*After popular demand I have replaced yellow with gray, even though it doesn't fit in the rainbow *
I had previously decided not to do a mock draft, but most of the mocks came out before the expansion draft, so I wanted to explore what a needs-based draft would look like AFTER the expansion draft. Most drafts had Honolulu and Sarasota’s needs as “All” but both teams were able to get some good pieces in the expansion draft.
I attempted to determine the needs at each position for each team and give it a value. To do this, I factored in immediate need - whether a team can put a good product on the field (if any) - and future need - regression/retirement timetable, inactive players, low earners. Inadequacies in various aspects of “need” earned teams points. The more points, the more a team needs that position.
I also thought it prudent to group defensive line together as well as the defensive backs, because there is some ability to plug-and-play there. (Note - I did not simply add the CB and S values together for the DB value. It is calculated on it’s own. Same with DL.) Also, I did not assign a number system to quarterbacks and kickers since typically a team either needs one or doesn’t. There were a couple other tweaks I made to weigh the positions appropriately, but I won’t go into that.
Then - for your viewing pleasure (and my sanity) - I added colors! There were a lot of numbers, so it was hard to keep track. A 0 value - meaning a team has no need for that position - is purple. (I typically omitted these from the lists as they’re unnecessary for a “needs” article.). 1 is blue, 2 green, 3 gray, 4 orange, and 5 and above is red - the highest need. Hopefully that makes it a little easier to view. I updated the need ratings and colors after every pick.
The resources I used for this are the Team Budgets Sheet, my Updated Positional TPE Breakdown article, and some spreadsheets I made for each team’s roster and needs. Oh, and of course our handy dandy TPE Tracker
Alright, enough blabbing let’s go.
Here are each team’s needs. Remember - purple/blue good, red/orange bad.
Team Needs
Arizona Outlaws: DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']S - 3)[/span], RB - 3, TE - 3, OL - 3, DL - 2 ([span style=\\\'color:red\\\']DE - 6)[/span], LB - 1, WR - 1
Austin Copperheads: DB - 6 ([span style=\\\'color:orange\\\']CB - 4, S - 1)[/span], RB - 4, QB, K, WR - 2, OL - 2, DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DT - 2)[/span]
Baltimore Hawks: DB - 6 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']CB - 3, S - 2)[/span], DL - 5 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DT - 3, DE - 3)[/span], LB - 3, OL - 3, K, TE - 1
Chicago Butchers: DB - 9 (CB - 5, [span style=\\\'color:orange\\\']S - 4)[/span], QB, K, RB - 4, DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DT - 2)[/span], OL - 3, LB - 1, TE - 1
Colorado Yeti: DL - 5 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DE - 3, DT - 3)[/span], OL - 3, QB, DB - 2 ([span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']CB - 1, S - 1)[/span], LB - 2, WR - 2, RB - 1
Honolulu Hahalua: DB - 6 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']S - 3, CB - 2)[/span], QB, TE - 4, DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DE - 1)[/span], RB - 3, OL - 3, LB - 2, WR - 1
New Orleans Second Line: DL - 6 (DT - 5, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], QB, K, WR - 3, DB - 2 (CB - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], LB - 2
Orange County Otters: RB - 5, TE - 4, QB, K, LB - 2, WR - 2, DB - 1 (CB - 1, S - 1), DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DT - 3)[/span], OL - 1
Philadelphia Liberty: DL - 6 ([span style=\\\'color:orange\\\']DT - 4, DE - 3)[/span], DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']S - 2, CB - 1)[/span], TE - 4, LB - 1, OL - 1
San Jose SaberCats: DB - 5 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']S - 3, CB - 2)[/span], QB, DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, RB - 2, K, LB - 1, WR - 1, TE - 1
Sarasota Sailfish: LB - 6, DL - 5 (DT - 5, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], DB - 5 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']S - 3, CB - 2)[/span], RB - 3, OL - 3, TE - 2, K
Yellowknife Wraiths: DL - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DE - 3, DT - 3)[/span], OL - 3, DB - 2 (CB - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], TE - 2, LB - 1, RB - 1
Round One
1. Austin (via ) CB - Colt Mendoza
Everyone knows this is coming. Mendoza is a GM in training and is looking to be (maybe already is) the next big thing in the NSFL. Good thing for Austin, he also fills their biggest need at cornerback.
