Titansfan/xtitanxmvpx back here with yet another quick look into the DSFL hype that precedes the upcoming new prospect draft! Today I’m just going through a quick overview of each team and where they stand going into the final night of play! So, without further ado, let’s dive in and talk about how the prospects have been doing!
Auckland Kiwis
The first team up is Auckland here and looking through their first two nights of play, Auckland has really been a team that has leaned on their runningbacks. With that said, let’s take a look at where they stand in key categories.
Points per game: 13
Yards per game: 250
Rushing yards per game: 116
Passing yards per game: 134
Offensive Leaders
Passing Yards: Raeni Clarke 38/114 for 406 yards and 2 TDs
Rushing Yards: Busch Goose 121 carries for 494 yards and 2 TDs
Receiving Yards: Cutie Patootie 17 catches for 248 yards and 2 TDs
Looking over these stats its clear that Auckland has a gameplan set around Busch Goose and their running game, but through the first two nights that has not lead them to a winning record. The quarterbacks have really struggled on this team, but there have been alot of drops by the receivers to go along with bad throws and reads. Patootie leads the receivers with just 248 yards through six games. They will look to rebound here in night three in order to boost their record into the winning category.
Let’s take a look at the Kiwi team on defense:
Points per game: 16
Yards allowed per game: 268
Rushing yards allowed per game: 91
Passing yards allowed per game: 177
Defensive Leaders
Tackles: Manhatten Project 35
Sacks: Manhatten Project 3
Ints: Henny Tingzpahcbol 1
Auckland definitely has some skilled people on the defsnive side of the ball, however, that hasn’t translated into wins. Remus Roman has been quiet in the secondary as well as their cornerbacks. Henny Tingzpahcbol has the only interception on a team that really needs help stopping opposing passing games. If this Auckland team wants to win, the seconday really needs to step up and provide like the defensive line has been under the leadership of Manhatten Project and his team lead in sacks and tackles. We’ll look forward to seeing him continue to bolster his stock going into draft night.
Chernobyl
Secondly, were looking into the Chernobyl Radioactives and their performance through two nights of play. Chernobyl really leaned on their defensive through the first six games and it shows up in a 4-2 record in which their only two losses came at the hands of a Sols team that was able to score more than two touchdowns in both games.
Looking at the Radioactives on offense:
Points per game: 16
Yards per game: 225
Rushing yards per game: 77
Passing yards per game: 148
Offensive Leaders
Passing yards: Mark Higgins 28/81 for 445 yards and 3 TDs
Rushing yards: Lonnie Jackson 49 carries for 198 yards and a TD
Receiving yards: Sam the Onion Man with 23 catches for 298 yards and a TD
Offensively Chernobyl has really struggled. The Radioactives have relied heavily on their defensive putting the stop on teams and through night one that worked as Chernobyl only allowed a single touchdown in all three games. This isn’t something they can do every game though as shown in their two loses to Macchu Picchu. The offense needs to start with a more balanced attack via their runningbacks. With one of the lowest carries per game stat, Chernobyl really needs to amp it up or they’ll continue to fall even if their defense continues to be strong. Sam the Onion Man has been open on plays, but has had issues with three dropped touchdowns through six games. These are all things that when fixed will propel this team to a Prospect Bowl championship.
Looking at Chernobyl’s daunting defense:
Points per game: 15
Yards per game: 246
Rushing yards per game: 96
Passing yards per game: 150
Defensive Leaders
Tackles: Xavier Walls 30
Sacks: 4 way tie with 1 a piece
Ints: Amy Wong 2
Chernobyl’s defense through the first night of games looked like world beaters allowing only one touchdown scored against and an incredibly low yardage total. After night two, however, the Chernobyl defense returned to a more normal pace as Macchu Picchu single-handedly quadrupled the touchdown number in two games, giving Chernobyl their first loses of the Prospect Bowl. With several high quality prospects on the defensive side, Chernobyl will look to continue to let Xavier Wall, Daniel O’Leary, Mongo, and Amy Wong play free on defense to cause turnovers and loses of yards. The offense needs to step up if Chernobyl wants to win out in night three.
