Hey guys and gals and everything in between WildfireMicro here with ISFL Pokemon: NSFC Edition! Basically I will be looking at each ISFL team and assigning Pokemon to them in this two part series. I already kinda did this today in the PBE, but that one was about Nintendo characters and was only done with one conference because I am still segmenting it. This one will be solely Pokemon because a lot of teams in the ISFL use animals to base their branding on, so it should be easy to assign Pokemon based on them, though the non animal teams might be a bit tricky. So without any further ado let's begin:
Baltimore Hawks
The Hawks from Baltimore Maryland have quite a few pokemon to pick from, as flying type is one of the most prevalent in the series. We could do Hawlucha (though honestly that might fit a certain DSFL team more) or something like Fearow. But why not pick the fire bird that is the most like a hawk in Talonflame? Now Baltimore can have the Pokemon that was so powerful in the Gen 6 meta (and may still be really good, I don't keep up with the Pokemon meta), and it even has a bit of yellow in its tail feathers.
Berlin Fire Salamanders
So it turns out a Fire Salamander is absolutely a real animal and was not just made up for the team. While a Salazzle is part fire and might fit the team pretty well considering that it looks a lot like a salamander, I think Charizard fits this team more. Not only does it's pre-evolution Charmander look a lot like a salamander, but Charizard was one of the original starter Pokemon and is one of the most iconic Pokemon around. Hell, look at the original Charizard card price these days, it's insane!
Cape Town Crash
This should be another easy one, as there is a very iconic rhino Pokemon that we can choose. Or at least that was what I thought, as I was originally going to put Rhyhorn here and be done with it. However, why not put the rhino like Pokemon that is actually purple? So, this team will get Nidoking, a pokemon that actually used in Firered why back when and is still a welcome addition to my team today. If you think that Rhydon would be a better choice though, I completely understand.
Chicago Butchers
Ok now for a real tricky one. A butcher is definitely not animal (unless you consider humans as animals), and is more likely to help prepare an animal to be cooked! I guess the closest we can get to a butcher Pokemon would be a knife Pokemon, and the closest we can get to that is Aegislash, the sword like Pokemon. I guess we can have the hand on the logo be holding an Aegislash instead? I don't know, the only other pokemon I can think for this is Bisharp, and that pokemon does have red and grey coloring.
Colorado Yeti
So now we reach an animal that has not been confirmed to exist, also known as a cryptid. A Yeti is an alleged animal that is said to exist in the snowy mountains of the Himalayas. There's only one pokemon that represents a Yeti, and that would be Abomasnow. Also the Yeti is also called the Abominable Snowman, so this fits. By the way, did you know that the word "abominable" means very bad or unpleasant? Just a bit of trivia as a treat for you all, as the question came up in my mind as I was writing this.
Sarasota Sailfish
Now onto the team I was drafted to and was called up immediately to in the Sailfish. There are so many fish pokemon that it would be impossible (or at the very least incredibly tedious and tiring) to list them all, and unfortunately there isn't a true Sailfish based Pokemon. So I just decided to look through the fish based Pokemon and pick the one I liked the most, and in the end I chose Sharpedo. Not only does this shark pokemon look cool, but it reminds me of Sharknado, which is one funny movie from what I've seen.
Yellowkinfe Wraiths
And finally we end with the Wraiths, and honestly the only way we can do this is by giving them a Ghost type Pokemon. I looked through the ghost types and a few did stand out, but in the end I decided that the best pokemon to give them would be Gengar, the original boss of the Ghost types. I was also considering Ceruledge because of how he looks, so honestly you could go ether way with this. If you don't know about Ceruledge, look it up and you may see why I also considered it.
Alright that should do it for this half. I will hopefully be able to do the next part next week so thank you all for reading and I hope to see you all on the field!
