(This post was last modified: 05-26-2017, 06:25 PM by Molarpistols.)
The rookie guide posted in the Create a Player forum is a good starting point, but it lacks a few of the details that new guys like myself should know in order to make the job easier for the GMs, Bankers and other Mods out there. Out of boredom, I'm going to start updating this post as a make-shift FAQ as I find out more.
1. Creating Your Player.
You'll want to pick a position, Position Tracker will give you a good idea of how many there are at each position.
Once you've decided, pick out a template from Offense, Defense or Special Teams.
Inside each position there are several examples of archetypes. Pick your favorite, this will give you the base stats for your player. Each template comes with 50 extra TPE to use to customize your character as much as you'd like. You must use all 50 points before your player can be approved by mods.
The following scale applies to how you can use those points to improve your player:
0-50 - costs 1 TPE to go up 1 point
51-70 - costs 2 TPE to go up 1 point
71-80 - costs 5 TPE to go up 1 point
81-90 - costs 10 TPE to go up 1 point
91-100 - costs 15 TPE to go up 1 point
Once you've spent your points to your liking, go to Create A Player and begin a new topic. The draft has yet to be done, so you should name your topic (S1)-Player Name - Position. (Example: (S1) - Ian Bavitz - ILB)
Copy paste your statistics from the archetype template along with the additions from the 50 extra TPE. Once complete, your player will be approved by mods and you'll be entered into the draft!
2a. What is TPE, where do I get it?
TPE is the currency you use to improve your player. It is earned through training and purchasing of equipment. Each rookie starts off with a First Free Training, which is different from equipment.
To claim the free training, go to the Player Transactions page, located under the bank. Since you haven't been drafted, you'll post in the Unassigned Player Transactions board. Simply link the Rookie Guide with your username and player name in the thread, and you get credit for it. The free training counts as Weekly Training, not equipment, and it earns you 3 TPE. You can purchase weekly training once per week at a cost of $1,000,000. Money is covered later on, so don't feel too lost yet!
An easy way to earn TPE is through Weekly Activity Check #1. Posting in the thread before 11:59 PM PST on Saturday of each week will earn you 2 TPE. The updated activity thread can be found in the Player Development area.
Point Tasks are another great way to earn TPE. Until Friday, May 26th, 6:00pm PST, you may enter Draft Order Prediction, earning 1 TPE per correct guess (6 maximum if you get all 6 in the correct order!). The other current Point Tasks is creating a Draft Profile for your player. A 200 word writeup or hype poster will earn you up to 3 TPE.
DO NOT USE TPE EARNED FROM Point Tasks UNTIL IT IS UPDATED INTO Point Task Claim Thread
Equipment can be purchased once per season for each item on the list. Each item costs $1,000,000, you will need to post the transaction in the proper Player Transactions thread, for everyone thus far, the Unassigned Player Transactions. Make sure to include username, player name, dollar amount to withdraw and the item being purchased. The banker will finalize your transaction, and you'll be able to use the equipment (earn TPE).
2b. Spending TPE
Once you've earned TPE, either through the Free First Training or through equipment/training purchases you have to spend it! Using the same scale we used in the initial player construction:
0-50 - costs 1 TPE to go up 1 point
51-70 - costs 2 TPE to go up 1 point
71-80 - costs 5 TPE to go up 1 point
81-90 - costs 10 TPE to go up 1 point
91-100 - costs 15 TPE to go up 1 point
You may allocate your points accordingly. Remember, higher ranks cost more, so you can save up!
Once you're ready to spend your TPE, go to Player Database and find the correct thread. The draft hasn't begun yet, so it should be the Prospect Update board, start a new topic using (Current Season (1) - Player Name - Position. After the draft, your updates will need to be placed into the proper Team Update Threads, or if you're unlucky and don't have a team, the Unassigned Player Updates thread.
The Rookie Guide has an in-depth process for how to complete the update, but it should look like this: Rookie Update Example Remember to link to the places you earned the TPE from! Once per week, an updater will go through, apply the updates for the simulator and reply to ensure it's complete. The next week, if you have more updates you should make a new update thread in the proper place, using the correct format again.
3. Earning Money
Once the draft happens in early June, many of us will be assigned to teams, where we will get a contract that pays us money! You'll find Contract Deposits and Media/GFX Payouts are the most likely ways you'll earn money. If you can provide something special to the site, you may be able to earn from Job Payouts. Once approved by the banker, they'll be deposited into Bank Accounts. From here you'll be able to see how much you can invest in Weekly Training and Equipment.
Money can also be earned by providing graphics and media articles. Graphics Rubric shows the rubric for graphics. You can find requests for Graphics here. Your submission will be graded and you will be updated with the money, in the Media/GFX Payouts, and approved and placed into your Bank Account.
For Media, your submission will be graded using the Media Rubric. Special Note: Pressers will be paid out at 50%. However, asking questions at other people's pressers, which can be found here, Media, will earn you extra money. Presser Questions. Each question asked by you on someone's presser earns you $100,000 (up to a maximum of $500,000 per presser (basically 5 question maximum). You will not earn money for repeating questions. A maximum of $10,000,000 per user can be earned this way.
4. What if I goofed on something?
Didn't put your transaction amount for purchased Equipment? Miscounted your TPE usage on your Unassigned Player Updates? You can amend the post to fix your error until it is officially updated, you will likely be contacted by a mod when this is necessary.
