How’s it going folks, DoIHaveTheSause here, and the regular season is soon coming to an end. We have the playoffs right around the corner. We know who’s making it to the playoffs for the most part, but the question that everyone is asking is: Who is this year’s DSFL MVP?? Below I have a breakdown of players I believe have earned this prestigious award (In no particular order), along with their stats and a description of why I think their play has allowed them to be a part of the conversation. Now let’s get to the action!
S. Howitzer - QB - Portland Pythons
Comp Att Yards Pct Lg TD Int Rating
270 434 2559 62.2 38 21 6 88.9
Let us start off with the starting signal-caller for the Portland Pythons, Howitzer is on fire this year, leading the league with the best QB rating, 2nd in: pass percentage completion and touchdowns, and 3rd in yards. Howitzer shows all the signs of being the most valuable player in the league, keeping the stats high with the best in the league, and keeping the mistakes at a low especially from the most important position on the offensive side. The Portland Pythons are currently 2nd in their division, (currently tied with the Kansas City Coyotes) but as long as Howitzer keeps playing like this, he has a chance to not only be considered the most valuable player but gives his team a shot at the Ultimini.
A. Schell - LB - Tijuana Luchadores
Tck TFL FF/FR Sck Int PD Sfty TD Blk P/XP/FG
118 5 3/2 8 0 8 0 0 0/0/0
Now who says a Defensive player can’t win MVP?? Here we have A. Schell, the formidable linebacker for the Tijuana Luchadores, officially the best team in the DFSL. A Schell brings himself into the conversation by not only wreaking havoc against offense's backfields (3rd in Sacks), but by leading the league in tackles. Top football experts would say that next to having a great QB, having a great Linebacker is up there. Schell’s big play-making ability gives his team hyped off the momentum he creates. The luchadores defense should be excited to have a player like Schell lead their defense into the upcoming playoffs, but should also not be surprised if he is a high first round pick in the next IFSL Draft.
Z. Watts - RB - Dallas Bird Dogs
Att Yards Avg Lg TD
245 1174 4.8 61 8
Up next is Z. Watts, who was a different animal this year. Watts was able to put the team on his back and use that breakaway speed to not only lead the league in rushing yards, but to lead the league in rushing Touchdowns as well!! Zoe Watts definitely had the league on notice as being the number one option that his team could count on . As much praise I’d love to give the guy, I think the stats speak for themselves.
My Selection:
If it were up to me on who the DFSL MVP is this year, I would definitely give it to S. Howitzer. This man had one of the most iconic quarterback season the DSFL has ever seen!! The efficiency that this man would play with was crazy. I do not care if your rebuttal is “Well Sause, he didn’t lead the league in passing or touchdowns! " Well dingus, there is more to the game than just that, it is about making the right passes, it is about efficiency. The Touchdown to Interception ratio he had was something to marvel, coming in at 21:6. Howitzer has a bright future, not only in this developmental league, but also the International simulation football league. Sause, out.
