This is going to be an article where I not only highlight needs of teams but I also assess what they are doing well now. I will also be asking a GM on each ISFL team questions about the upcoming off season to give those who are reaching free agency or those entering the draft an idea of what teams may need! This will also serve as current power rankings as well for ISFL teams and an analysis of rosters from my side with some help from the answers of ISFL GMs. This will be a lot of stuff all thrown together so just be aware lol. I will do team by team. Power Ranking write up will come first followed by questions, notable FAs and their needs from my point of view. The numbers I am using stat wise is the teams average per game. Also all these numbers are only updated to week 11 because I started writing Wednesday and don't feel like editing everything. This was a lot of fun especially talking to the GMs so I may continue a smaller GM interview series we will see if GMs would like to continue this!
tldr: i talk about what team is doing good/bad, what gms are looking for in offseason, who they are losing to retirement/Free agency and then where i think they may go
Note: These are just based off stats, free agency and what information I gathered from GMs. The second question is mainly for rookies to determine if they may like a certain teams locker room for or if it sounds like something they may enjoy!
Questions that will be asked of GMs:
1. What area of the ball are you looking to improve? Examples would be pass attack, secondary or defensive line, no need to be specific and you may be as vague as a defensive boost or an offensive boost.
2. What do you look for in users?
So I am going to do this power ranking style and start from my top to the bottom!
ASFC Teams
1. Arizona Outlaws (9-2)
The Outlaws have proven themselves to be the front runners of the ASFC with only two losses thus far and look to only continue from here. With a win in week 12 I believe that they secure their spot in the playoffs. Lets start with what they are doing best, well they are the most efficient team when driving the ball scoring on 49% of drives! They also have the greatest 4th down efficiency and turn the ball over the least per game tied with the Crash. Overall the Outlaws offense is firing on all cylinders and they are looking to make a deep run again this year with a team that is dominating offensively. But what about the defense well they are also dominating. They find themselves top 3 in Sacks, Forced Fumbles, Interceptions and Passes Defended this team is just on a different level. I will say for whoever does play these Outlaws next make sure to figure out how the Crash managed to succeed holding Arizona to only 35 rushing and not turning the ball over even once. It was a phenomenal game for the Crash.
The Good:
Drive Efficiency - 49.38% (1st)
First Downs - 18.09 (2nd)
4th Down Efficiency - 88% (1st)
Turnovers Allowed - 0.91 (T1st)
Turnovers Forced - 2.00 (T2nd)
Rushing Yards/G - 130.91 (3rd)
Sacks - 4.36 (3rd)
Fumbles Forced - 1.36 (T2nd)
Passes Defended - 7.55 (3rd)
Interceptions - 1.45 (2nd)
Penalties - 2.64 (1st)
Time of Possession - 33.00 (1st)
Points For - 33.18 (1st)
Points Allowed - 16.45 (1st)
Rushing Yards Allowed/G - 75.55 (2nd)
The Bad:
Passing Yards/G - 227.55 (12th)
Pancakes - 33.73 (Last)
Tackles - 43.91 (12th)
Arizona GM (kotasa) Answers:
1. In terms of what exactly we're looking for it's mostly creating a pipleline, as it stands right now most of our positions are set for the next 2 seasons before major turnover. Sailor has this season and potentially next for playing and even then we have Winters in the works so mostly developmental WRs, maybe a TE and then OL is always a need. On defense we're going to need some CBs soon in the works with Spottie about to hit regression and Goodhead already in it along with a safety to replace Springer as he's up there and IA. A developmental LB would also be another great addition. DL is pretty well off for the forseeable future.
2. Users is mostly LR fit, we obviously love people who want to be in the WR and scout and stuff but we mostly are searching for people who vibe well in our LR, we're a very world wide team with lots of people in EU, NA and even 2 aussies so the LR is never crazy but is generally steady in terms of activity so that's our primary thing is finding people that meld well with the culture.
Notable Retirements/Free Agents for Arizona:
Herc Kirkby (TE) - 561 TPE
Jack Henderson (CB) - 59 TPE (IA) at DSFL Level
Where Will Arizona Go To In the Offseason:
Well looking at cap space they do not have a ton of room for free agent moves and I feel like their best moves would be to pick some young talent with so many players hitting a regression for this next year. They have a total of 10 players on their roster that will experience regression which could be devastating for the team. Two of which are their star receivers Blondin and Stinkwater. This offseason could prove to be a pretty big hit on the secondary as well with 2 of their corners hitting regression as well as one of their safeties so we look for them to expand there. Arizona has 8 picks currently and I think we will see them most definitely draft a TE this year and call them up so be on the lookout TE prospects you may head to Arizona. I do think we could also see them select a high end WR or CB to start develop as star players at both positions are beginning to hit regression but Arizona would be able to keep these players down for a season or two then let them loose on the ISFL. Something else that we could see Arizona do in the draft is boost the defensive line because as of the writing of this article they have no defensive ends which is honestly surprising. That is something definitely to monitor going into the offseason on how they may approach that. With players Leonardo McTurtle and Raphael McTurtle reaching their first season of regression we could (I think this is least likely to happen from what is mentioned before), we could see their replacements get drafted.
