In the previous sim, lets face it: it was very easy to max out your stats, at least the important ones. With the growth of the league, and the move to a new sim, it was becoming evident that gap between max earners and casual earners needed to be widened. As a casual earner, you still had a great opportunity to max out the necessary stats without much effort. Max earners were less common, but those that did max earn didn't stand too far apart from those that were less-attentive to their TPE earning. But just how easy was it to be maxed-out running back in the league of old?
Here were the starting attributes for each Running back archetype, and the amount of TPE required to max out every stat available. Its important to mention the old update school was also more forgiving for stats above 95. I also took out the old "All-Purpose Back" archetype to provide a 1:1 look at each archetype. I'm including an adjusted total which takes out TPE used on useless stats such as throwing/kicking/tackling, since you can't improve these stats in the new system.

Under the old system, if you were a running back you could earn between 1140-1190 TPE and have a fully maxed out build, or 1040-1090 TPE for all the most important stats. Even without completely maxing out, you'd still have a very effective build at around 800 TPE. Earning TPE wasn't much different either. Although there were less games to predict, there used to be trivia added to the point tasks which allowed for some pretty free TPE since everyone just copied the right answers anyway. The most ever earned in the old system was 1519 total TPE - if you truly max earned in your career, you could hit regression and not have to take ANY TPE out of your stats! Having a max build was very achievable even for the consistent yet not max earning players in the league.
Lets compare these to the new builds. Not only was the update scale changed to require more TPE for stats above 95, but new traits were added which each cost a chunk of TPE + have stat requirements before purchase, along with a new stat in Competitiveness, all of which really widens the skill gap and puts extra importance on where your TPE is spent, along with giving more incentive to truly max earn. In this I will show the total to max your stats, along with the total for stats + traits.

Surprisingly, at least for me, Speed back takes *less* TPE than even the adjusted TPE from the previous build to max out the stats. The other ones are slightly above but still on par with the previous build's TPE. However, the traits are where it really sets the new scale apart, especially in the case of the speed back. These traits along with the added competitiveness stat give much more diversity in how you build your player. Decisions on how you want your player to play are a bit tougher and you have to think a little more about how you distribute your TPE rather than just going "SPEEDY BACK GO BURRRRR". Speaking of speed, its important to note that speed now takes 85 to 110 more TPE to max out than previously, a much needed change because of how big of an impact speed makes in the sim. Shockingly, the Power Back and Fullback archetypes take the most TPE to completely max out as well and now have a chance at important roles on each team. Each archetype feels more viable in this sim and the TPE you earn seems to matter much more than it did previously. For me personally, I'm at over 1150 TPE and I still have plenty of spots to put my TPE. For my previous player, I earned a peak of 1100 and was basically done spending it because none of the stats were important.
It is an exciting time in the ISFL right now as we can see a variety of different builds that can be effective, rather than the sim of old where you could max out 3 attributes and be just as good as most other builds. I, for one, welcome the increase in TPE required to be the best, and think it was a great step for the league to make reward of max earning more satisfying while diversifying the viability of different character builds. Surprisingly, at least for me, Speed back takes *less* TPE than even the adjusted TPE from the previous build to max out the stats. The other ones are slightly above but still on par with the previous build's TPE. However, the traits are where it really sets the new scale apart, especially in the case of the speed back. These traits along with the added competitiveness stat give much more diversity in how you build your player. Decisions on how you want your player to play are a bit tougher and you have to think a little more about how you distribute your TPE rather than just going "SPEEDY BACK GO BURRRRR". Speaking of speed, its important to note that speed now takes 85 to 110 more TPE to max out than previously, a much needed change because of how big of an impact speed makes in the sim. Shockingly, the Power Back and Fullback archetypes take the most TPE to completely max out as well and now have a chance at important roles on each team. Each archetype feels more viable in this sim and the TPE you earn seems to matter much more than it did previously. For me personally, I'm at over 1150 TPE and I still have plenty of spots to put my TPE. For my previous player, I earned a peak of 1100 and was basically done spending it because none of the stats were important.
It is an exciting time in the ISFL right now as we can see a variety of different builds that can be effective, rather than the sim of old where you could max out 3 attributes and be just as good as most other builds. I, for one, welcome the increase in TPE required to be the best, and think it was a great step for the league to make reward of max earning more satisfying while diversifying the viability of different character builds.
