Hello sim sports fans!
With the Season 36 ISFL draft approaching, mock draft szn is in full swing. A few of us rookies in the class (well, 6 real rookies and me, the impostor recreate rookie) decided to join forces to create an in-depth, four round mock draft.
To do this, we each took control of two ISFL teams and analyzed their current rosters, DSFL senddowns, and needs from the draft. We then proceeded through the draft with each person making the pick whenever one of their two teams was on the clock. We did allow trades, but we limited the scope to only picks within the mock draft itself – as a result, only one trade was successfully negotiated throughout the draft.
The teams were randomly allocated as follows:
- @yesboom
- @NonComplicit
- @PurpleReign
- @PurpleReign
- @DREAMSLOTH
- @Chucky
- @yesboom
- @NonComplicit
- @AnUnoriginalGuy
- @slate

We hope that you enjoy reading! If you disagree with our assessment of our draft stock, make sure to comment and explain how we’re wrong – it boosts engagement metrics!
Without further ado:
Round 1, Pick 1
The Colorado Yeti select:
@Repgnar - Teemo Swift
Safety, Minnesota Grey Ducks
With the Yeti's second straight 1oa pick in consecutive drafts, Colorado will be looking to find an immediate difference maker on a depleted defense, and luckily this class has a ton of options to offer on that front. User Repgnar is not only the highest TPE player in the class, but his experience with sim testing and his position as the Grey Ducks' newest GM offer a lot of positives beyond just his on-field performance. I project Swift as an immediate callup at safety, with longer term potential to transition to CB as it is a position of great need for the Yeti. There are a lot of other great options the Yeti could take here as well; in particular I wouldn't be surprised to see the Yeti select PurpleReign (CB Graham Harper) 1st overall thanks to that pressing need at corner.
Round 1, Pick 2
The Austin Copperheads select:
@Nathan - Nathan Meagher
Defensive tackle, Bondi Beach Buccaneers
The Copperheads started off slow this year, going 1-9 over their first 10 games only to pick up some upsets on a 4 game winning streak near the end of the season and miss out on the first overall pick. The Copperheads have some major needs on both sides of the ball, with no TE, only 1 DE, 2 WRs, and 1 DT on the roster. My goal for this draft is to address these needs to give Tight End 82 another chance at the playoffs before regression takes their soul TPE.
As offence is the deeper side of the ball this draft, I decided to address our defesive needs first. With two major needs on that side of the ball in both DT and DE, the Copperheads could go either way here and not be wrong. While it may seem that DT is the bigger need, given that the only DT on the roster, Candice D. Fitinyomouf, is IA and has only 1 more season before auto-retirement, DE is extremely shallow this year with only 5 viable draftable players this year. Even so, the Copperheads go with Meagher here, currently tied for the TPE lead amongst DTs, hoping for a top DE to fall to their 2nd selection.
Round 1, Pick 3
The New York Silverbacks select:
@XaveValor - Xavier Valorian
Defensive tackle, Portland Pythons
Malcolm Savage emerged as one of the top QBs in S35. However, there are few weapons for Savage to leverage. The RB corps leaves a lot to be desired, with two aging RBs (at 618 and 205 TPE, respectively) and one retiring after S36. Tugg Speedman, the only WR on the roster with > 500 TPE, is entering their third season of regression in S36. Additionally, there are only two TEs on the roster, neither of which has > 400 TPE. All this on top of the fact that one of their two lineman is IA and the other is retiring as of S36.
On the defensive front, depth is fairly limited across the board. NYS is actually in a good spot with their starting S, CB, DE, and two LBs, but that's about it. Four of their defensive players are IA and another is retiring in S36, leaving 9 human players in total for the rest of the defense; oh, and the only DT swapped to TE! That gives active players on the NYS defense a total of 5,897 TPE, or 655 average per player. Not awful, but not exactly the top of the league either. After all, they did finish at 6-10 and with the second most points allowed on the season.
In total, this team needs a rebuild. It would make sense for the Silverbacks to target high-ceiling players coming from the DSFL, either leaving them in the developmental league for another season and calling next season a wash or seeing if the new starters can have a meaningful impact in the short-term. In any event, it's not likely this team wins an Ultimus next year, but they can set themselves up for success in 2-3 seasons.
