Who better than Florida Man to take their Ultimus celebratory trip to Disney World. Florida Man has been to Disney before but this time is different. This time he is visiting as a celebrity. He paid for the VIP tour because Florida Man does not have time to wait in line. He needs to always be on the move. He was able to visit all 4 parks on the weekend. He is a thrill seeker and thanks to the ability to skip all the lines he was able to ride every coaster. His favorite one ended up being Expedition Everest, which he rode at night to maximize the feeling of speed and drops. The moment where it seems like they are going to fly off an unfinished track got him every time. Florida also decided to take a cheat weekend to try out all the delicious food. He ate around the world during his time at Epcot and went back to Magic Kingdom on Sunday to finish out his fun weekend by enjoying the fireworks show.

I'm not really sure. Football is a really simple game, but at the same time, definitely not simple at all. There's so many weird situations like onside kicks or deciding to go for it instead of punting that make-up the crucial decisions during the course of the game. On top of that, at least now with the modern game, there's motion and wildly different formations and players that can play multiple positions, even on defenses with the rise of the Edge position and the modern S/LB player. However, I think the sim engine captures the essences of the game during the 80s-90s. Pro style formations and playcalling which is good. It is nice to at least see dots running around. I've been playing a lot of Football Coach: College Dynasty and Madden this year and I think the current sim engine truly is something in between those two. Things can always be improved. Maybe with all these stats in the real life game (like surrender percentage on punts and AWS supposedly tracking everything) we will see AI assisting in improving the simulation of football.

For this one I gotta write about none other than my boy and RE #38s best friend who isn't a Yeti. The esteemed Josh Patterson (@Tylertokesome04). Not much is known about Patterson's early life. He grew up in Baton Rogue, Louisiana and had a talent for football at an early age. Success as a two way player got Josh a scholarship to the University of North Texas, he wanted to be close to family but not tooo close. At UNT, Josh excelled as a Corner Back and was selected for the DSFL Prospect Bowl with the Amsterdam Adders. There, Josh and his new friend RE #38 were fiend on defense in that tournament. And then the funniest thing happened. After both players were selected (unfortunately for them literally across the world from one another) in the DSFL draft, BOTH Josh and RE Switched to Quarterback. Now, despite being across the world from each other (and timezones being a pain in the butt). Josh and RE frequently talked and gave tips to each other as both learned the QB position. It blossomed into a beautiful friendship. Both players went on to do well. But Josh Patterson really lit up the DSFL in his 3 seasons there. Patterson showing true Gunslinger qualities amassing 11,964 yards, 85 TDs in 3 seasons in the pass heavy London offense. It his rookie year, Patterson also broke the TD in a game record against Dallas with 7 TDs in one game. Truly a great player. Josh's friend RE went up a little before in into the ISFL (and switched to LB). This last season was Josh's rookie ISFL season (and he didn't switch to another position). I would say that Josh had a good first season and is a great building block for SJS moving forward. A few more pieces on offense and we will see Josh at the top of the league. (And I hope RE gets to sack him in S45 hehehe).

27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task)

If I wasn't holding it down as a cornerback, just picture this – Bonzi Buddy rocking the linebacker spot for our squad. Man, that would be insane, like next-level fun! I'm talking about a whole new world of excitement where Buddy's killing it as a linebacker, and I'm right there with him, making the Silverbacks' defense unstoppable. In this wild scenario, I'm stepping into a different zone on the team, rolling with Bonzi Buddy to amp up our defense game. Picture us shutting down rivals left and right – it'd be legendary. And, get this, Bonzi Buddy as a wide receiver? That's a game-changer. With his natural skills and the way he moves, he'd be owning that position. Imagine him snagging passes like a boss, and me, just doing my thing to back him up. So, in this flip-the-script universe, where we're swapping roles and tearing it up on the field, you know the Silverbacks would be on fire.

13. Choose a team or player to write about that isn’t your own. What did they do well in the last season? Have they shown any drastic improvements from previous years? What could they do better?


