Howdy Folks, it’s everyone’s favourite S48 Offensive Lineman named Gusztáv Farkas here.
With the next ISFL draft slowly approachting and with GMs and Scouting staff getting ready to reach out to the rookies and figure out who their future stars are going to be. I would like to take a moment to lay out what I plan to do for my career.
I have a dream. That dream is to have played for every ISFL team by the time I retire. I want to be the first player* to have worn the jersey of every team in the league.
*At least to my knowledge this feat has not been achieved before.
Now for such a quest, I will need to go about it smartly. Once I get drafted to the ISFL, a clock starts ticking down and after thirteen seasons my time is up. As much as I wish I could do a full season with every team, sadly I just cannot do so.
As a result I have had to think of how I will go about my career. A mid-season trade to a new team will have to happen at some point. Maybe even twice or thrice in my career to speed it up even more.
I chose to do this as an OL as I believe this would give me the flexibility to easy slot into any team, be it through FA or trade. As most teams do not run a full set of OLs I can easily slot in and replace a more expensive bot. Trades should also be just as easy. A straight up one for one trade for an OL bot, seeing as I do not possess any value as someone who moves teams every offseason anyways.
So as a note to all the GMs and future GMs of the ISFL who will have the honour of drafting Farkas and to any GMs and future GMs of the ISFL who will be able to sign him over his career.
1. I wish to be called up to the ISFL directly after the ISFL draft. I cannot be lollygagging down in the DSFL while my precious playing years tick away. Not sure how much the sim will like a ~300 ish TPE OL to start the season with, but we’ll make it work.
2. I will only be signing one-year contracts. On top of this I will also be requesting a tamper clause in that puppy. This should help me stay in contact with all GMs in the league as I maneuver through my career.
3. As the league has 14 teams and players only have 13 seasons before auto-retirement I will look to be traded at least once, if not multiple times in my career. Most likely at TDL if I am on a team who is either eliminated by that point or unlikely to reach the play-offs. This also gives me some breathing room in case something happens that makes me need an extra season at any point.
4. I will take min contracts throughout my career to not be more expensive than bot OLs and to leave my team with room to improve.
These are all the tidbits I can think of to disclose before the draft. As noted I will only sign one-year deals, so for any ISFL team looking to draft me, please do consider this. Don’t go wasting your first rounder on me as I will be gone the following season.
Lastly, I hope everyone wants to play ball with this idea. It would be easy for one team to completely block me from this, but I hope to work together with all the lovely folks in this league to make this dream a reality. This career should be really fun to play out and I look forward to the journey that is up ahead.
Farkas out.