With this in mind, NYS takes one of the top 2 DTs. No active DT on the roster (MacGuire swapped to TE). Limited depth in the front 7 -- only three front 7 players over 300 TPE. Drafting for need and taking a solid locker room presence with massive career potential.
Round 1, Pick 4
The New Orleans Second Line select:
@PurpleReign - Graham Harper
Cornerback, Norfolk Seawolves
I do not feel great about this pick, as for obvious reasons it is rather awkward. However, with the top two defensive line talents off the board, and no third defensive lineman worth taking this high, I had to look somewhere else at other needs. The obvious one is at CB or Linebacker, and frankly CB is a bigger need. Wide receiver was also considered but ultimately with there being so many high quality ones it was better to wait until the second pick to see who would be available there. With that being said I chose to pick myself because I am the clear leader in CB TPE and activity, having two jobs and making numerous media and podcasts. I sim test like no one else and as a new user I can only improve. Overall I believe this pick would be a slam dunk, even if it is not the ideal pick.
Round 1, Pick 5
The Chicago Butchers select:
@Fordhammer - Jean-Ralphio Saperstein
Defensive end, Kansas City Coyotes
A bottom-half defensive line with 44 sacks led by a regression prone Red Arrow Jr. means Chi-town's gonna need to look for a good DE who can take the reins. Look no further than the TPE-capped JRS, who led the DSFL in sacks and will probably make an immediate impact with the Butchers. He can be a day-one starter and immediately help this defense.
Round 1, Pick 6
The Berlin Fire Salamanders select:
@Liter - Fred Edison
Linebacker, Kansas City Coyotes
It's actually funny - they're second in the league in sacks, but their linebacker corps is a big old question mark. Yeah, they drafted Beck in the last draft, but they still need replacements for the aging McMullet and Schell. Enter Fred Edison, a capped player who will immediately help a team with not that much at the position.
Round 1, Pick 7
The San Jose Sabercats select:
@Punk42AE - JR Frankenstero
Defensive end, Dallas Birddogs
Having 0 DE currently on the roster and with the pressing need of upgrading their pass rush, the league's worst sacking defense turns to JR Frankenstero to bolster up their position. An impact player, Frankenstero will step up Day1 and help this defense maximize its potential.
Round 1, Pick 8
The Philadelphia Liberty select:
@Chucky - Kevin McThumper
Linebacker, Bondi Beach Buccaneers
The feet lovers in Philadelphia had a heart-breaker of a season. Even though they split the series 1-1 with both Berlin and YKW, there overall head-2-head record was lower than YKW and so they had to spend the post-season on their couches harrasing rookies to send feet pics. However, they are a really young team that albeit has some regressions, they have drafted well in the past to help guide them from the era of Pick-6s by neg to the tutelage of Shinomyia. However, Liberty has a clear need at LB, as one of their starting LB is set to retire at the end of this season and their DSFL LB pick up So-much Jazz hasn't been earning as much as they would like. Liberty expected majority of the LB to be gone by the time this pick came around, and they know there is come needy LB teams coming up. So they go ahead and take the leader of the BBB defense and start LB Kevin who lead the DSFL in tackles, and tackles for loss. Kevin is also a strong TPE earner in a very competetive class.
I also decided to pull a Purple and pick myself here, and heard some users really love that. Regardless, going with any of the top 4 LB is the right call as not much seperates us in terms of TPE. So I wouldn't be suprised if Akayre or Reily's name is called before mine or Edison's.
Round 1, Pick 9
The Yellowknife Wraiths select:
@iStegosauruz - Mister Hogmally
Tight end, Dallas Birddogs
Yellowknife is coming off a relatively impressive season. Despite their 8-8 record and a loss in the Wildcard Round, Yellowknife had the second-best defense in the league and six losses decided by one TD or less. The defense has a few gaps but certainly nothing glaring shy of adding depth, and the offense has some fairly solid weapons at its disposal including a young RB corps and a clear WR1 in Bernd D. Brot. This leaves YKW in the position of adding some core pieces during the draft that can get the franchise into win now mode in 2-3 years, if not sooner.