Positions they should target: TE, DE, WR
2. Austin Copperheads (6-5)
After Arizona I feel that it only gets tougher to rank the ASFC because they pale in comparison to the titan that is the Outlaws! Though the Copperheads do have a very solid team so far, they find themselves top 5 in third down efficiency and second in 4th down efficiency. I will say the copperheads have been on a bit of a slide recently with 3 losses and two wins they have seen some struggles mainly on the defensive side of the ball allowing 36 and 38 points to the Otters/Crash which is the most points they have given up to a team so far this season. They are also struggling to control the ball for long because in these 3 losses they averaged around 26.50 Minutes Per game which often gives the upper hand to the other team. They have mainly had issues against the run defense which I feel if they can improve on they can retake control of their season. In the past 5 games they have let up over 100 yards rushing to opponents and in the first 6 they had only done that once! If Austin can fix their run defense I feel that they are guaranteed a playoff spot and potentially much more!
The Good:
4th Down Efficiency - 75% (2nd)
TFL - 2.18 (T1st)
Fumbles Forced - 1.36 (T2nd)
Tackles - 49.09 (5th)
3rd Down Efficiency - 38% (5th)
The Bad:
Drive Efficiency - 35.96% (12th)
Pancakes - 34.73 (10th)
Passes Defended - 4.91 (12th)
Interceptions - 0.55 (13th)
Time of Possession - 28.36 (13th)
Austin GM (Frazzle) Answers:
1) So our immediate need for the upcoming draft is Safety and we’re also looking to get a WR3 in if possible too. Going forward though we will need to plan for our QB replacement as I’ll be hitting regression in a couple of seasons and as it’s the most important position we always need a reliable user there.
2) We’re always looking for great users who are active in our LR and fit into how we are. We’d much rather pick a user who earns decent and is great in the LR compared to a user who may earn really well but just doesn’t fit into our LR.
Notable Retirements/Free Agents For Austin:
DeAndre King (RB) - 878 TPE
Roma Amir-Kani (S) - 415 TPE
Where Will Austin Go With Their Offseason:
As Frazzle said there is a need for Safety and I have to agree currently they have Geralt, Tobias Worthington (30% regression and Mike Holiday (who is being outpaced by S41 safeties). With a very good lineup of Safeties we could see them selecting their safety early on but I think they may go a different route as Mike Holiday will be a sustainable safety I believe. There is a chance they do select safety but we could see them go a different way for example with two LBs hitting regression of their three we could see a LB pick early on and that would not be a surprise to me personally. We could then also see depth added to the DT position on the defensive side. Then lets move to offense with Johnny Patey becoming a Free Agent they look to replace them and maybe go WR with a pick after first round as I do not see them flying off the board too quickly. This will be their WR3 that will slowly work up. We could also see Austin draft their potential backup QB and with what seems to be two reliable QBs this may be the time but is not number 1 priority. They have a lot of needs but I feel developing the LB, S and WR positions will be key this season.
What Positions Should They Target: LB, S,WR
3. Orange County Otters (5-5-1)
Like I said in my ranking before things only get difficult from here on out and the Otters at 3 is no exception. The Otters have one of the best teams I feel but also can somehow be the worst team at the same time if they so please. They are a very inconsistent team passing wise sometimes going for over 300 passing and once they did not even pass 100 yards(but they won that game somehow still dont know how). The Otter GMs are working some kind of hocus pocus and can pull games out of nowhere when they need to do and they certainly do that well. In games where the Otters run for below 100 yards they have gone 0-3 but in games with over 140 yards rushing they 4-0-1. Which is a hell of a stat line with the tie coming against the Fire Salamanders. If the Otters get the run game going they will be able to sneak their way into the ASFC side of the playoffs. In their next five games they play San Jose, New York, Yellowknife, Honolulu and Arizona. New York and Honolulu find themselves bottom 5 in run defense while Yellowknife and Arizona are top two so it will be a tough road for the Otters from here on. The main reason Otters find themselves here because if the run attack gets stopped, their chances significantly drop.
The Good:
Turnovers Forced: 1.45 (3rd)
Rushing Yards/G: 164.36 (1st)
Yards Per Carry: 4.71 (2nd)
Time of Possession: 32.73 (2nd)
Passing Yards Allowed/G: 244.55 (3rd)
The Bad:
Drive Efficiency: 34.35% (Last)
4th Down Efficiency: 27% (12th)
Passing Yards/G: 195.36 (Last)
Yards Per Attempt: 6.27 (Last)
Pancakes: 34.64 (12th)
Tackles: 43.09 (Last)
Sacks: 1.91 (Last)
Otters GM (Slate) Answers:
1. Filling out the defense - we have a great young core mostly at DL but also 1 LB and 1 CB (plus one current star CB who we won't need to replace for a while). So filling out LB group and adding S are priorities.
2. People who are engaged and excited about the league for reasons beyond just stats and wins. Users who find a lot of value in the community of the league are ones who are going to stick around and contribute the most to the team. And also are just the most fun to have around!