Macchu Picchu Sols
The Sols boast one of the more boom or bust teams in the prospect bowl. Their offense came alive in night two of the Prospect Bowl against Chernobyl, but then also put out a dud against Jakarta to start the night off. You never really know what you’ll get with this team, but they do have some very high quality talent on their roster that General Managers are certainly eye balling as we head towards the draft.
Taking a peek at the Sols’ offense:
Points per game: 17
Yards per game: 256
Rushing yards per game: 98
Passing yards per game: 158
Offensive Leaders
Passing yards: Ishe...ReallyInvisible 37/89 for 552 yards and 2 TDs
Rushing yards: Brandon Prince 106 carries for 220 yards and 4 TDs
Receiving yards: Luke Quick 21 catches for 328 yards and 2 TDs
Offensively, Macchu Picchu has been high flying or egg laying. Ishe...ReallyInvisible has had one of the better quarterback performances of the prospect bowl while also showing off his ability with his legs on a long touchdown run against Chernobyl. Brandon Prince has shown a knack for getting into the endzone….from the 1 yard line and Luke Quick has been exactly that, quick and able to get open for the ball. If this team could find some sort of consistency with their yardage and scoring they would easily be on top in this prospect bowl as they still sit at 4-2 through two nights of play.
Looking into the Sols defense:
Points allowed per game: 17
Yards allowed per game: 221
Rushing yards allowed per game: 96
Passing yards allowed per game: 125
Defensive leaders
Tackles: Andrew Warthol 34
Sacks: Andrew Warthol 3
Int: Willie MIller 4
Defensively, the Sols have been just as daunting as Chernobyl but in the reverse order of performances. The first night they allowed scores and ended up losing a game then in the first game of night two they let Jakarta run all over them in a shallacking, then they bounced back to nearly shutting out Chernobyl’s struggling offense for two wins to finish off the night. Similar to their offense, their defense needs to show consistency (outside of Willie Miller getting pick sixes and Andrew Warthol playing all over the field).
Jakarta Seafarers
The Seafarers have been hit or miss in their performances so far in the Prospect Bowl games. They have high quality players that range all over the field on defense while offensively they have players who are explosive, but inconsistently so. At 2-4 they really need a big showing from their playmakers tonight in order to swing the records in favor of them.
Looking at the Jakarta offense:
Points per game: 16
Yards per game: 251
Rushing yards per game: 98
Passing yards per game: 153
Offensive leaders
Passing: Jacob Raske 48/104 for 537 yards and 2 TDs
Rushing: Aleksandr Vasiliev 121 carries for 448 yards and 4 TDs
Receiving: Bayley Cowabunga 19 catches for 289 yards and 4 TDs
The Seafarer’s offense have really been able to pull off the big plays throughout their six games in the prospect bowl. Aleksandr Vasiliev and Bayley Cowabunga have each pulled off gains of over 40 yards for touchdowns, but they do not have consistency in doing so. If they can continue to rip off huge gains with their above average speed and quickness this team could pull off a sweep tonight and dance to the tune of a 5-4 record leaving the Prospect Bowl.
Peeking in at the Jakarta defense:
Points allowed per game: 15
Yards allowed per game: 247
Rush yards allowed per game: 106
Passing yards allowed per game: 141
Defensive leaders
Tackles: Dexter Hall 38
Sacks: Dexter Hall 2
Int: 3 tied with 1 a piece
The Seafarer’s defense has been anchored by Dexter Hall’s play across the field as he leads the linebacker selection in tackles. However, the Seafarer’s defense has struggled to stop the running game and have let up big gains against a few of the talented runners in this Prospect class. Their secondary has been able to create turnovers but their offense has not been able to take advantage for points of their own. The Seafarer’s need the complete package of booming young speedsters to show up tonight if they want the chance of stepping out of the Prospect Bowl with a winning record.
With four talented teams of prospects chomping at the bit to go at each other for one last night anything can happen. Will the Kiwis or the Seafarers flip the script and come out on top or will the two dominating defenses leading the Prospect class continue to win out? Tune in at 8 PM EST/ 7 PM CST tonight for the results and wear those colors proud! Titansfan, signing out!
