I would like to welcome everyone back to the next part of my off season interview series. Normally I do this only with my teammates, but today I have a pretty special guest for everyone! I am glad to welcome on wide receiver Jaycee Higgins to the interview show today! Jaycee is the first ever non teammate I have interviewed, so I would be lying if I said I was not a little anxious. But lets go ahead and get started. Jaycee - Welcome! Lets start out with some draft talk. You were picked in round 2, pick 16 by the San Jose Sabre Cats! Fun fact I was also picked last year at this exact same spot. (Take notes General Managers, round 2, pick 16 is the money spot in the draft )Take me through the draft process. How did scouting go? Also did you have any guesses you would ultimately land in San Jose?
Net:
Thanks for having me Sal! Really blessed to be here. Throughout the scouting process I had a ton of people reach out, in fact every team did! I did not have a preferred spot at all but as the days got closer I noticed teams who definitely had more interest in me, and one of which was San Jose. I didn’t think I would slip to the pick they had but I’m happy I ended up where I did. Going 2nd round is still very impressive and I get to help a team rebuild and grow and be a main part of that

I love the draft process so much. One of the fun things is putting the pieces together to the puzzle, like you said as the draft gets closer you can always tell who has more interest than the others. That's great that you got drafted somewhere where you have the chance to grow and build together though. That is one of the things I have loved about Honolulu also. Looking back on last season you had 1300 yards and 11(!) Touchdowns. That's an incredible season right there. With production like that I am sure Kanaas City is hoping you get to stay down for another season. Have you heard whether or not you will be staying down or will be getting called up?
Net:
I’m staying down at least one more season. My connection with Carter Knight really ignited my huge season a ton of credit to him
Beck
That's awesome. The connection you and Carter Knight have could result in some record breaking seasons for sure. What goals do you have for yourself and also for your team for this upcoming season?
Net :
It is always tough to come up with goals, but you always gotta hope for a championship. But if not I will not be too mad about it. I just wanna build connections and relationships while I’m down here.
Gbeck765:
Do you have any predictions for how Kansas City or San Jose will do in this upcoming season?
Net :
KC should be a playoff team, a good one too. San Jose while I am always biased towards my squads, I have to come back to earth for this on. We won’t be good this year but that is not a problem. It is a rebuild and this is the shit that’s gonna happen excuse my profanity. In a few seasons it’ll change but for now we gotta get these young cat’s growing
Gbeck765:
I love the straight forward honest thoughts there on your teams. We are in a rebuild right now in Honolulu. It can be rough but that's where locker room culture and stuff takes over and makes it all worth it. Well as we wind down this interview, is there anything else you would like to say to the leagues or anything you would like to make known?
Net :
Yeah, just to wrap it up. Hard work and dedication is vital in this league, whenever you get knocked down get back up. Draft position is just a number, so it’s not where you start, it’s how you finish. Are you going to go 3rd overall and have a career with poor decision making or go 40th and make 3 pro bowls and become one of the most inspiration people in the league? Choice is yours
Gbeck765:
I freaking love it! You are some one who I have followed from afar now and have always loved your attitude and positive presence on the forums. So I am so glad I have finally got the chance to sit down and talk / interview with you. The motivation In your statement there lays things out perfectly for those who are wanting to achieve success. Thanks again so much for your time today. I can not wait to see how things go for you in your career, you have a big fan here (me). Have a great rest of your day!
Net :
You to man! Thanks for the time
