As a lifelong football fan and an appreciative supporter of 'Hand-Egg' for the best part of 15 years, I thought, for my first written piece, it would be pertinent to compare my two favourite sports in the simplest way possible. Stack the teams up against each other and decide how they compare. Whether you know nothing about the English Premier League or not, hopefully these comparisons will give you a modest idea and maybe even lead you to supporting a team yourself.
In future I would like to do the same thing with the teams in the ISFL, although having only joined yesterday, writing that piece with any credibility would be a stretch. Let me know if you would like to see something like that in future. For now, enjoy.
Liverpool - Kansas City Chiefs Both teams are on top of their sports right now, posing the best attacking talents seen in a long time that could slowly revolutionise the game. Currently on cloud 9 with no intentions of jumping off.
Manchester City - New England Patriots Everyone hates them because they are so good. Pep Belichik and Bill Guardiola are geniuses, if a little strange, and they will threaten to steal glory every season, probably for years to come.
Manchester United - Dallas Cowboys Recent poor board decisions and even worse coaching has rendered these teams to mediocrity, a mile away from where {insert country name} team should be. Both have history in swathes.
Chelsea - Pittsburgh Steelers Two of the most succesful teams in their respective leagues in recent memory, both are always there or thereabouts come the business end of the season. On a sidenote: Both are hated by yours truly.
Leicester - Philidelphia Eagles Both pereniiel dark horses who fight tooth and nail for success, especially since tasting it during unlikely championship runs recently.
Tottenham Hotspur - Minnesota Vikings Tortured by a continual stream of bottlejobbing. If you don't know what that is, Urban Dictionary it.
Wolverhampton Wanderers - Cleveland Browns Deprived of any form of success for so long, and both sporting a similar colourscheme that acts as marmite around the league (well, if they weere at all relevant) Wolves and the Browns have acquired some young talent recently and are actually showing signs of life.
Arsenal - Chicago Bears Two good teams that should probably do better than they have in recent memory, probably due to the lack of strong leadership. I'm looking at you Trubisky.
Sheffield United - Miami Dolphins The main thing holding this fairly flimsy comparison together is the fact that they both began the season with zero expectations. Now that the seaon's have been played, one team took that lack of pressure and thrived, the other...is Miami.
Burnley - Baltimore Ravens Northern teams who like to keep it rough but are also very potent in attack. The Ravens have been more succesful, but the playing style and location is what glues these two together.
Southampton - New Orleans Saints Both are moderately succesful after periods sat in the doldrums looking up at the big boys, and yes, the obvious one...both teams are called 'The Saints!'
Everton - Houston Texans Usually outshone by more illustrious neighbours, these teams often promise alot, then proceed to whimper to a good, but not great finish.
Newcastle United - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fairly despicable owners looking to cash grab rather than see the team do well and coaches brought in to improve things after years of utter garbage.
Crystal Palace - Las Vegas Raiders Both have coaches that are long in the tooth and have 'interesting' methods to say the least. Usually in the media for the wrong reasons.
Brighton - Arizona Cardinals Both youg, exciting teams with what looks to be a bright future (no pun intended). Let by young atttacking threats, ironically both with the surname's 'Murray'.
West Ham - New York Jets Both from a big city, both in the shadow of another, better team from that big city. Apparently these teams have developed a way of playing that is unique to them, although it seems to me to be that thery both like to lose.
Aston Villa - Cincinatti Bengals They just aren't very good. Have had some good seaons in the past under long-time coaches, but those days seem all but gone. Supporting eityher of these two must be a depressing thing indeed.
Bournemouth - Los Angeles Chargers They both have small(ish) stadiums, and they both live by the sea. That's all I got!
Watford - Atlanta Falcons Both of these teams are recovering from bad losses in recent finals, and when I say recovering, i mean they are stinking the bed up.
Norwich - Green Bay Packers One of these teams is vastly more succesful than the other yet surpsingly run in a way that an equal percentage of the comminuty question. Also, who doesn't love a bit of yellow and green?!