Notable Retirements/Free Agents For Orange County:
Rean Schwarzer (S) - 341 TPE
Molki Koivu (TE) - 544 TPE (20% regression)
twerkly dingleberry (DT) - 245 TPE
Bender Rodriguez (LB) - 346 TPE
Where will the Otters go from here:
Well today we have just received news of Bender Rodriguez's retirement which definitely lets the Otters know that they need to kick it into full gear! Looking at what the Otters currently have they currently have 3 young players on the D-Line, one young CB paired with a star CB, as well as one young LB. Now this means that we could see them bolster their defense with the addition of a safety as one is reaching FA and the other has retired after this season. Linebacker and Safety look to be their most desired positions on defense as they have young pieces at every other position on this side of the ball and give these players a couple years to develop this team could be deadly on this front. Lets shift the focus to the offense. They have two quarterbacks playing down in the DSFL so they are good there, then they have a young WR and TE as well as a star WR so we could look to see an expansion in the passing game in the latter rounds with such a good WR class. They do need to bolster their OL but I feel they are not the only team to need that.
Positions they should target: S, LB, WR
4. San Jose SaberCats (4-7)
The San Jose SaberCats ahead of Secondline may be a surprise but hear me out man this just feels right. San Jose has had the toughest schedule thus far which may explain their record a bit more for those who haven't fully kept up. They are top 4 in drive efficiency, first in first downs and 3rd down efficiency and additionally find themselves top 3 in passing yards per game. The offense has really been firing on all cylinders. Their run offense in their four wins has been amazing rushing for over 100 yards in 3 of those 4 games. Despite averaging only 88 yards rushing per game. The San Jose SaberCats do have a solid shot to make the playoffs still with this division being so close in games constantly. If their defense can hold strong they can even beat the best of teams like in week 3 in a close win vs the Outlaws and if they are able to force those crucial turnovers this San Jose team is deadly as they know how to control that clock.
The Good:
Drive Efficiency - 41.04% (4th)
First Downs - 18.27 (1st)
Third Down Efficiency - 45% (1st)
Passing Yards/G - 292.45 (3rd)
Yards Per Carry - 4.77 (1st)
Time of Possession - 31.45 (4th)
The Bad:
Yards Per Attempt - 6.64 (12th)
Sacks - 2.45 (12th)
Passes Defended - 4.55 (Last)
Passing Yards Allowed/G - 271.27 (12th)
SaberCats GM (RussDrivesTheBus) Answers:
1. so yes, in this draft realistically, just about every position is one of need for us, as we are looking to reload and rebuild quickly. Pass catchers are our biggest hole, but this draft class is pretty deep there, so we'll see what shakes out
2. As for users, we are always looking for positive attitudes and influences first. If they're super active in their locker rooms, that's a plus. Throw high earning on top of that, and you've got a fantastic prospect. Also something I look for is do they have an eye for the future of their player? To put it less mysteriously, do they have plans in place to help them earn down the road? Do they do big media pieces, graphics or possibly thinking about a league job.
Notable Retirements/Free Agents for San Jose:
Fat Jack (DT) - 871 TPE
Cruella De Ville (LB) - 745 TPE
Ioe Torrent (LB) - 700 (50% regression)
Where will San Jose go in the offseason:
San Jose has a lot of holes to fill me and Russ had actually discussed this recently about how a recent trade seeing that the trade did not end well for the SaberCats. They gave up their RB who did retire but a TE who was very solid. We also saw post trade that their young receiver retired which puts a huge dampener on this San Jose offense for next season unless they strike gold on this draft but with such a deep class of WRs and TEs they can make a great pick. Bad news is they do not have a first round pick which could be devastating but at the same time, they have a lot of 2nd round and 3rd round picks with 5 picks between the two rounds! I predict that they pick at least two young pass catchers in these rounds and to mix things up I feel like they flip to the other side of the ball and select their linebacker of the future and defensive end. With all of these picks in the 2nd and 3rd round expect San Jose to make waves this off season. Late AdditionWith the addition of Sconnie McSix their need for WR does drop a bit)
Positions they should target: WR, TE, LB, OL
5. New Orleans Secondline (5-6)
The New Orleans Secondline find themselves lower than they did in my last power rankings and well in recent games they have just not performed to their full ability. Nonetheless, I do think this is a great team totally not biased to my current GM Jason. The Secondline have the second best pass defense in the league currently and are very solid at limiting teams scoring. Though on the flip side their offense just has not been able to keep up yet but similar to San Jose and Orange County with a few changes and with the luck of the sim gods on their side New Orleans could make the playoffs! Now lets take a look at what may help the Secondline get there. Well first off in games where their opponent scores over 20 they are 1-5 and when they hold their opponent to under 20 they are 4-1. They do need to work on their drive efficiency as they have struggled to score on drives and their highest amount of drives scored on was 50% in the game against the Yeti's. They have also recently have had a nice 4 game streak recently of an interception from week 8 to now which is week 11! New Orleans definitely has a chance to make a playoff push if their offense improves.
The Good:
Yards Per Carry - 4.55 (3rd)
Tackles - 51.64 (2nd)
TFL - 2.09 (T4th)
Penalties - 3.64 (2nd)
Passing Yards Allowed/G - 233.73 (2nd)
The Bad:
Drive Efficiency - 35.60% (13th)
First Downs - 13.64 (Last)
Third Down Efficiency - 30% (12th)
Time of Possession - 28.09 (Last)
Points For - 20.09 (Last)
Secondline GM (JustThere) Answers:
1. Hey Baz, thanks for taking the time to reach out for this questionnaire. At the current moment, we are looking to retool our team, more notably on the defensive side of ball to better help us sustain more wins during the upcoming seasons.
