2. Tell us about your draft class. Is there anything that makes it special in comparison to other classes? Where did your fellow draftees land, how are they doing? Did anyone turn out to be an unexpected steal of that draft based on what you know today? Do you think anyone in your draft class will become a hall of famer? If you’re new to the league, how do you think your class will do? Where do you think people will get drafted to?
Task one was tempting-NOLA finally won a ring and it would have been interesting to see all the moves they made over the years-but since I'm just a season or two away from the retirement of my player I wanted to see how the other players in my class were doing. Most of this draft class are six or seven seasons deep into their ISFL careers, which means some players at the twilight of their careers while others are still at the top. So for what will probably be my last offseason task post(at least during Brian Vincent-Vega's career at least), I decided to spend some time on the index and the tracker.
Arizona's S41 draft class including Yoshi Jr, Aguilera, Duvernay and Vincent-Vega are still valuable members of the Outlaws. Aguilera and Duvernay have not shown any signs of regression and have been remarkably consistent. Benji Aguilera just had his fourth 1000 yards season(1295 to be exact) and Benjamin Duvernay missed just two tackles while making 109, a career high. Yosh and Vincent-Vega aren't the players they once were, but they've had very respectable careers, as Yosh was named to multiple Pro Bowls and Vincent-Vega earned an All-Pro First Team nod over the course of it. All four of course, have stayed with Outlaws since they were drafted and have three ISFL championship wins to their name. I think Aguilera and Duvernay both have shots at making the hall, especially Aguilera since he's still top 5 in terms of TPE in this class with 1123.
Loose Cannon was one of the top players on the S40 London team that I was on. New York took him in the second, which I was quite surprised by because I had him going in the first round. He's stuck with New York through thick and thin. During the span of his career New York made it all the way to the Ultimus but are now at the bottom of the table. The linebacker-strong safety hybrid has always been a tackle machine and shows no signs of slowing down. I believe Cannon has been somewhat underrated throughout his career. He has just two Pro Bowls and no All-Pros. But still, a very good player who maybe needed a little more luck.
Dub Redd, while not part of AZ's S41 draft, joined the Outlaws this past season after seven seasons in New York. I think he's worth talking about especially since he was the number one overall pick. Originally a defensive tackle he swapped to OLB and had a very good couple of seasons for New York. He exploded for 152 tackles and 13 sacks in S47. Not unlike Loose Cannon, he's still very good individually but just hasn't had the luck. And with Arizona sadly not looking super competitive next season, the Ultimus might be quite far away for him.
Max Honestly, another one of my old London teammates, has been elite since day 1. He Drafted to Sarasota, he's put up big numbers year in and year out and was finally rewarded with a championship a couple seasons ago. Double digit sacks every single year and safety numbers in coverage. I think he makes the hall.
Going through the TPE tracker it was fun to see all the names I've become familiar with over the seasons and see where they are at now. After looking up the careers of several more players in the index & seeing their numbers drop I was surprised to feel a sort of bittersweet feeling like watching your favorite athletes decline with age in real life & really felt like the regression aspect was done really well.