One player I want to talk about is my running mate in London, DSFL rookie linebacker Perry Passiveman. The first thing I noticed about Perry is probably the only negative thing that I have to say about him, before I shower him in praise, and that is that he wears number 99. Now don't get me wrong, number 99 is a fantastic player number....if you are a defensive lineman. I mean come on now linebackers are versatile, they fly around, they make plays all over the field. Sure they lay some big hits and they can be bigger than a lot of players but there's still quickness to their game. Save number 99 for the heavyweights. But I digress. Passiveman played college ball at M.E.H. college, but there's nothing "meh" about this young stud. He finished his rookie season in the DSFL with 112 tackles, 5th in the DSFL, and 10 sacks, 9th in the DSFL. Both impressive marks considering there were plenty of veteran linebackers and defensive lineman to compare against. However, where Passiveman really excelled was with his league-leading 20 tackles for loss. But that 20 tackles for loss wasn't just the most this season, it's tied for the second most in a single season all time! In a league where the ground game is so heavily relied upon by offensives, having a linebacker like Passiveman that can break into the backfield and get after the ball carrier like a heat seeking missile is an absolutely massive boost for your defense. Passiveman is also a fantastic part of the team off the field as well, growing as a presence in the locker room. If he stays down in the DSFL for future season there is no doubt that he will be an absolute leader for this defense as A Waffle prepares to move on to the ISFL. The only hope is that the Royals can build around Passiveman on defense and finally find some success to reward his excellent play on defense.

17. Going to Disney World! Who was the Ultimus or Ultimini Game MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disney World.

In a shootout like the one that took place during the S44 Ultimus game, it's hard not to hand the MVP to the quarterback of the winning team, and in this game Nova Montagne absolutely deserved it. Throwing for over 350 yards, 4 touchdowns, no interceptions and a stunning 130.7 passer rating, Montagne was a Supernova for the Hahalua on a night when they needed her to be as the Crash were able to put up 36 points of their own. I guess both defenses decided to sit this one out yikes. As with all Ultimus MVPs, Montagne made her way to Disneyworld after the postseason festivities had concluded. And with so many things at Disneyworld to do what do you think Montagne did?? Yes, that's right she went on a quest to get an autograph from every character in the entire park. Oh wait sorry, I read that wrong this says she went around to give her autograph to every character in the park. Interesting, but hey whatever tickles your mouse ears or what it is they say down there in Disney. As long as she had fun I guess.

24. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do?

If I was in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus halftime show, I would do something to get more players involved from around the league. One idea would be to have a talent show for any players that weren't playing in the Ultimus game. Can you juggle? Can you tell jokes? You're in. Or maybe something else a little more competitive, like a rap battle. I know that I personally would want to compete in that? Can you rhyme? Can you juggle a series of bars and complex metaphors? You're in. Yeah something competitive, something with juggling. Oh wait wait ok now I've got it, forget those other ideas we're having a pro bowl combat juggling match. IF you're not familiar with combat juggling just stop reading right now and go look it up......ok are you back now? Alright now picture that with a bunch of 250+ pound dudes running around with the Benny Hill Theme blasting in the background. I mean after that would you even need to stay and watch the rest of the Ultimus game? Probably not, that's all the entertainment you need right there I tell you hwat.

Task 19:

I think the most important part of a new stadium for us in Sarasota would have to be the locker room and generally, the player facilities. Sure, concessions and big screens are good for the fans. We want the fans to be happy, but we need to be the best versions of ourselves. A big locker room with beautiful team colors and branding, somewhere we can be proud of. State of the art injury prevention and rejuvenation stations. We need some float tanks. We need the most modern versions of ice baths you can think of. I want saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis. We need to have dedicated massage therapists on site, as well. The players need to be pampered and allow themselves to get into the best head space in order to compete. This would also be a big selling point to luring in any top-end free agents or future big-time draft prospects. Players want to be treated like the assets they are.



Task 21:

The best spot for Johnny Blaze Jr would be to permanently join the cast of Impractical Jokers. After decades of speculation, it is confirmed that Joe Gatto will not return to the group. Who would be a better replacement than a football player who has never acted before and is generally not recognized as a public figure? As a longtime fan of the show, I believe that I would quickly pick up on making the best out of the challenges. The thought of punishing me, a superstar athlete, is something that the fans would love to see pay off. As long as my punishment doesn’t involve purposely losing football games, or having to gain 60 pounds in an off-season, I think it would go well. Some of the fans would revolt against the show, but this could be a brand new era for the Jokers. I’d also be able to cash out at the Comic Cons across the country once my football days are over. I’d be painted on the side of buses. We could make a second movie. The possibilities are endless.