2. With regards to users, we look for users who, in addition to being passionate about the team, are dedicated to become the best earners they can be and do whatever it takes to help the team win. But also, we look for users who like to have a great time as well!
Notable Free Agents for Secondline:
De'Aaron Harper II (CB) - 564 TPE (30% regression)
Jay Cue Jr. (RB) - 547 TPE (60% regression)
Where will Secondline go from here:
We could see Secondline do a lot of things with having two first round picks that will be both closer to the top pick, they could establish players on both sides of the ball. NOLA is a very well rounded team right now that I feel is missing some key pieces if they can draft a developing running back sometime in the middle rounds I feel like that would be great for them assuming they resign Jay Cue Jr. which their is a good chance they may. They also look to add a solid tight end with no one in that position it seems to be a position of need for later rounds but not the biggest importance. Now lets look at defensive side, just looking through the roster and who will experience regression it is obvious that three positions would be great to draft now and let develop so that they can quickly become stars. The three positions are Linebacker which has Solace Avenger (20% regression, 1441 TPE), Carissa Van Campen (S35, 1080 TPE), and Ganyu (20% regression, 967). Even though none of them are being hit hard, I feel that if they want to sustain a linebacker core of this caliber drafting one this season is a must maybe even two. Next we look at the cornerback room where we have The Stig (1317 TPE, 25% regression) and well the rest are set to become free agents. If the need for a cornerback here does not speak for itself I don't know what does. Then the last position we look at is Safety with Chim Rickles (1342 TPE, 20% regression) and Orpheus Czargyros (567 TPE, 40% regression). This is a big one where they look to the future to improve as well because with Orpheus having a couple more seasons left who knows.
Positions they should target: CB, S, RB, LB
6. Honolulu Hahalua (3-8)
The Hahalua have not had a great season thus far but there is good news with such an exciting draft class they actually have their first round pick still so congrats lol. Anyways there are a lot of places Hahalua has been exceptional at for instance they score on 39.39% of drives which is above the league average, additionally their passing game is also above the league average finding themselves top 5 in passing! With the good must come the bad I am afraid. The Hahalua have allowed just too many turnovers against them (either that or the sim hates them) letting up 1.45 turnovers a game which is the third highest right now. They have a bottom 3 run defense which in this league is not ideal if a team is typically able to get a good mix of run and pass, your goose is cooked. They look to improve a defense that has been a bit rough around the edges going into the offseason I believe.
The Good:
Passing Yards/G - 269.18 (5th)
TFL - 2.18 (T1st)
The Bad:
First Downs - 15.18 (12th)
Turnovers Allowed - 1.45 (12th)
Sacks - 2.09 (13th)
Fumbles Forced - 0.55 (13th)
Passes Defended - 4.82 (13th)
Penalties - 6.36 (T11th)
Points Allowed - 34.36 (Last)
Honolulu GM (MMFlex) Answers:
1) Our biggest need is probably at Safety. OL and K would be secondary needs.
2) Locker room fit, which would be good personality and ability to maintain our team culture. Want folks that thoroughly enjoy the league.
Notable Free Agents for Honolulu:
Rockbot Rockbo (WR) - 808 TPE
Turt Golum (TE) - 305 TPE
Where will Honolulu go from here:
With the two starting safeties for Honolulu entering free agency I would have to agree that they need to start looking to developing young players they do have Matthew Fryars a S40 safety but they are not max earning currently. The team has a lot of developing players with majority having no regression at all and the largest regression is for their kicker. We will see them though most likely invest into that special teams because with how much of a hit Ikick ballz will take this upcoming season they will not be able to play him. They have a very solid WR and TE room which makes their pass game so good but if they can increase that pass protection and gain one OL in this draft that would be huge as they currently have none rostered. They have some nice depth on the defense otherwise I feel with a lot of young players at each position look for them to maybe draft a LB or a DT towards the middle part of the draft. Honolulu is set up fairly well for this draft and with the right pieces could be a deadly team.
Positions they should target: S, K/P, OL, LB
7. New York Silverbacks (2-9)
For the New York Silverbacks this is surely a season to forget, it has not been the greatest thus far but their have been some nice points to their teams that if they can expand in other places they will be able to really take control in the future hopefully They have a top 3 rush game which is very good to have and if the Silverbacks were able to establish an excellent passing game soon enough they would be a great team. Most of the great teams in the league are able to switch between the two fluidly. They have not been terrible on the defensive side of the ball but if they had more playmakers or were able to force turnovers more often this team would also see an increase in their chances to win. Ultimately the Silverbacks are just missing some key pieces to become a contender but will not be able to till that is sorted out and this draft is the time to do it.
The Good:
Rushing Yards/G - 121.73 (3rd)
Tackles - 50.73 (T3rd)
TFL - 2.09 (T4th)
Passing Yards Allowed/G - 231.73 (1st)
The Bad:
Turnovers Forced - 0.64 (Last)
Passing Yards/G - 216.55 (13th)
Yards Per Attempt - 6.39 (13th)
Fumbles Forced - 0.45 (Last)
Interceptions - 0.45 (Last)
Points For - 20.55 (13th)
Silverbacks GM (Zayn) Answers:
1. Both sides of the ball hopefully, we likely go BPA, but in a perfect world we go defense with our first
2. Looking for people who are locker room active and honestly with a draft this deep we likely want someone willing to contribute in a war room.