There's no TE on the roster. Brot is carrying the WR unit, as Kai Sakura is retiring and Mark Walker is entering their twilight years. The BOT OL that YKW has right now should be fine for another 1-2 seasons, assuming they can't find their OL of the future in this draft, though it's likely a position they'll want to address sooner than later without any human OL players on the roster. The defense only has two LBs over 800 TPE, and one other LB who is about to enter regression and has < 500 TPE; additionally, their only DT is from S29 and has < 700 TPE -- the DEs help make up the gap, but it couldn't hurt to build around this sooner than later.
TE and LB are the key needs here, though YKW could stand to bolster their front seven as well. They must address at least 2-3 key positions in this draft with high-ceiling players to position themselves for a playoff run in the next couple years. Without a single TE on the roster, I think they go with the former to kill two birds with one stone and address some of the needs at WR as well. Given the depth of talent in most skill positions -- and lack thereof at TE and OL -- YKW can sit back and let the board play out, and find a high TPE option falling to them with the 9th pick of the draft.
Round 1, Pick 10
The Orange County Otters select:
@Friesen1520 - Ja’uan Holland
Safety, Norfolk Seawolves
OCO is a really really young team, with 6 players entering regression, out of which 3 are entering their 2nd year, and 3 that are entering their first year. Their biggests needs are clearly safety and WR. Given the fact that this draft is going heavy defense, the Otters will wait until the second round to pick from the 9 WR which 4 are capped, and will rather pick a safety. I debated this pick heavily as both of the current maxed S are great picks, at the end of the day I went with S Holland, ran by user Friesen1520. With this pick OCO will undoubtedly have 2 of the best graphic makers in the league currently. User Friesen1520 is an outstanding user who makes great graphics and has a great LR presence. I wouldn't be suprised if they one day become a GM in the DSFL or ISFL.
Round 1, Pick 11
The Chicago Butchers select:
@yesboom - Ignatius Reilly
Linebacker, London Royals
With their DE of the future set in stone, Chicago goes to the next position of need. Tied with Liberty draftee Kevin McThumper for most tackles, Ignatius Reilly looks to help a team in which Dexter Hall continues regressing. Along with Rumble Ronson, him and JRS hope to elevate the line and get more sacks.
Round 1, Pick 12
The Arizona Outlaws select:
@Ulaire - Akaki Akayre
Linebacker, Portland Pythons
One of the best, deepest team of the ISFL, the Outlaws have very few need. That being said, Burfict, their LB, has been losing a step with the age and Arizona might look toward the future with a LB here. While Akayre shouldn't see the field his first season, with one or two more years in the DSFL he should be ready to steal the starter position and help this already very complete team.
Round 1, Pick 13
The New Orleans Second Line select:
@Raven - Octavio Pérez
Wide receiver, Kansas City Coyotes
This pick was extremely difficult to make, although position wise it was actually very easy. The top linebackers were off the board and while defensive line was a need, I felt it could be addressed later in the draft and I would rather have my pick of the litter at wide receiver. That being said, it was near impossible to decide which receiver would be the best out of the lot. In the end I went with the safest pick being Raven. Raven has been an active user since season 1 who has been a fun and compassionate individual in every experience, I have had with them. Ideally, I would have liked to trade down with this pick so that I could have picked up some more capital and gotten one of the top wide receivers, but in the end I still feel like I got a dependable user.
Round 1, Pick 14
The Honolulu Hahalua select:
@Twenty6 - Quendyn Quarterstorm
Safety, London Royals
Almost everyone has Friesen going here, but he was off the board before the pick was available, however I see very little difference between Friesen and Twenty6 in terms of what I expect them to bring to the teams, so I can safely say I am not upset with this pick. In an ideal world I would have traded back here, however there was no ability to do so and so I took the best user available and was happy to find them at a position of need. Frankly, I could see this being the pick even if Friesen isn't available, but either way Honolulu should be happy with their new first round talent.