The best branding in the league is by far the Sarasota Sailfish. The name flows right off the tongue and it sounds powerful. The logo of the sailfish being a menacing figure strikes fear in most of their opponents. Perhaps my favorite part of their branding is the team colors. The green and the blue go together perfectly. The logo captures everything that you want to know about the team. The sailfish are serious, but colorful creatures who live in paradise. Even the color-rush layout is impressive to me. Leaning into the space-centric history of the state of Florida and the beautiful light blue and orange is yet another true Floridian color scheme. This is something that should stay the same for decades, there isn’t much that Sarasota can possibly do to make a better branding effort. Second place, for me, would be the Yellowknife Wraiths. The colors are fantastic, the logo is intimidating, but the team name really needs work. There has to be a better location than Yellowknife for these devilish Wraiths to call home.

Task 32:

Johnny Blaze Jr.’s podcast would be titled “Just Blaze”. This show would be about football, sports, and life in general. Sure, it’s great to discuss the happenings of the ISFL, but the fans of Johnny Blaze Jr want more than the x’s and o’s. They want to connect with him on a deeper level, and this podcast is a great spot to do it. A natural communicator and ball-buster, Blaze Jr would have special guests sometimes when the situation calls for it, but the vision here is generally a one-man show. Blaze Jr has aspirations to be a member of the media once his playing days are over, so the idea of a podcast has been on his mind for quite some time, according to sources close to him. The podcast could hopefully grow into a daily radio show/live podcast type of program where Johnny can take live calls from fans and listeners, and just sit back and shoot the breeze.

Task 16

In his first professional season, Tuknha did not disappoint, proving that he was meant to be on the offensive line after his switch in the DSFL in S43. His first year he would find himself playing center for a team that was fresh off a championship and ready to compete again. Unfortunately, the season would end on an incredible last play touchdown in the playoffs for Cape Town, but Tunkha played well enough to earn Pro Bowl honors, recording 80 pancakes and never giving up a recorded sack. His first year was successful but lacked success in the championship department. The good news is Tunkha was determined to continue to grow as a professional and maybe even expand his positional play time away from center. He found center to be far to easy and really didn't interest him as far as what it required difficulty wise. Having yet to allow a sack in his DSFL and ISFL career, Tunkha was determined to continue that streak. He would succeed going the entire season, all sixteen games, without allowing a singular sack on his quarterback. It was likely one of the best case scenario seasons for the new Baltimore Hawks center. The biggest thing was his ability to play all 16 games without injury while training so hard on his off days. There were a few low points in the season for the Hawks in general, but it wasn't really anything that was catastrophic. The Hawks had a little bit of an issue beating Sarasota in the preseason and regular season but were able to pull of a pretty nice victory in the post season against them. Tunkha performed fine in both games getting 7 of his 80 pancakes against them in the regular season, and was able to get four more pancakes against them in the playoffs. The best game of the season for Tunkha actually came against their eventual playoff loss team, the Cape Town Crash. Tunkha was able to record a solid 9 pancakes in week 1 of the season against Cape Town, and then decided to absolutely smash that record and record 12 pancakes in their playoff game, just 2 shy of the Baltimore Hawks playoff record. Then did end up losing that game but they shouldn't have, so it really is a shame those twelve pancakes had to be wasted by a fluke last play. Tunkha was certain he was going to break the playoff record (for Baltimore) in the Ultimus. As Tunkha looks towards last season, there is a lot still to work on and get done. But there is one thing for sure, Tunkha will come back stronger and so will Baltimore. Tunkha plans on potentially moving positions and then resurging once again to prove his utility and ability to play anywhere. Though it seems likely he will probably stick to the offensive line this position move and just get off of hiking the ball. He was getting a little sick of farting on the quarterbacks hands hundreds of times a game. Silly centers. Tunkha is looking to have even more pancakes next season, and he feels 80 pancakes was just a sampling of what he is going to be able to accomplish in S45. For his fans, and the fans of the Baltimore Hawks, they should look for him to set his goals on the 3 figure mark. One hundred pancakes is his current goal and it would not shock me if the season following that Tunkha sets his eyes on 120. The idea is to improve every season until regression, and help Baltimore win in any way he can. And right now, that means hitting the weights and getting his strength maxed out. Tunkha gonna eat in S45.

26. If my player wasn't in the DSFL...
Note: This is written with the context of an injury Leo Simon Schwartz suffered at the end of the season in high school, which left him with a little time to ponder this question.

Leo took a big hit in the last game of the high school regular season, and for a while, it looked like he wouldn't make it to the State Championship. During his brief recovery, it seemed as though the injury might have been the end of his football aspirations. The prospect of not being able to join his team in the State Championship loomed large.

In the midst of this uncertainty, Leo contemplated an alternate path. During his recovery, he faced the stark reality that the injury might have forced him to hang up his cleats for good. The thought of not pursuing his passion for football was a bitter pill to swallow.

With the specter of a potential career-ending injury, the pressure from his father to join the family's shylocking business intensified. Leo found himself at a crossroads, grappling with the possibility that his football dreams might be slipping away. The world of loan sharking, once distant and undesirable, started to seem like a more pragmatic choice in the face of an uncertain athletic future.

Fortunately, Leo's recovery took a positive turn, allowing him to return to the field and continue pursuing his football dreams. The brief scare, however, left a lasting impact on his perspective, and he carried the experience with him into the next chapters of his journey, both on and off the field.

Let's talk about the future. As we've seen in the ISFL and DSFL, things can go from rock bottom to the absolute top in just one quick season and vice versa. With that said, tell us about your predictions for next season. Were there any big moves made late in the season or the offseason that you believe could really shake things up? Are there any players hitting the season with a noticeably improved TPE pool or hitting regression hard that you believe could seriously factor into a team's potential success? And lastly, which team do you expect to be hoisting the trophy for either the ISFL or DSFL, and which teams do you expect will be struggling to stay away from the bottom on the pack?

Focusing on Austin, it's looking like S45 will be the year of transition from now-retired QB Queen Elizabeth II and onto S43 replacement Cue III. QE2's retirement leaves me as the oldest player and sole member of the S35 draft class on the team. The Copperheads have a bunch of great DSFL and S43-44 players getting ready to replace the aging, and even I will still be over 600 TPE, so it's not like the team's going to have to do a giant rebuild this year. We already had the leading rushing offense in the league in S44, so I think we should be decently set up to work around a rookie QB on what's likely to be a similar TPE total as we were putting out there last season. So, the lens of prediction requires looking at the opposition to see if they're changing drastically.

We finished behind 12-4 Honolulu and 11-5 New York and 1 game ahead of 9-7 Arizona. The Hahalua have 2 S35 or older players, both at OL. The more impactful hits look to be those to their S36 CB/WR/RB trio that includes (per the TPE tracker) 2nd-highest all time TPE player Quarterstorm. A second hit on S37 QB Montagne will probably be managable but still have impact on the Ultimus-winning offense. With only 2 S42 players and no S43 on the budget sheet, I think Honolulu will be looking to run back the Ultimus and I could see them trying to really lean into that this year at the cost of having to do a much deeper rebuild in 2-3 seasons. The biggest problem right now looks to be their salary situation - the budget tracker shows them 4 million over the cap. My reading is that salaries/cap hasn't adjusted for any of the SA- clauses since regression-adjusted TPE numbers seem to not be in the sheet yet, but it still means some trouble if the GMs are going to try and seek reinforcements on the trade market. I expect Honolulu to still be in the playoffs, though I wouldn't be surprised if their offensive productions slips a bit.

New York is looking on the older side, with 1 S33, 1 S35, 5 S36, and 3 S37 players. I have to imagine that regression so widespread is going to cause some problems for them. The hits include their RB2, WR2/3, both human OL, LB1/2, CB1, and S1. Really, the good news is pretty much limited to the QB, RB1, and D-line. With all those impacts, I have to expect that the defense is going to regress a bit and I think the team will struggle to get double-digit wins in S45. The team has a lot of S39-41 talent with 6 players over 1k TPE, but their future past that looks shallow with their DSFL S43/44 players all under 300 TPE. The big question looking past this season is if that younger core be enough to help the team make the transition past the S36/37 folks.

Arizona struggled in the passing game in S44 with league-low 508 attempts for 3351 yards. They finished 4th in the conference for points scored, points allowed, and overall. They do seem well set-up for regression this year, though, with only the LB position being especially impacted. That could be a problem for a defense that I'm sure they would like to improve, though they also have a great roster of DSFL players that could be possible call ups. I expect Arizona to gain the most from New York's regression and expect them to make the playoffs in S45. I'm hoping that Austin can keep up with Arizona to get home field advantage - we had literally not beaten them in the regular season since S39 until this year, which is rough. That being said, I think Honolulu is still looking like the team to beat at this point in the offseason, and I think they're also the team most likely to trade for midseason reinforcements if there are any issues. Cape Town and Baltimore had great offenses last season and so I wouldn't want to pick the Ultimus winner until I see more about how the offseason shakes out, but I can't imagine Honolulu isn't close to even odds right now.