Notable Free Agents for Silverbacks:
Malcom Savage (QB)- 839 TPE
Lenny Kekua (DT) - 488 TPE
Brock Landers Jr. (CB) - 409 TPE
Where will New York go from here:
New York has said they will most likely go for best player available on the board which may be a great way to go with this draft because of how deep it is. So many players are active and very high earning. Well first off Silverbacks do have their QB of the future in Blaine Falco and will most likely draft his backup next season versus this one. We also see a need for a kicker/punter with their 215 TPE K/P now experiencing regression for the first time they could draft one here. They did lose three players on their defensive line via retirements and we could see them pick up a DL player to replace these losses. I feel like a lot of their offense is still developing so we could definitely see them instead go defense and develop there. Namely CB and DL.
Positions They Should Target: DT, CB, K/P
NSFC Teams
1. Chicago Butchers (9-2)
In my last power rankings I had talked about how the Butchers were sneakily putting up good numbers well. They have changed that and are just now straight up putting up great numbers and look like the lead contender in the NSFC after week 11. They are above average in most categories I believe which is great. They are an all around good team that is not overachieving in too many categories and have played consistently well. They have only let an opponent enter the 40 point range once and it was the Wraiths who had a very dominant win against the Butchers in week 2. Their only other loss was a nailbiter against Secondline that came down to the wire with a score of 14-17. This defense has proven they aren't messing around, while on the other side their offense has proven they arent messing around being 5th in the league for points scored.
The Good:
Drive Efficiency - 41.51% (3rd)
3rd Down Efficiency - 40% (T2nd)
Turnovers Allowed - 1.09 (4th)
Turnovers Forced - 1.36 (4th)
Fumbles Forced - 1.91 (1st)
The Bad:
4th Down Efficiency - 25% (13th)
Pancakes - 34.45 (13th)
TFL - 1.82 (Tied for Last)
Butchers GM (Painted) Answers:
1. As for number 1, its a not so well kept secret that this season we're trying to go all out on the Ultimus since it's the last season for our window, given our roster. Next season is the beginning of a soft rebuild, as we'll need to retool our WRs and a lot of our defense. My player will finally get called up to, and a rookie QB is not gonna light the league on fire lol.
2. As for what we look for in users, like almost all gms positions itself comes secondary, when in reality we look for very active/engaging users to draft and add to the team. Our mindset is draft the user first and figure out the depth charts later.
Notable Free Agents for Butchers:
Adrian St. Christmas (QB) - 967 TPE
Apollo Program (CB) - 528 TPE
Brian Duke (LB) - 489 TPE
Where Will the Butchers Go From Here:
Well the Butchers have an interesting route because they will be in a slight rebuild not too much to be honest. St. Christmas enters free agency this season and it looks like that Painted Penguin will be getting the callup and like Painted said a rookie QB is not going to light up the league. They have some solid receivers that can be called up in Ryder, Plant Based and Malcom Grimes during this time so I do not feel like drafting a WR early will be the move depending on how well these 3 are earning. Continuing on the offensive side they look to add some players to the OL as their only one is reaching 30% regression so we could look for some protection for the young QB (but doesnt matter too much cause no injuries just to prevent sacks). TE and RB positions are both areas that need not focus for now. Jumping over to Defense, the line looks solid in DT and DE but may draft a DE to pair with Valorian and make a great rush duo. Linebacker definitely needs a nod with 2/4 linebackers retiring and one in free agency. Then cornerback is in need of an additional corner that will probably get the callup depending on their TPE amount. Then looking at Safety they definitely need a safety with Dee Walt hitting 50% regression. Ultimately they have a lot of needs but I am going to choose the 4 best.
Positions They Should Target: WR, OL, S, LB
2. Yellowknife Wraiths (8-3)
The Wraiths are a team that are doing pretty well but if they can improve in some areas like other teams they can take this division with it being so close. Well lets look at an interesting stat in drive efficiency Yellowknife ranks last in their division. They are above average in 3rd Down Efficiency, Turnovers Allowed, Rushing Yards/G, and Pancakes. They are a solid offensive team that if they can iron out a few things they will be able to make another run for a championship. They do have a solid defense though with the top rushing defense in the league and by a long shot! I am excited to see the Wraiths end of the season with this division being so stacked.
The Good:
3rd Down Efficiency - 40% (T2nd)
Rushing Yards/G - 119.45 (4th)
Sacks - 4.45 (T1st)
Passes Defended - 7.18 (4th)
Penalties - 3.82 (3rd)
Time of Possession - 32.27 (3rd)
Points Allowed - 17.27 (2nd)
Rushing Yards Allowed/G - 59.00 (1st)
The Bad:
Drive Efficiency - 36.42% (11th)

1. This draft we are primarily looking to fill holes in our secondary, along with a WR and maaybe an LB if we are lucky (yes i am leaving zoots typo in)
2. For a user we like folks that are looking for a laid back vibe who are active and easy to get along with. Not against drafting younger users but we trend a smidge older than some teams I feel like as a result. Max earning is awesome but I'll take a great user who isn't necessarily a max earner over a max earner that's a LR ghost. That said we've had several great players that just aren't chatty for whatever reason, and we all go through periods where we aren't able to spend as much time online.
