Buffalo’s starting strong safety Ruhu Rush has decided to forego his senior season and declare for the DSFL draft per his agent. This past week Buffalo’s star safety made public his intent to enter the DSFL for the upcoming season. In a statement released via his agent, Rush thanked his coaches, trainers, and teammates for all the success and growth in the past three years at Buffalo. A relatively unknown recruit out of the high school, the talented Rush made a name for himself the last three years culminating in a 8-5 record and Bahama Bowl win this past season. Rush has established himself as arguably the most talented defensive back in the MAC conference this past season with a reputation for hard hitting and run stuffing play.
While some scouts have voiced concerns due to the small school environment Rush has made his name at, it is hard to deny his athleticism and playmaking abilities. Standing at 6’2 and 220 lbs, the physically imposing safety is poised to make a splash at the next level. It remains to be seen whether his skillset will transition to the next level, but for those that have seen his tape it is hard to deny the hype. A true box safety, his ability to read plays, stop the run, and make runner’s earn their yards should have defensive coordinators eager to work with big 33 at the next level.
Rush will continue to train and work out in the Buffalo area as he prepares for his transition to the next level. With the DSFL draft rapidly approaching many local fans are excited to see which team will be calling his name. Whether he will be heading across the pond to London or south of the border to Tijuana, all teams can be sure they will be receiving one of the hardest working safeties in college football.
