Welcome everyone, to the Minnesota Grey Duck rookie spotlight. I'm your CB Matt Krause and all this week I'll be sitting down with the Rookies from my Minnesota Grey Ducks. Talking draft, football, life and everything in between. My first guess this week is the one and only Tychondrius (Ty) Hood!
Let me give you a little background to Mr. Hood. Ty was a wavier pickup, that we wound up drafting 22OA in the 3rd round of S22 DSFL draft. Ty game in and immediately made his stamp in the locker room and has backed it up on and off the field. So far this season he's torched defenses for 769yds on a avg of 15.4yds a catch while totalling 4TDs. Now let me bring him in.
Ty, welcome my man how have you been since I last saw you Tuesday?
Hey! I’ve been great, had a great couple of games Tuesday and feeling pumped about the teams chances for the playoffs. Having a great time with my boys here in Minnesota! By the way, I wasn’t a waiver, everyone thinks I was, but I was just hanging out in the locker room a lot before the draft a lot. I didn’t actually make my player until after the Ultimus. No worries though, one of our GMs who will remain unnamed thought I was a waiver as well haha!
O shit that's right. I forgot about that. So happy to have you as my first guest this week. So you came into the locker room a bit early, But once drafted you've had a big impact on our team. How you feel your rookie season has gone so far? On and off the field?
I was in the locker room very early during the offseason. This was one of the teams I heavily was gravitating towards, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and leadership in the locker room. Mario Von Pebbles was one of the people who really inspired me to want to become a Grey Duck, and when I was drafted was excited as h*ck to be a part of the team. I think my rookie season has been a blessing so far, being second in the DSFL in receiving yards as of this article, and pulling in four touchdowns on the year! I have great teammates in the wide receiver room, so I feel blessed to have the productions I’ve had this season considering the talent around me in Kai Sakura and Daymond Brooks. Off the field I feel like I’m being really productive and learning a lot. Taking a league job and being accepted as an intern has help in this regard, and I feel happy to be able to contribute.
Well I know that even as a rookie. You've gave me some great battles in practice and had a hand in helping me develop even more this year. Now I know just like out of high school your being highly recruited. Yet this time you don't make the decision. How are you handling the recruitment process? Any destinations standing out to you?
You have been a thorn in my side in practice, and I don’t relish the thought of going up against you in the NSFL some day! I’ve really enjoyed the entire scouting process so far, and if the NSFL is anywhere close to as fun and exciting as the DSFL draft was for me, it will be a blast. I’ve had about half a dozen interviews with scouts so far, and I feel as though I’ve done a pretty good job in terms of making myself a valuable prospect. I really hope these NSFL scout can see how much I love this league, and how competitive and fired up I am to be a solid player during my career. If I had to guess, there are probably 3 or 4 top teams I think may take a mid-draft flyer on me, considering the depth and lack of need at wide receiver in the league. I really enjoyed my interview with the Wraiths, and feel they may take a chance on me. Gaines is getting older quickly, and I feel Austin may potentially feel they need to replace him, I also enjoyed my interview with the Copperhead scout. The Yeti are also on my radar, as they might need a wideout soon, and I really enjoy the people in the Yeti locker room. Another team is Honolulu, not because I think they want me, but I just love Dwyer. He’s awesome.
Dwyer definitely makes Honolulu a choice destination. Now piggy backing off of the recruitment talk. The draft is fast approaching, how are you feeling about it? Any expectations? I know I think you're going high. But it's always a toss up. So, where do you see yourself possibly going?
I think I’m probably the third or fourth best wide receiver in my class. People say I’m being humble, but Kai Sakura is the best receiver in our class, TPE-wise, and makes great media, and works very hard to be active from the other side of the world. Then you have veteran users in enigmatic and Valor with their players Videl and Scabbia that are both a known quantity of consistent earnings. While I feel that I’ll be a max earner for the indefinite future, I am also a brand new player, and an unknown. I don’t think teams will want to risk an early round pick on me with all of those things considered. I hope to go by the mid to late 3rd round, or perhaps in the early 4th round. Other than that it’s hard to tell, I’ve had one GM tell me they were considering me in the first round, and I’ve seen mocks with me in the mid fourth, so I really have no idea. It’s exciting to think about and speculate though, and no matter where I go, I’ll put my all into my new team, and do whatever is asked of me to help be part of a great locker room.
I think you should be the first or second wideout off the board, but I'm a little bias with our wideouts. But the team that does draft you, is getting one helluva player. Now, our team, we've got tons of veteran presence. The best GMs in the business, the best LR. How do you rate our season? Did you meet or miss any personal goals for yourself? And how do you feel we as a team had a impact on you your rookie year?
Our team is amazing on and off the field. Offensively we have two of the best veterans in the entire DSFL in Sim Snowbow and Jamar Lackson. I’m blessed to be able to learn from veteran wide receiver Daymond Brooks as well. All three of these guys have been amazing for us, and will be stars for their teams in the future. Defensively we have the best group of veterans in the league. I have no idea how our GMs are going to be able to replace you guys. Guys like Dex Kennedy, Tyron Shields, Mario Von Pebbles, and yourself have produced the strongest defensive unit in the league by far. Having all of these players around me has made me a much better player, and inspired me to be more involved in the league. The only personal goal I have is 800 yards, and I’m 31 yards away. The only other goal I have is to win an Ultimini, and we are well on our way to achieving that!
We definitely are the new legion of boom. And that's a fantastic personal goal and I have a feeling you will be closer to 1k than 800 when it's all said and done. Lets brag about our guys for a minute. You mentioned Mario, Daymond, Jamar, Snow, Myself and others have had a huge impact for you. Do you feel that if you had landed anywhere else besides Minnesota you would be where you are now?
You know, I might have the best veterans in the league on my team, but there are a lot of great players, veterans, and GMs around the DSFL. Even if I wasn’t on the Grey Ducks and a part of the best Locker Room in the league, I’m sure I would still love whatever team I was on, and I’m sure they have great leaders on those teams. That being said, our guys are the best guys, and have definitely molded me into the player I am today!
Alright alright enough about our boys, (love you men). Now I'm not gonna keep you much longer. But I like to let my guest have the last word. All the GMs are paying attention. Is there anything you want to say to all the GMs, coaches, staff, players, fans whoever!? Let them hear it!
Hi everyone, I am Ty, and I’m here to win championships and chew gum, and I’m all out of gum. I may not be the most established player in the league, but I can guarantee that I’m one of the most excited and enthusiastic. If you want an active, high earning player, who will rep his team until the end of time, I’m the fellow you’re looking for. Whether it be on the field or in the locker room or even in the sim room, I’ll do whatever it takes to help get my team to the next level. Thanks a lot for the interview Mr. Krause, you’ve been such a great leader for me this season and it has been an honor.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for stopping by and reading my wonderful sit down with none other than Mr. Ty Hood. It was such a pleasure to sit with him. Stay tuned tomorrow for my sit down with our other rookie WR Kai Sakura!