Round 2, Pick 1
The Colorado Yeti select:
@DREAMSLOTH - Jarvis Harbinger-Marjin
Running back, Portland Pythons
Having started to address their defensive needs in the 1st round, Colorado turns to retooling their offense in the 2nd. The Yeeti offense appears to be on its way out under new GM SwankyPants, which could mean the team aims to find a successor to the two regressing RBs on their roster in this class. My sources tell me that Colorado might look elsewhere besides former Yeti G2019 to fill that need, so I project them to instead take the best new create at RB in the draft. User dreamSloth, who has already picked up a league job as graphics graders and become one of the mainstays in rookie Discord, has definite 1st round potential, so scooping him up at the top of the 2nd is a good value at a position of need.
Round 2, Pick 2
The Austin Copperheads select:
@`NonComplicit` - Aqeel Steele
Defensive end, Minnesota Grey Ducks
The Copperheads snap up Steele here, taking the last 250+ TPE DE left on the board. After Steele, there were only 2 DEs left, both hovering around 200 TPE, and the difference was too great to pass up here. Steele is a great user, as I have had the pleasure of interacting with them in both the Minnesota locker room and general discord servers. I also heard that he's hosting a town of salem game in the discord, which you should definitely join. Luckily for Austin, this WR class is extremely deep this year, and Yellowknife was the only other team who truly needed a TE this draft, and they already selected one in the first round.
Round 2, Pick 3
The Philadelphia Liberty select:
@g2019 - Sconnie McSix
Running back, Norfolk Seawolves
After shoring up their defense with the stud LB, Liberty will look to add a running back behind star RB Lonnie Jackson who will be entering his second year of regression and will lose about 25% of his TPE and end up close to a very commendable 840 TPE. The other 2 RB they have are inactive, with user Jax Baxer having logged in back in May and only has 274 TPE. Philadelphia would love to get user g2019 who was part of the ultimini rushing attack with star QB Pete Zuh. Sconnie McSix is a power back who will form a great rushing attack with speed back Jackson. Philadelphia will need to heavily feature their rushing game this season while they wait for their new QB to gain more TPE and usher them into the golden era. I expect this pick to be a lock RB with either JMH or McSix being picked here.
Round 2, Pick 4
The Baltimore Hawks select:
A trade!
Arizona receives: BAL 2.04 || Baltimore receives: ARI 2.12, ARI 4.12
Baltimore decides to move their GM pick down by trading with Arizona, netting an extra 4th round pick in what should be a deep class.
Round 2, Pick 4
The Arizona Outlaws select:
@JoshiePoo - J.T. Kurbis
Offensive lineman, Kansas City Coyotes
Having picked a LB in the first, Arizona find themselves with no pressing needs left. The Outlaws decided to go quality over quantity and trade 2.12 and 4.12 for 2.4 to grab J.T Kurbis, the most dominant OL of the draft as well as the best player left on the board. Kurbis, the 3rd highest TPE earner of the draft, could see the field in a season or two and lead the way for Cue Jr to another All Pro season.
Round 2, Pick 5
The Sarasota Sailfish select:
@abh89 - Harley Andrews
Defensive end, London Royals
The Sailfish have limited options to trade down, as they need to stay in the 2nd round for their GM pick, and the high number of GM picks in the 2nd round mean that any trade up is not jumping ahead of that many competitors. While I do think the Sailfish will end up finding a trade partner with this pick, any trade will likely have a very small value attached - something in the range of a 5th round pick in this draft, or maybe a swap of future picks. Given the narrower focus of this mock draft, I went ahead and projected the Sailfish to stay put and take their GM pick in their own draft slot to keep things moving along.
Round 2, Pick 6
The Berlin Fire Salamanders select:
@Charple - Charles Chapman
Defensive tackle, Dallas Birddogs
Another possible day-one starter, Chapman can help plug the hole Bradshaw's starting to let open. He's another member of the Cap club, so he might be in high demand - however, he'll help boost the line alongside first-rounder Fred Edison.