Updated AUS needs: DB - 4 ([span style=\\'color:green\\']CB - 2, S - 1)[/span], RB - 4, QB, K, WR - 2, OL - 2, DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DT - 2)[/span]
2. New Orleans (via ) DT - Magnus Rikiya
This is also no surprise. Defensive tackle is one of New Orleans’ big needs and Tesla is an amazing locker room presence and experienced sim-leaguer. Win-Win for the Second Line.
Updated NO needs: QB, K, DL - 4 ([span style=\\'color:gray\\']DT - 3, DE - 2)[/span], WR - 3, DB - 2 (CB - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], LB - 2
3. Philadelphia DT - Phat Boi
Phat Boi is too good to pass up at Number 3. Oles is good, but there are so many good cornerbacks and the Liberty only have two formidable defensive linemen. Phat Boi is an immediate plug-and-play option.
Updated PHI needs: DL - 4 (DE - 3, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']DT - 2)[/span], DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']S - 2, CB - 1)[/span], TE - 4, LB - 1, OL - 1
4. Arizona DE - Troen Egghands
Arizona can play this two ways. They have the 15th AND 16th pick in the second round, so they can take their defensive end here and grab the second or third safety next round, or vice versa. I think it’s a little safer to go end first because the safety class is a touch deeper.
Updated ARI needs: DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']S - 3)[/span], RB - 3, TE - 3, OL - 3, DL - 1 ([span style=\\'color:gray\\']DE - 3)[/span], LB - 1, WR - 1
5. San Jose S - Johnny Hellzapoppin
This could definitely be a cornerback here, but with grabbing HeHateMe last season, they grab a top safety (even though I’d love to see HeHateMe and Zamir on the same team). Hellzapoppin gets the nod with his league involvement pushing him up above Cross.
Updated SJS needs: DB - 4 ([span style=\\'color:green\\']S - 2, CB - 2)[/span], QB, DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, RB - 2, K, LB - 1, WR - 1, TE - 1
6. Philadelphia (via ) TE - Jeffrey Phillips
Ok, I know this is going out on a limb. But the Liberty are a tight end away from a complete offense so this could definitely be worth it. After taking Phat Boi, they don’t have many gaping holes on defense, at least none that can’t be filled in the later rounds in a draft like this. Phillips is by far the top TE and will be an immediate impact.
Updated PHI needs: DL - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DE - 3, DT - 2)[/span], DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']S - 2, CB - 1)[/span], LB - 1, TE - 1, OL - 1
7. Honolulu (via ) S - Matt “Son of Havoc” Cross
Cross is the highest earning safety in the class and will fill the biggest need in the Hahalua defense. Honolulu will need a QB, but there’s no need to grab one now.
Updated HON needs: QB, DB - 4 (CB - 2, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']S - 1)[/span], TE - 4, DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DE - 1)[/span], RB - 3, OL - 3, LB - 2, WR - 1
8. Colorado DT - Octavio Clemente
This was a tough one to pick. I know Thubba Bumper seems an obvious choice, but the Yeti DO NOT need a cornerback in the first round. Especially with only one off the board so far. They need equal amounts of help at DT and DE, so I picked Clemente, although it could easily be Cho or Ryeu here.
Updated COL needs: DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, QB, DB - 2 ([span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']CB - 1, S - 1)[/span], LB - 2, WR - 2, RB - 1
9. Baltimore CB - Tyler Oles, Jr.
Here goes Oles finally. A gift at #9 to Baltimore. The Hawks need help all over their defense but mostly at corner, so they’ll be taking one here.
