, the playoff picture is already starting to take shape. Not surprisingly, some teams we thought would reign supreme are flourishing. While one team who had a strong preseason, are struggling to start off the season. There are 3 teams with a 3-1 record, the others are 1-3. The Colorado Yeti, Orange County Otters, and the Arizona Outlaws are showing that they are top dogs in the league and the Yellowknife Wraiths, San Jose SaberCats, And Baltimore Hawks are the bottom-dwellers of the league. Entering Week 5 where do each of these teams rank? That’s what I am here to do:
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Arizona Outlaws
3-1[/div]
When you have three teams with the same record how do you decide on who is the best? Simple, give it to the team that beat the competition. That’s why I have the Outlaws as the best team in the league right now. They handed the Orange County Otters their only loss of the season, beating them 27-12. Boasting the second biggest points for/points against margin in the NSFL, the Outlaws are proving why they are an early favorite to win the inaugural Ultimus Trophy.
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Orange County Otters
3-1[/div]
The Orange County Otters currently have a 3-1 record. After losing to the Outlaws by 2 touchdowns, the Otters are have been on a 3 game winning streak. With Josh Bervocici taking the reigns as the starting Quarterback, the Otters are only going to get stronger. Currently sitting with the highest PF/PA margin, the Otters are showing that they are a defensive powerhouse. Week 5 the Otters are playing the Yeti and this game will decide who remains at the top of the heap.
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Colorado Yeti
3-1[/div]
An early survey had the Yeti meeting the Otters in the Championship. After a bad preseason, many started to second guess if the Yeti could even make the playoffs. Looking prove everyone wrong the Yeti came out strong beating the Wraiths twice and the Hawks once. They rose to the top of the NSFL with a three-headed hydra-like run game and a stout defense. Suffering their first loss of the season to the Hawks this week, the Yeti are still the team to beat entering week 5.
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Baltimore Hawks
1-3[/div]
When the Baltimore Hawks went undefeated in the preseason, people were expecting to see more of the same in the regular season. The beginning of the season has not been kind to them though as they lost their first three. Going into Week 4, it was a must-win against cOnference kings, the Colorado Yeti. The Hawks thrived under pressure beating the Yeti 39-24. Having scored the most points in the NSFL, offense is obviously not the problem for the Hawks. Will the momentum of beating the Yeti and their offensive firepower be enough to be the team that everybody thought they would be?
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Yellowknife Wraiths
1-3[/div]
After a strong win in their season debut against the Sabercats, the Yellowknife Wraiths looked to contend for a playoff spot. This doesn’t appear to be the case because they are currently on a three-game losing streak. The scary statistic for the Sabercats is the record they hold in the conference. They are winless in terms of conference play. All hope is not lost because they have more points for than points against. Since there are 10 games left to play there is still time to make adjustments and make a run for a playoff spot.
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]San Jose Sabercats
1-3[/div]
With the current leader in the MVP race, Vick Bowers Jr., on their team, you would think the Sabercats would be contending for the top seed in the league. Unfortunately, that has not been the case as they are currently on a 2 game losing streak with a 1-2 record in the conferences. They also have a 55/77 points for/points against margin which is the worst in the league. Sporting a victory over the 3-1 Arizona Outlaws, the Sabercats have something to build on for the coming weeks. Hopefully, the outstanding play of Vick Bowers Jr. won’t go to waste because of a dumpster fire season.
