After a stunning performance this past year, winning the Jim Thorpe award, Romulus Roman has declared for the draft. His draft stock skyrocketed as the #1 ranked Purdue Boilermaker defense were able to make it to the college football playoffs before being defeated by #1 Alabama just before the National Championship. Romulus was part of a secondary that broke the school record for turnovers on the season, only allowing 16.1 points per game to opponents. Purdue, which prior to Romulus' arrival had been what one would consider an EXTREMELY average team, it had excelled with the great defense, but also an influx of new coaching staff and recruiters. In what ultimately culminated in a difficult decision to leave the school, Romulus had this to say "I think there are bigger and better things out there for me in the pros. I feel ready, down to my core, to prove myself against the best there is to offer, and that's what the pro league is going to do for me. Purdue has been my home for these past two years, but I have absolute faith they can make it back to the big game without me." Romulus and his brother Remus will both be declaring this year in hopes the pair can remain together, but understand that it may not be possible. "We are a team, and always have been. We cover each other's weaknesses and play to our strengths. I get that we might not be able to play together right off the bat, it would take a lot of draft capital to move up to get us both." Sources say he winked after that statement.
One reporter asked, "Have any teams reached out to you yet?"
Romulus responded, "Of course they have, but I can't let y'all know who that is quite yet. After the draft you will know which team wanted me most."