Updated BAL needs: DL - 5 ([span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 3, DE - 3)[/span], DB - 4 (S - 2, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 1)[/span], LB - 3, OL - 3, K, TE - 1
10. Orange County RB - White Goodman
This was an easy one to pick. The Otters have one giant weak spot in their offense at running back so they take the best person available to fill it. A veteran of the league, Gucci will be exactly what they need.
Updated OCO needs: TE - 4, QB, RB - 3, K, LB - 2, WR - 2, DB - 1 (CB - 1, S - 1), DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DT - 3)[/span], OL - 1
11. Yellowknife DE - Sandro Ryeu
The Wraiths take the fifth defensive lineman of the round. Ryeu was a beast in the DSFL and a max earner, so there’s no reason not to expect the same level of production at the next level.
Updated YKW needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']DE - 2)[/span], OL - 3, DB - 2 (CB - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], TE - 2, LB - 1, RB - 1
12. New Orleans QB - Ben Slothlisberger
New Orleans is pretty bad at keeping their draft picks a secret. Not like anyone could do anything about it though. The Second Line get their QB of the future and fill their second biggest need.
Updated NO needs: K, DL - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DT - 3, DE - 2)[/span], WR - 3, DB - 2 (CB - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], LB - 2, QB
Round Two
13. Honolulu CB - Brandon Booker
Booker is all that’s new and exciting in the NSFL. He’s extremely active, positive, and loyal. After going more for defensive line in the expansion draft, the Hahalua finish getting the future of their secondary.
Updated HON needs: QB, TE - 4, DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DE - 1)[/span], RB - 3, OL - 3, LB - 2, WR - 1, DB - 1 (S - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 0)[/span]
14. Sarasota LB - Stanislaw Koniecpolski
By the sheer miracle that most other teams don’t need linebackers that badly, Sarasota is able to land an absolute baller at the 14th pick. Stan is top 3 pick value, but in a draft like this there are going to be plenty of later round steals. The Sailfish get the first one.
Updated SAR needs: DL - 5 (DT - 5, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], DB - 5 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']S - 3, CB - 2)[/span], LB - 3, RB - 3, OL - 3, TE - 2, K
15. Arizona (via ) S - Buck Thornton
Arizona successfully executes their plan of lineman in the first, then one of the top three safeties in the second. If they decide to do it the other way around, look for Hellzapoppin in the first, and Cho or Ryeu here.
Updated ARI needs: RB - 3, TE - 3, OL - 3, DB - 2 ([span style=\\'color:blue\\']S - 1)[/span], DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DE - 3)[/span], LB - 1, WR - 1
16. Arizona RB - Acura Skyline
With the defense shored up a bit, the Outlaws grab a running partner for Baby Yoda. Skyline had a great year in the DSFL and is max earning.
Updated ARI needs: TE - 3, OL - 3, DB - 2 ([span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DE - 3)[/span], LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 1
17. San Jose QB - Monty Jack (GM)
Obligatory GM pick. The SaberCats needed a QB.
Updated SJS needs: DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']S - 2, CB - 2)[/span], DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, RB - 2, K, LB - 1, WR - 1, TE - 1, QB
18. Philadelphia (via ) DE - James Cho
Defensive End is the Liberty’s biggest need and there is only one top-tier end remaining, so they grab Cho.
Updated PHI needs: DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']S - 2, CB - 1)[/span], DL - 2 (DT - 2, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']DE - 1)[/span], LB - 1, TE - 1, OL - 1
19. Austin RB - Kichwa Jones
The long wait since pick 1 has ended! While the Copperheads could still use more help at corner, they grab Jones after Arizona grabs Skyline. Jones will pair nicely with Mendonca and Austin needs a second back.
