On an old high school football field one man is running sprinting drills. He runs 5 yards forward 5 back. 10 yards forward 10 back. He continues doing this until his breath is ragged and he's run the entire field. That man is Gregory Fletcher and today I, Mike Halaway will be interviewing with him about the results of the DSFL draft.
Mike: It's good to see you again Gregory
Gregory: And it's good to see you too Mike!
Mike: So first off its been a wild week for you huh? Drafted 14th overall and to the San Antonio Marshals.
Gregory: Wild doesn't even begin to describe it man! I just... I can't even begin to describe how it feels for all that pain, sweat, and tears to finally pay off.
Mike: I'd say! I'm surprised to see you out here though? I figured you would be out celebrating this weekend?
Gregory (Laughing): I am celebrating! Well its mostly training but I'm going out for BBQ tonight! So I'd say it still counts.
Mike: No rest for the weary am I right?
Gregory: Well you can't stop in this league. The second you stop you fall behind (Snaps fingers) like that!
Mike: Well Gregory how do you feel about being drafted by the San Antonio Marshals?
Gregory: Ecstatic! I mean did you see the draft Mike?! The Marshals will have the number 1 defense! You can count on it! And I'll be right there leading the way!
Mike: Were you disappointed that the San Antonio Marshals didn't pick you up 10th overall as they had hinted at?
Gregory: Not at all Mike. There was a ton of talent on the board this year and I'm happy to be have been even considered for 10th. Besides 14th isn't that far off!
Mike: Well that's certainly a good attitude to have. So how do you plan to stay competitive with the leagues wide receivers?
Gregory: Well to train, train some more, and then train again! Currently I'm working on my sprinting. I'm trying to push the edge on my running records and to really give me that edge to be first to the ball.
Mike: Are you keeping an eye out for any wide receivers?
Gregory: Definitely John Wachter. He's gonna be one to look out for. I'm going to have to train non stop to make sure I keep up with him!
Mike: Any other players in the draft of note?
Gregory: Well of course all my other fellow players who were drafted by the the Marshals! (Gregory laughs) Honestly I'm excited to catch some interceptions against Wolverine Justice.
Mike: Have you met Wolverine before?
Gregory: Nah never had the honor but I look forward to meeting him on the field.
Mike: What's your opinion on the drama surrounding Wolverine Justice?
Gregory: Ah well I don't really like to comment on things like that... I mean the guy committed a crime and he served his sentence. It's not really my place to judge.
Mike: Well moving on there were 10 corner backs in the draft this year. Some were drafted before you. Namely Andre Bly Jr., Tegan Atwell, and Terrell Brister. Do you think you should have been drafted before them? Do you expect these individuals to outplay you?
Gregory: Hmm well.... I suppose we were all drafted exactly when we needed to be? Honestly I think all these guys are great and it's all about the hardwork. If one of us falters well, they're gonna get left behind. As far as outplaying? Well let's just say I don't intend to fall behind. Plus with all the other amazing defensive players on the Marshals it will help me make big plays.
Mike: So I've heard you will be moving to San Antonio soon is this true?
Gregory: Oh of course. The fiancé is really excited. I'm a little more nervous than her, I mean my whole family lives here in Ohio and I've never lived anywhere else! I know it's just what I'll have to get used to but I'll miss being so close to my friends and family. Although I'm sure the other Marshal players will become friends and family in due time.
Mike: Well we are gonna miss you in Ohio Gregory. Once again it's been an absolute pleasure to be able to sit down and chat with you.
Gregory: It's been great Mike! I'll miss having these sit downs with you but I'm sure I'll be back in Ohio in the off season.
Mike: Of course Gregory and once again good luck.
This has been Mike Halaway with whio news with Gregory Fletcher's last sit down before he heads into the DSFL pre-season. Many in Ohio have high hopes for the young man and many were happy to see him go to the Marshals. However only time will tell if he succeeds or fails...