Yellowknife Wraiths Notable Free Agents:
None?
Where will the Wraiths go this offseason:
The Wraiths are looking pretty solid heading into next season we may need to like drug test their players or something cause wtf. The fountain of youth was in yellowknife all along. Lets take a look at Yellowknifes regression players though because now is a good year to start developing with so many great users in this draft! Yellowknife has 9 players experiencing regression and 3 of them are north of 1000 TPE and will most likely easily regain and continue to be dominant players. Yellowknife has two corners that are currently in regression and are their only two corners so look for them to improve there. RB has a dynamic duo that won't be budged for a couple seasons. They could increase their passing game by adding some depth at pass catcher so that these players can hopefully develop with such a great class. Zoot mentioned LB but I want to go somewhere different personally. Lets take a look at the defensive line specifically DT, where we see that their two rostered DTs are Teddy Rhinoback (who I believe is inactive) and Mo Gago who is developing really well but some depth at the DT position could be good for the Wraiths!
Positions They Should Target: CB, WR, DT
3. Cape Town Crash (8-3)
The Crash round out the dominant trio of the NSFC again and I will say that I do see them as somewhat interchangeable with the Wraiths right now. The Crash do some things well that the Wraiths don't which really is what led to such a close game recently but alas the Crash came up short and find themselves just short of breaching the top 2. Though the Crash have a solid shot to make a push next year especially with the Butchers losing a decent amount of people but the Wraiths will still maintain their team for now. The main thing we look for the Crash to improve on is their playmaking ability on defense and their passing game. This could just be as simple as letting players develop but lets take a dive into what the Crash are doing right!

Crash GM (negs) Answers:
1. Hey Baz! I’d say we’re looking for a boost in the passing game for sure since our run games real good. On defense would def like to get as much of a pass rush as possible ?
2. We look for people we think will be great fits in the locker room and who are truly enjoying the league. It’s one thing to just earn cause you feel the need to, we want people who enjoy the league and want to be involved!
Notable Free Agents/Retirements For Crash:
American Boot (TE) - 953 TPE (resigned)
Dominos Pizzaman (LB) - 593 TPE (50% regression)
Escanor Sama (WR) - 484 TPE (30% regression)
Where Will The Crash Go This Offseason:
The Crash have one of the larger rosters I feel with a decent amount of players still in DSFL primarily on the offensive side of the ball where they have two star receivers in Kairo Knight and Mike Ehrmantraut. One will 100% get a callup this season with Escanor Sama retiring which will fill out their pass catching offense unless they wanted the additional receiver just as an extra option. We could look to see them add a TE to the locker room in this draft if American Boot is not resigned but I feel he most likely returns and continues his career with the Crash. On the defensive side, we will look for them to upgrade their rushers on the outside at DE probably with a mid round pick and instead invest in a playmaking TE early on. We could also see them add depth to the linebacker room with the retirement of Dominos Pizzaman. Then of course like more teams they could use some OL players but I feel they are one of the better off teams currently regarding Oline.
Positions They Should Target: DE, WR, LB
4. Sarasota Salifish (5-5-1)
I was very high on the Salifish last time I did rankings and I will continue to be high on them, this defense is legit and their offense has been exceptional as well! I feel like the Salifish have been got by the sim because they put up some of the best numbers but are 5-5-1. It is a sad time to be a Salifish fan at the moment but don't worry yet you guys may be able to continue this into next season! The Salifish have one of the best defenses if not the best only letting up 30+ points once and in that game only lost by a point against the Hawks. I do believe that if the Salifish were in the other division they would be a playoff team but if's do not apply in this scenario and there is a small chance the Salifish make it but that chance exists! Recently we saw a trade by the Salifish which confused me but when someone explained it to me I understood but nonetheless losing Sconnie is not great for the Salifish! Though they did gain a 2nd in a great class we could see them go for a younger player!
The Good:

Sarasota GM (abh89) Answers:
1. Our primary focus will be on the defensive side of the ball with needs short or long term needs at essentially every position group. Of those position groups, LB and CB are probably the higher priorities short term but don’t be surprised to see us go DL or S as those are longer term needs as well.
On the offensive side of the ball we’ll also be looking at making additions at WR, OL, and possibly a RB2/FB.
2. For users, we really like people that are going to contribute to the activity of the locker room. I know we’re all here for simulation football, but that’s just a small portion of the time we actually spend together as a team, so people that are fun to talk with are important for our team. In addition to that, we look for people that seem easy to get along with and possibly even have similar interests outside of sim sports.
Beyond general fit, we also like to look for people that have some level of interest in team management whether that be in strategies, scouting, general war room contribution, or GM aspirations. That added level of interest beyond just their dot on the field tends to keep people around longer.
