Week 7
Norfolk Seawolves at Tijuana Luchadores
Wolverine Justice and the Norfolk cast travel to Mexico to face the Luchadores in week 7. The Seawolves are currently tied with the best record in the West with Portland with a 4-2 record and on a 2 win streak. Justice has the best passer rating out of all the quarterbacks in the DSFL and has been developing at a phenomenal rate. However, this matchup may not be as close as their week 5 game where the Seawolves squeaked out a 20-17 victory. Tijuana has tasted their first victory against an elite DSFL team in the San Antonio Marshals and will look to continue their success at home. Norfolk will need to stop their impressive run game (and Sidney Spinelli) if they hope to make it out of Tijuana as the victors.
Chicago Blues at Portland Pythons
In another week 5 matchup repeat, Chicago goes back to Portland to face the Pythons after defeating them severely in week 5; 23-7. The Pythons struggled to stop the Matt Strike led offense and the impressive wide receiver group of Fresh Booter, Nate Atasuke, and Wizard Stephan. Pythons quarterback Jameis Christ had an atrocious 23/50 completions/attempts against a great pass defense that stopped Pythons star receiver John Wachter. Pythons have only lost 2 games this season so far with both losses coming from Chicago. They’ll be ramping up their efforts this week to overcome their division competitor.
San Antonio Marshals at Kansas City Coyotes
In a repeat matchup of week 5, the Marshals head back to Kansas City to redeem themselves against the Coyotes. In their last meeting, the Coyotes won a decisive 23-16 through a kicking assault by Brandon Walsh to clinch the game in the fourth quarter. Marshals quarterback Vincent Draxel had an abysmal performance against a formidable pass defense, but the Marshal coaching staff will have some new strategies to deploy this game. Look for this one to be a competitive bout between the two division rivals.
Week 8
Kansas City Coyotes at Tijuana Luchadores
Kansas City holds a 2-0 series record against the Luchadores and have soundly defeated them in their outings both on the road and at home. Tijuana has struggled to contain balanced offenses like Kansas City, and they’ll need their defense to step it up this game with better pass rushing by players like Egor Medved and secondary coverage by Terrell Brister. The Luchadores don’t quite trust Issac Brown yet and will probably rely on Sidney Spinelli to mount the offensive attack. Coyotes cornerback Andre Bly Jr. will ensure that Brown will have a hard time getting his ball to Luchadore receivers.
Norfolk Seawolves at Chicago Blues
The Seawolves head to Chicago to face their division rival. This team has defensively held Chicago to single digits in their first 2 games as Chicago quarterback Matt Strike struggled against them. Norfolk boasts incredible offensive threats in wide receiver Hunter Mason and running back Conall O’Sullivan and Chicago has struggled to contain them defensively. Cornerbacks Tegan Atwell and Eric Forman will have their hands full trying to shut down the Norfolk passing game.
Portland Pythons at San Antonio Marshals
The Pythons head down to San Antonio for their first regular season matchup. This will be an excellent battle of wills as San Antonio’s superior defense will try to stop the Pythons’ heavy air based offense. The Pythons will also have to work hard on defense to stop the Marshal run game of Jack Stats and Thomas Mango. The Marshals’ have an all-star cast of cornerbacks to cover the all major Python receivers and this may end in a close victory for the Pythons or an absolute lockdown win for the Marshals.
