In a shocking twist, after 6 seasons with the Colorado Yeti , RB Boss Tweed has been traded to the Yellowknife Wraiths. Sources close to both teams have indicated that Tweed agreed to the trade when approached about it.
After being drafted to Colorado in S1, Tweed has developed a reputation as one of the league’s most loyal players and has proudly carried the team’s banner despite several struggling seasons. Critics of the team have suggested for years that Tweed might thrive in a more dominant organization and that theory will now be put to the test as Tweed enters his 7th season as a Wraith. Yellowknife paid a high price to acquire this star player, but team representatives have already gone on record saying that they feel it was well worth it and that they see big things ahead for one of the league’s most renowned players. In addition to being known for his loyalty, Tweed is well-liked by his peers and the team’s players are said to be excited about his presence in their locker room next season.
The move does generate a few questions, though, as Tweed will be the Wraiths’ 5th Running Back, playing alongside players like Eric Kennedy and Robby Rainey. Kennedy was previously the lead back after taking over for Bubba Nuck, who will now find himself starting for the Yeti. Despite some success on the ground, Kennedy has failed to break away from the pack as a dedicated rusher and has continued to function as a part-time receiver in order to allow the organization to properly leverage his skillset. One would have to believe that, with Tweed’s caliber of talent, his arrival will move Kennedy out of the lead back role permanently. Regardless of what lies ahead, though, both men still find themselves with a trio of young challengers waiting in the wings as, amid much criticism, Yellowknife acquired S6 RBs Borro Gore, Willy Nyquist, & Robby Rainey. Defenders of the organization described that decision as the team “hedging their bets”. Still, the introduction of Boss Tweed adds a new layer of consistency to the running game that has previously been lacking.