Updated AUS needs: DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']CB - 2, S - 1)[/span], QB, K, WR - 2, OL - 2, DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DT - 2)[/span], RB - 1
20. Colorado LB - Derred de Ville
Look! Thubba Bumper is still there! Don’t take him. You can’t pass on de Ville this late, especially with the Otters lurking two picks behind you and your entire LB core heading into regression. The run on CB’s hasn’t started….yet.
Updated COL needs: DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, QB, DB - 2 ([span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']CB - 1, S - 1)[/span], WR - 2, LB - 1, RB - 1
21. Chicago (via ) LB - Benson Bayley, Jr. (GM)
The Butchers finally get to pick. Unfortunately, linebacker isn’t one of their big needs, nor is defensive end. In my VERY humble opinion, the Butchers need to try to do something to get some higher picks, or else face irrelevancy for the foreseeable future. You can’t be sitting out on this draft.
Updated CHI needs: DB - 9 (CB - 5, [span style=\\\'color:orange\\\']S - 4)[/span], QB, K, RB - 4, DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DT - 2)[/span], OL - 3, TE - 1, LB - 0
22. Orange County TE - Heath Evans
The Otters fill their other offensive hole here. There is only one more elite tight end on the board, so it’s now or never. Feeler is very active and will be a good addition to the powerhouse of the NSFL.
Updated OCO needs: QB, RB - 3, K, LB - 2, WR - 2, DB - 1 (CB - 1, S - 1), DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DT - 3)[/span], TE - 1, OL - 1
23. Yellowknife QB - Colby Jack (GM)
QB of the future.
Updated YKW needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], OL - 3, DB - 2 (CB - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], TE - 2, LB - 1, RB - 1, QB
24. New Orleans DT - Deshun Jones
Two picks in the first round and one in the second for the defending champs, and they’re making the most of it, taking another piece to help fill the massive shoes of Bjorn Ironside. Jones and Rikiya will be one of the toughest fronts in the NSFL.
Updated NO needs: K, WR - 3, DB - 2 (CB - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1)[/span], LB - 2, DL - 1 (DE - 2, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']DT - 0)[/span]
Round Three
25. Honolulu RB - Tatsu Nakamura
Honolulu could go a lot of different ways with this pick. Their biggest needs are QB, TE, and DT, but there’s been a little run on running backs and the Hahalua want to make sure they have a good one. They also have the 7th pick this round to grab another piece.
Updated HON needs: QB, TE - 4, DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DE - 1)[/span], OL - 3, LB - 2, WR - 1, DB - 1 (S - 1), RB - 1
26. Sarasota DT - Mo “Mamba” Magic
There are higher overall players on the big board, but there has been a run on linemen early, and the Sailfish desperately need a tackle. Along with that, Mamba is an incredible locker room presence and exactly the type of person an expansion team will be looking to build an environment around.
Updated SAR needs: DB - 5 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']S - 3, CB - 2)[/span], DL - 3 (DT - 3, DE - 2), LB - 3, RB - 3, OL - 3, TE - 2, K
27. Baltimore (via ) DE - Patrik Money
Baltimore also needs help on their defensive line, and there simply aren’t many good ones left. PMoney is a very active user and will be a solid earner for the Hawks.
Updated BAL needs: DB - 4 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']S - 2, CB - 1)[/span], DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']DE - 2)[/span], LB - 3, OL - 3, K, TE - 1
28. Arizona CB - Zamir Kehla
The Outlaws have some minor needs, but at this point it’s basically best available. Kehla has a big mouth but he backs it up on the field and is a great locker room presence. If Arizona has a problem with that, expect Chester Sweets to go here.
Updated ARI needs: TE - 3, OL - 3, DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DE - 3)[/span], LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 1, DB - 0 (S - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 0)[/span]
29. San Jose CB - Chester Sweets
Sweets has been on fire since joining the league, regularly churning out media and podcasts. He’ll be a great locker room presence and a good counterpart to HeHateMe.