Round 2, Pick 7
The San Jose Sabercats select:
@Gage2 - Tae Dawson
Cornerback, Norfolk Seawolves
While not the most pressing need, with no clear 1st rate LB or DT left the Sabercats turn to Dawson, one of the best player left on the board. San Jose's secondary, one of the best in the league, is slowly but surely aging and might soon lose a step. Having a good CB waiting in the wing will ease the transition in the next few years.
Round 2, Pick 8
The New York Silverbacks select:
@zaynzk - Bonzi Buddy
Cornerback, Minnesota Grey Ducks
2.08 (22) - Fortunately for the Silverbacks, their GM selection is also a solid contributor on the playing field. Though not the highest position of need, drafting Bonzi Buddy in Round 2 still affords the Silverbacks an additional long-term solution at CB, solidifying depth on a defense that will receive great benefit from more high-TPE skill players.
Round 2, Pick 9
The Yellowknife Wraiths select:
@Arkz - Absolute Unit
Defensive tackle, Portland Pythons
2.09 (23) - Yellowknife gets a blessing dropped into their laps with the drafting of Absolute Unit via their GM, Arkz. Unit was one of the top DTs in the DSFL in S35, leading a powerhouse defensive line with first-rounder Xavier Valorian. Assuming Unit doesn't get a first round selection, this is an Absolute steal (get it) for the Wraiths.
Round 2, Pick 10
The Orange County Otters select:
@soevil - Austin Morley
Wide receiver, Kansas City Coyotes
It seems the gamble of taking a Safety paid of for the Otters, as none of the other teams other than NOLA took a WR. WIth that the Otter get their chance to pick their future WR, who they believe to be WR Morley ran by user Soevil. Soevil is a great user albeit being very trigger happy when it comes to @ everyone, and was the first of my class to become a GM. As a GM of KCC he helped FF lead a team of rookies to the Ultimini after the shitshow that went down last offseason. I expect them to continue earning with their media and being a great LR and WR help to the otters.
Round 2, Pick 11
The Chicago Butchers select:
@Rusfan - Mandrews McHollywood
Wide receiver, Kansas City Coyotes
The 'Yotes WR streak continues as Chicago takes Mandrews McHollywood. Another member of the 250 Club, Hollywood has a 1000-yard season under his belt, alongside several other traits. The guy can go 0 to 100 in an instant - the fact he's #1 in yards per carry really says a lot about the power of Hollywood.
Round 2, Pick 12
The Baltimore Hawks select:
@NicholasTheGreat - Bruce Buckley Jr.
Linebacker, Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Baltimore is in an interesting position this year. After making the Ultimini last year, Baltimore is left with a few smaller holes and one giant chasm. The Hawks currently have one WR on the roster, but I'm going to assume they get at least 1 in free agency because there is no way you want a ~300 TPE reciever starting at WR2. Keeping that in mind, the Hawks also only have 1 DE on the roster, and they also are a little bit lacking in LBs.
The Hawks first pick of this draft is a forced GM pick, while also filling a need for the Hawks. Hopefully, NicholasTheGreat can start earning soon, as he currently sits at 119 TPE, almost 200 TPE behind the leaders of this class.
Round 2, Pick 13
The Baltimore Hawks select:
@Pizza-faith - Mike Scott
Defensive end, Minnesota Grey Ducks
Noting the deep WR class, Baltimore decides to take one of the two remaining DEs on the board, nabbing a running mate for Morpheus Czargyros. Mike Scott is run by the user Pizza-faith, who makes really cool graphics, also their render is Michael Scott, so why wouldn't you draft them? Baltimore is hoping one of Beeblebrox, Dobbler, or Robinson falls to their 3rd round pick.
Round 2, Pick 14
The Austin Copperheads select:
@Mooty99 - Zaphod Beeblebrox
Wide receiver, Kansas City Coyotes
The Copperheads take the highest TPE WR left on the board. Beeblebrox is run by user Mooty99, who already has previous connections with the Copperheads, having GMed the team for 6 years and being a part of their war room until this draft. Hopefully, Beeblebrox will be starting at the WR3 position for Austin this upcoming season.
Thank you very much for reading! The draft is continued with Rounds 3 and 4 in Part 2, which you can read here.
