Tomage McGullager has moved from the offensive tight end position to the defensive corner back position. This move happened almost immediately after Tomage McGullager was selected by the Dallas Birddogs with the second pick in the third round of the Developmental Sim Football League draft. When asked for a comment this is all Tomage McGullager had to say.
"When they were scouting me, Dallas asked me if I would be open to changing positions and going to the defense. I looked at them and thought they were crazy. I asked 'Did you not see me break just about every single NCAA football record I could possibly break?' and then they responded by saying, 'Yes, you may be the best tight end to ever play football anywhere ever, and leading a school that didn't have a football team only 3 years ago to the national championship, especially as a tight end, that show just how incredible of an offensive weapon you are, but at the end of the day, defense wins championships. And if we were to get the best football player to ever play football in the history of all of football, then we would want that player to be playing in the most important position in all of football, a defensive back.' And there it was, the single most important fact that I had forgotten when I became a tight end all those years ago. Defense wins championships. I selected a tight end so I could be pivotal in blocking for the run game and catching for the passing game. Passing of course was always more important to me since you need to get down the field with the ball to score and I could only assure so much would happen if the team ran the ball and put the ball in someone else's hands. But that was when I was young and naive and thought the offense is what won championships. After all, it is the quarterback who lifts the trophy and gets the fame. But my eyes have since then been opened and now I see that the defensive backs are really the ones who run the game. Even the worst teams will can score sometimes, so having defense that will keep even the best offenses down will allow us to win no matter how many or how few points our offense scored. Make no mistake though, even though I am learning a new position this season, the prophecy will still hold true. Tomage McGullager will hoist the trophy with the rest of his Dallas Birddogs teammates at the end of this season!