Notable Free Agents/Retirements:
Aqeel Steele (LB) - 1140 TPE
Carter Knight (QB) - 909 TPE
Johnny Blaze Jr. (WR) - 777 TPE
Cornelius King III (RB) - 548 TPE
Where Should Sarasota Go From Here:
Abh gave me a decent amount of insight and I am going to try and figure out what we may see them do. Well lets look at free agents and retirements. The Salifish have 10 FA's and 3 Retirements, at QB we see Carter Knight retire but with Willier Miller at the lower level Salifish will have their starter for next season, then looking at the other retirement is currently a player they just got on trade a WR who is not too high in TPE. Now lets talk about free agents, we see key FA's Aqeel Steele and Blaze Jr. as two big names that the Salifish may look to resign depending on what the players are looking for. All Sarasotas receivers are either Free agents or retired after this season so it could be a huge tossup and with a new qb they could look to bring in some younger players at WR. Then the only other place of note on the offense is the line where we see one player with 75% regression, one a fa with 30% regression then a starting OL with 20% regression. They could look to add depth this season but may struggle with a smaller OL class. Lets flip to defensive side of ball, they are ok in two positions I would say and that is DE and S. After that its free game with a lack of depth in all positions as well as some reaching free agency especially with a great LB class we could see them target LB most definitely to pair with Steele if resigned. Then there is a lack of DT with their only rostered DT reaching free agency so keep an eye for how they may buff the defensive line!
Positions They Should Target: WR, LB, DT
5. Baltimore Hawks (4-7)
You are telling me that the Baltimore Hawks are doing better than they were last time and I have to move them up??? Who wrote this damn script wtf. Well nonetheless, Baltimore has somewhat turned it around after my last update and if this included week 12 stuff they may find themselves a bit higher but for all extensive purposes with how long of an article this is, Baltimore is 4-7 in my mind. Baltimore has not improved in too many of their bad categories from last time with still the worst rush defense and letting up the second most points per game. The good news is they still have the number one pass offense in the game which continues to be a highlight for this team because they can light up the scoreboard but if the other team can also light up the scoreboard they can be in for a rough time. I would say most likely before looking at free agents they look to bolster this defense especially at the linebacker position but this is without glancing at roster. Regardless we will definitely see Baltimore look anywhere but their passing offense I imagine. If the Hawks retain players hopefully they can scrape up some good players with that juicy 5th round pick.
The Good:

1. Defense. Just literally improve on defense as a whole.
2. Enthusiasm. I really enjoy talking to those who have a interest in the league!
Where Should Baltimore Go From Here:
Well as dude man put it best this defense needs a revamp and I was wrong about the positions quite frankly but they do need to look for people who are gonna max earn. With having picks so late I can see them more likely making moves in free agency so lets see what kinds of players they benefit from adding. They have two linebackers above 700 and one that is above 400 but only season 40 so the Linebacker core is strong right now. Both starting Defensive ends are above 700 TPE right now with no regression so we will maybe look elsewhere. Defensive Tackle may be a spot of concern with one starter there so they may look to expand their depth there. Then he safety core most definitely needs a revamp soon with a fresh batch of faces and the addition of one more corner for depth would probably be the move. Otherwise they have all the pieces they need and if they are able to earn a bit more we could see them jump next season!
Positions They Should Target: DT, S, CB
6. Colorado Yeti (4-6-1)
The Yeti are a team who have had their ups and downs and unfortunately for them the downs have been too much this season but they do have a solid team and have the best set of picks going into the draft so look for this to be a big factor. Lets talk about the Yeti this season well as Swanky had once put it to me there is a 10% chance anytime LiveLaughLove throws up the ball it gets intercepted or is completed for a touchdown which is um alarming. Thankfully theres a higher chance its a touchdown but not by too much. The Yeti have one of the best pass attacks highlighted by the letter E and Hogmally which have been a pretty dominant duo. The bad part comes with the turnovers and the high powered yeti offense getting too ahead of things while their defense is playing catch up all game. I am not sure if the Yeti have a path to the playoffs still but if they do it is slim as hell. I do believe after this season the Yeti could flip their team around and push for the playoffs.
The Good:
Passing Yards/G - 318.91 (2nd)
Yards Per Attempt - 7.81 (1st)

The Bad:

Points Allowed - 28.55 (12th)
Colorado GM (SwankyPants) Answers:
1. Front 7 is probably the area that needs the most attention. We have a couple solid DE's, but we're lacking a DT and could use an extra LB or two.
2. For users locker room fit is the single biggest factor. As a team we're very inclusive and welcoming, but irl average age wise we're also probably one of the older teams in the league. So really we prefer to grab the users that fit that description the most and try and get the positions figured out later.
Notable Free Agents/Retirements for the Yeti:
Cob Corning (CB) - 738 TPE
Triple Option (RB) - 415 TPE
Remi Musgrave-Smythe (OL) - 568 TPE
Where should the Yeti Go This Offseason:
The Yetis have a lot to rebuild but the good news is they have the picks to do it and I am excited to see what they can do. With Laughlove hitting 30% regression they would normally look for a QB but they have RAINN thankfully. Something that Swanky did not mention that I think will definitely need a nod is a RB because with the retirement of Triiple Option and no other back up rbs they are missing a relief RB for their starter and they should be able to find that relief in this draft. They should also look for depth in WR as two are reaching free agency and in regression so they have very little options there. OL is a must need if Remi is not resigned. LB will be ok but depth could be added in a latter round of the draft. DT is very important as neither is above 250 and both are entering free agency. Then depending on if they resign Cob Corning a cornerback could be a need, there are a lot of needs for this team but they have the picks to start developing players now! I definitely went a different way than Swanky did but I see it as two different ways retool your offense or retool your defense with all these picks and I feel like retooling the Offense so that the rookie quarterback will be ready to step in is the way.
