The NSFL has not yet even played a single official game and there are already rumblings from the players. The preseason and official team activities behind us and some of the players have grown restless with their salary and time commitment required for the game.
The league’s officials have opened up and said they’re willing to compromise with the players to make the NSFL a league that works for players, fans, and ownership alike. While no official conclusions have been reached there are many ideas being thrown around.
Most of the solutions revolve around money. So we wouldn’t be surprised to see a significantly increased salary cap coming to the league in the future. Other potential resolutions are focused on increasing payouts for off the field work. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a new, lower cap placed on the cost of some of the leagues amenities including trainers and equipment. A few other avenues are being explored to reduce the strain on players and their development, but at this time there isn’t a lot of concrete details that point to which direction the league is going.
While there are rumors swirling or corruption and collusion amongst general managers, certain players, and the league’s officials it does look like the league is trying to improve for the sake of all of its members and staff in its early stages of development.
We’ll keep our on the ground and monitor how this story develops, only time will truly tell.