Updated SJS needs: DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, DB - 2 (S - 2, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 1)[/span], RB - 2, K, LB - 1, WR - 1, TE - 1
30. Philadelphia (via ) S - Quinn Hughes
Isidore has been very active on the forum and putting himself out there. Philly has some badass safeties, but they’re entering regression, so they grab Hughes to be the guy of the future.
Updated PHI needs: DL - 2 (DT - 2, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DE - 1)[/span], DB - 2 ([span style=\\'color:blue\\']S - 1, CB - 1)[/span], LB - 1, TE - 1, OL - 1
31. Honolulu (via ) DT - Big Edd
There’s only one top-tier defensive tackle left, and the Hahalua make sure to grab him. Edd is definitely a personality, and although he mentioned position switching, it may be a ruse.
Updated HON needs: QB, TE - 4, OL - 3, LB - 2, DL - 1 (DT - 1, DE - 1), DB - 1 (S - 1), WR - 1, RB - 1
32. Colorado CB - Thubba Bumper
Okay, now you can take him. I know you want to.
Updated COL needs: DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, QB, WR - 2, DB - 1 (S - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 0)[/span], LB - 1, RB - 1
33. Baltimore S - Wesley Eriksen
Lightnoir has been making a name for himself on the forum and with the awards committee. The Hawks want to jump on that while they still can, and grab Wes to take over for their pair of S15 safeties.
Updated BAL needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], LB - 3, OL - 3, K, DB - 2 ([span style=\\'color:blue\\']S - 1, CB - 1)[/span], TE - 1
34. Orange County WR - Eddie Jeeta
The Otters always like finding new toys for their star quarterback, especially after losing Banks in the expansion draft.
Updated OCO needs: QB, RB - 3, K, LB - 2, DB - 1 (CB - 1, S - 1), DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DT - 3)[/span], TE - 1, OL - 1, WR - 0
35. Yellowknife CB - Eldrick Avery
Best available here. Avery is a steal in the late third round.
Updated YKW needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], OL - 3, TE - 2, DB - 1 (S - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 0)[/span], LB - 1, RB - 1
36. Sarasota (via ) S - Eric Barlow
The Sailfish could go either corner or safety here. I see a slightly bigger need at safety so the very active Thiath occupies the last pick of the third round.
Updated SAR needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], DB - 3 (CB - 2, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']S - 1)[/span], LB - 3, RB - 3, OL - 3, TE - 2, K
Round Four
37. Honolulu LB - Lawrence Bass
Still waiting on quarterback, the Hahalua further secure their defense of the future, selecting the very active LB.
Updated HON needs: QB, TE - 4, OL - 3, DL - 1 (DT - 1, DE - 1), DB - 1 (S - 1), WR - 1, RB - 1, LB - 0
38. Sarasota CB - Andrew Witten
Witten is one of the top players on the board and is very active in the form and on discord.
Updated SAR needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], LB - 3, RB - 3, OL - 3, TE - 2, K, DB - 1 (S - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 0)[/span]
39. Arizona (via ) DE - Slinky Claxton
The Outlaws have two picks this round and three in the fifth, so they can do pretty much whatever they want. I think they nab the last top-end defensive end here at #39.
Updated ARI needs: TE - 3, OL - 3, LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 1, S - 1, DL - 0 ([span style=\\'color:blue\\']DE - 1)[/span]
40. Arizona OL - Byron Dolls
The Outlaws have set themselves up well on defense. Now they have the luxury of being able to select the top offensive lineman in the class.
Updated ARI needs: TE - 3, LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 1, S - 1, DE - 1, OL - 1
41. San Jose S - Shawn Dawkins
Even with two defensive back selections already, the SaberCats still need more help in the secondary. Dawkins is a max earner and will provide them some much needed depth.
Updated SJS needs: DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, RB - 2, K, DB - 1 (CB - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']S - 0)[/span], LB - 1, WR - 1, TE - 1
42. Austin (via ) CB - Cadillac Harris
tractorcito_grande has been a media machine since joining the league. Austin fills out their cornerback corps with Harris.
Updated AUS needs: QB, K, WR - 2, OL - 2, DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DT - 2)[/span], DB - 1 (S - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 0)[/span], RB - 1
43. Austin WR - William Lim
The Copperheads take the highest TPE player left on the board, who also fills a need.
Updated AUS needs: QB, K, OL - 2, DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DT - 2)[/span], DB - 1 (S - 1), RB - 1, WR - 0
44. Colorado WR - Michael Witheblock
Same reasoning as the previous pick, top TPE player that fills a need.
Updated COL needs: DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, QB, DB - 1 (S - 1), LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 0
45. Baltimore LB - Haha Mango-Panda
The Hawks get an absolute steal here, as linebackers have not been in much need. Mango will be a solid piece for the Hawks’ defense that needs some improvement.
Updated BAL needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], OL - 3, K, DB - 2 ([span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']S - 1, CB - 1)[/span], LB - 2, TE - 1
46. Orange County LB - Fawn Dillmiballs
He was too good to fall to #69.
Updated OCO needs: QB, RB - 3, K, DB - 1 (CB - 1, S - 1), DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:gray\\\']DT - 3)[/span], LB - 1, TE - 1, OL - 1
47. Yellowknife OL - Bruce Buckley
With all the top end defensive line talent gone, the Wraiths look to the other side of the trenches for an elite offensive lineman.
Updated YKW needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], TE - 2, DB - 1 (S - 1), LB - 1, RB - 1, OL - 1
48. New Orleans CB - Ben Stackinpaper
The Second Line could justify taking a wide receiver here, but Stackinpaper is the last of the top-end cornerbacks, and in a class like this you need to make sure you grab one.
Updated NO needs: K, WR - 3, LB - 2, DL - 1 ([span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], DB - 1 (S - 1, [span style=\\'font-size:11pt;line-height:100%\\']CB - 0)[/span]
Round Five
49. Honolulu QB - Jim Waters
I think it’s worth taking a shot on siddhus here. Chicago will start picking soon and they desperately need a quarterback. Siddus is popular amongst the S22 class (from what I can tell) and should be a good addition for the expansion team.
Updated HON needs: TE - 4, OL - 3, DL - 1 (DT - 1, DE - 1), DB - 1 (S - 1), WR - 1, RB - 1, QB
50. Sarasota LB - George “Corpse Grinder” Fisher
Fisher is the last of the top-end linebackers. Sarasota will pair him with Stan for a beast of a front seven.
Updated SAR needs: DL - 3 (DT - 3, [span style=\\\'color:green\\\']DE - 2)[/span], RB - 3, OL - 3, TE - 2, K, DB - 1 (S - 1), LB - 1
51. Arizona (via ) OL - Calvin Golladay
Arizona is so set they can just grab the top players. Their only need left is tight end, but they have two more picks this round to get one, or even wait until the 6th.
Updated ARI needs: TE - 3, LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 1, S - 1, DE - 1, OL - 0
52. Arizona TE - Daniel George
There’s a bit of a dropoff after George and Angler, so Arizona makes sure to get their tight end here.
Updated ARI needs: S - 1, DE - 1, LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 1, TE - 1
53. San Jose RB - Jamar Lackson
The SaberCats are in need of a top-flight running back. BenDover is active and is a steady earner that can fill that void.
Updated SJS needs: DL - 3 (DE - 3, [span style=\\\'color:blue\\\']DT - 1)[/span], OL - 3, K, DB - 1 (CB - 1), LB - 1, RB - 1, WR - 1, TE - 1
54. Arizona (via ) WR - Susan Cash, Jr.
This pick could be anything. I went with wide receiver because the Outlaws want to build around Jay Cue.
Updated ARI needs: S - 1, DE - 1, LB - 1, RB - 1, TE - 1, WR - 0