Positions They Should Target: RB, WR, DT, CB
7. Berlin Fire Salamanders (3-7-1)
Berlin has been so much better in recent games compared to the last time I did this power ranking and I am so happy for them! Now did the Armor Queen trade work out well um, yes and no. They are still last in rushing somehow but they are winning games so they did something fucking right. I am actually boggled looking at their average stats how they squeezed out two more wins but all the power to you Berlin what the heck. WAIT I JUST DISCOVERED IT, now this may be obvious but in all three of Berlins wins they won the turnover game forcing more turnovers than allowing so if they can reduce their own mistakes and force their opponents to then make the mistakes that is the way to winning for them.
The Good:
Tackles - 52.73 (1st)
Interceptions - 1.00 (T3rd)
The Bad:
First Downs - 14.45 (13th)
Third Down Efficiency - 29% (13th)
4th Down Efficiency - 14% (Last)

1. So we feel our team if pretty strong top to bottom but we're growing. I would say OL or LB would be our 1st positions we may address. Secondary options could be CB or WR.
2. In users we like to look for fun active users in the Lr who like to be involved in aspects of the league. Recently we've taken several recreates but we'd love to add some new users to the mix when possible.
Notable Free Agents/Retirements for Berlin:
Fred Edison (LB) - 936 TPE
Jordan Hartline (LB) - 893 TPE
Really Creative-Name (WR) - 636 TPE
LaDamien Beck (LB) - 302 TPE
Where Should Berlin Go From Here:
Well I think we all see one notable thing with their free agent list thats a fuck ton of Linebackers leaving only one LB in their locker room which is their top earning linebacker. Now I do expect them to bring at least one LB assuming they have the cap space to do that but we will see. Well since we are already on defense lets stick with defense looking at the line, they have two developing DE's and a star DT so we could see a DT drafted for depth but nothing too extraordinary. Secondary, they have 3 corners above 500 TPE and are from S35-37 so no regression to be found. They can hold out on this draft for Corner or try and nab a star Corner this season! Looking at the safety position, if they draft a safety they are crazy especially early on. Lets switch over to offense with Santa Cruz in his 5th season next year, I think the Salamanders skip out on a QB this year with only a two QB class. At RB they are solid with both Armor Queen and Cape The Party Rhino as developmental running backs. WR they are very solid but TE raises some questions as one retired and one enters free agency. A solid TE to help them convert on 3rd Down next season to raise that efficiency may be the play. Then OL, they have no OL playing up in the ISFL so they look for a star OL that is developing really well!
What Positions Should They Target: LB, OL, TE
Well if you read all the way to the bottom congratulations! These ratings are just my perception and this does not at all display the amount of effort a team puts in. After getting to speak with each and everyone of these GMs I just understand how dedicated they are. They want users to have a good experience first and foremost. This was a really fun article to put together and despite it taking a while, I very much enjoyed it. Be on the lookout for a mock draft in the future and maybe some post draft interviews with GMs! Now if you will excuse me I am gonna do absolutely anything besides this.
-Ezra Azazel
tldr: i talk about what team is doing good/bad, what gms are looking for in offseason, who they are losing to retirement/Free agency and then where i think they may go
Note: These are just based off stats, free agency and what information I gathered from GMs.
The Good:

TFL - 1.82 (TLast)
Yellowknife GM (ZootTX) Answers:
The Good:
4th Down Efficiency - 58% (4th)
Turnovers Allowed - 0.91 (T1st)
Yards Per Attempt - 7.59 (3rd)
Pancakes - 37.73 (3rd)
Passes Defended - 7.73 (2nd)
Rushing Yards Allowed/G - 80.82 (3rd)
The Bad:
Turnovers Forced - 1.00 (13th)
Yards Per Carry - 4.10 (13th)
TFL - 1.82 (TLast)
The Good:
Drive Efficiency - 42.13% (2nd)
Turnovers Allowed - 1.00 (3rd)
Turnovers Forced - 2.09 (1st)
Yards Per Attempt - 7.61 (2nd)
Tackles - 50.73 (T3rd)
Sacks - 4.45 (T1st)
Passes Defended - 8.09 (1st)
Interceptions - 1.55 (1st)
Points For - 26.46 (3rd)
Points Allowed - 18.45 (3rd)
The Bad:
3rd Down Efficiency - 28% (Last)
Yards Per Carry - 3.86 (Last)
TFL - 1.82 (TLast)
The Good:
First Downs - 18.00 (3rd)
Passing Yards/G - 338.09 (1st)
Points For - 27.27 (2nd)
The Bad:
Turnovers Allowed - 1.73 (13th)
Rushing Yards/G - 75.64 (13th)
Tackles - 43.45 (13th)
TFL - 1.82 (TLast)

Baltimore GM (dude_man) Answers:

4th Down Efficiency - 14% (Last)
Rushing Yards - 73.91 (Last)
TFL - 1.82 (TLast)
Fumbles Forced - 0.64 (T11th)
Time of Possession - 28.73 (T11th)
Points For - 22.00 (12th)
Passing Yards Allowed/G - 318.36 (Last)
Berlin GM (Dewalt27) Answers:
