Okay, with the awards show right around the corner let’s look at some of the stats of the 20th NFSL season. As a rookie, I will not be able to give my opinion on special happenings during the last NFSL season but rather look at some interesting stat lines the best of the best put up over the last 13 regular-season games. I think it’s a great way to get to know all these players so I thought I might give it a try. Once again: this article will highly depend on stat lines and I am going to give my opinion based on these stat lines so please don’t be angry with me if I will not mention you or give an opinion you don’t share with me. With that being said, let’s look at the Awards.
Quarterback of the Year: Rose Jenkins (CHI) led the league in Touchdowns with 28 and 12 Interceptions. Easton Cole (AUS) finished with 27tds and 11ints and went on winning the Ultimus, after that Jay Cue (AZ) with 26tds and 9ints. Cue also has the best Quarterback-rating with a 91.5.
Yard leader if this NFSL is Rose Jenkins, leader of a strong Chicago passing offense with the only 4k+ Passing season (4275yds). The two highest completion percentages have Wolfy McDummy and Stan Francisco (NO) with 59.6% and 59.4%.
Honorable Mention: Franklin Armstrong (OCO) threw for 17tds on just 7 Ints and 3000yds and also had a 1000yards rushing season. Fun player to watch!
The best Quarterback of the 20th NSFL Season for me is Rose Jenkins (CHI). Admittedly this decision is not very easy since there were no significant standouts but Jenkins just delivered. His stats: 614Att, 4275yds, 56.5Pct, 28tds, 12Ints, 85.2Rtng.
If Cole had just a bit more yards under his belt this decision might have been different.
Runningback of the Year: The 20th NFSL season saw five players rushing for over 1000yards. One of them is, as I mentioned, a Quarterback. The other four players should be in strong consideration for this award. Sam Torenson (PHI) is the yardage leader with 1334 yards on the ground. The other three Players are Quindarius Tyerucker with 1283 yards (SJS), Mathias Hanyadi with 1100 yards(YKW) and Mako Mendonca with 1052 yards(AUS).
Hanyadi led the men in the backfield with 11Tds this season. Torensen and Tyerucker both had 8 and Medonca 7 touchdowns.
The best Runningback, in my opinion, was: Mathias Hanyadi not only putting up 11 rushing touchdowns but also leading the runningbacks in receiving touchdowns with 4 and 402 yards. He’s a true workhorse. Dude is a stud.
Receiver of the Year (yeah that’s every ball-catcher): The Tight End Irving (AZ) is our Receiving yards leader closely followed by Espeeyeeseetee (CHI). Both of them Sitting near 1440 yards this season. Espeeyeeseetee also tied the most touchdowns scored with Tidwell (AUS) with 12.
It’s a tough receiver class to evaluate because of the large group of elite skill position players. With ten players sitting at more than 1000 yards.
Very hard decision to make but Espeeyeeseetee earned this award this season with the most tied receiving touchdowns and sitting at the top of the rec yards column.
Fun Fact: The only receiver used in the rushing game this season was San Jose’s Footballer Blockerman with a single carry for 1 yard.
Defensive Player of the Year: Okay, hear me out. I know this is going to be unfair to throw every Defensive Player in one bucket but because of that I will not give this Award to anyone but I’ll mention a few of the key standout players.
Axel Hornbacher CB (COL) was all over the field. Leading the League in pass deflections (T22) while getting 5 Ints on his tape.
Dan Schneider S (CHI) did not also lead the league in tackles but also forced 3 turnovers paired with 5 sacks and also 5 TFLs.
Johnny Slothface LB (NO) recorded 11 Sacks, 86tackels and also 15 pass deflections.
Mo Berry LB (COL) had a very good year with 93 Tackles, 1 TFL and leading the league with 14 Sacks. What’s really great about his game is that he paired his sack production with 13 pass deflections.
Defensive ends Idlewyld (AUS) beasted it in the TFL department with 16 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. 12 Players had a double-digit TFL count this last season.
...And there are many more players on the defensive side of the ball. I want to apologize to all the great defensive players I don’t have the time to write about!
Offensive Liner of the Year goes to Guard Bot (SJS) simply for the fact that he was able to persuade his trainer to get 6 carries (for 4 yards). What a beast!
...please explain this one to me!
Punter of the Year: The POTY situation is really interesting. Based on punts downed inside the 20 two of the punters would clearly deserve the POTY title. Tied at the top of the list with 16 punts downed inside the 20 are Venus Powers (PHI) and Herbert Prohaska (NO). Powers put up an impressive amount of 4401yds while Prohaska sits at 3255yds. Alfredo Crisco (AUS) leads the league in Avg yards and 11 inside the 20. Based on the fact that he has 9 Punts less than Powers his Punting average is the best in the league.
I think it is very hard to give the POTY award to anyone else than Venus Powers. He was by far the most called up punter but the important thing: he delivered reliably. His Stat lines: 92Punts, 4401yds, 47.8Avg, 16Inside20, 71Long
Kicker of the Year: I’ll mainly focus on the field goals here to avoid too much Info. Alfredo Crisco (AUS), again, was elite in the Field Goal department. With 31 Field goals, he made the most field goals by far (with the second place being Dasistwirklichseinnachname with 25fgm). This is incredible enough but what if I tell you that’s also a percentage of 91.2?
The second-year Punter Herbert Prohaska (NO) finished with the highest Field Goal Percentage sitting at 95% on 19/20 made field goals. He pairs this with the 3rd highest extra point percentage. He was also perfect on 50+ yard field goals with a sample size of one field goal. He kicked a 52 through the uprights.
An honorable Mention: Crisco (AUS), Dasistwirklichseinnachname (OCO), Powers (PHI) and Prohaska (NO) all were perfect on field goals less than 40 yards!
I’ll give this one to Alfredo Crisco because of the strong number of 31 Made Field goals companied by good percentages.
His stat lines: 35/36XPM, 31/34FGM, 65long
These are my thoughts about the top players of the last season. I’m looking forward to playing all these great players in the future! I’m sorry I don’t have the time to write about every position or the experience in the league to give deeper information. I still hope that I was able to share some information. Let’s get hyped for the actual awards and good luck to all the players next season!
Feel free to leave your thoughts and knowledge in the comment section. I’m interested in hearing them.
