One player that definitely deserves HoF recognition when they finally hang it up this coming season is San Jose Sabercats long time running back Jamar Lackson. From humble beginnings, Lackson, a player that many scouts said looked more like a quarterback than a running back, has carved his way into ISFL history. A member of both San Jose Ultimus teams in the more recent era, Lackson has been a key piece of the offense for the past decade, a feat alone that few players can lay claim to. And he wasn't just sitting around collecting paychecks, no this man was doing work. I uh.....uh I don't actually have the numbers here in front of me but I am pretty sure he's top 10 all time in something, if not also something else which is really something when you think about the legacy of the running back position in the ISFL. Seriously go back through the records and there are always multiple signature running backs in the league, sometimes multiple on the same team. But Lackson definitely stands out from his peers and still continues to grind to this day. And forget about the football itself for a second, his presence has been felt across the league off the field for his signature style. Not to mention some moments he's given us in league history like 'F speed'. When you think about it, the Hall of Fame isn't just about recognizing great players, it's about recognizing great stories. And who has a better story than Jamar Lackson?
I have a pretty easy answer that im not sure if anyone else has put up, but Cuco Clemente. When my first player was runnin around doing safety things, I had a bit of personal rivalry in my head with Cuco. Every year, I would put up great numbers, make a ballot, only to be shot down in second place by Clemente. It felt like every year he was the top safety. I havent looked at his stats compared to other safeties of the past, but its hard to compare to when they could play linebacker padding stats much more than they can now. I do know that out of my six ISFL seasons with Blackfyre, I made the Ballot 3 times. each time I made the ballot, Clemente made the ballot. And more times than not he won it Safety of the year and if my memory serves I believe he had a dpoty win? At least a nom for sure. I think I would have been able to nab a vote or two if it wasnt for clemente.
Deadly Memes best be in the Hall o' Fame. I am so confident in this, I am nah even goin' t' consider his statistics afore the sim change. Come sail wit' me.
First, the borin' stuff. As an undersized runnin' back, he recorded 281 pancakes o'er the course o' 7 seasons. At a better than 10:1 ratio, he only gave up 23 sacks. Wit' the exception o' 2046, he gave up 2-3 sacks per year. Amazin' considerin' his position 'n size.
On t' the good stuff. Memes started 103 o' his crew's 109 games from 2042 t' 2048. He eclipsed 4100 yards 'n 60 touchdowns on more than 820 carries. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry on converted first downs on well-nigh 26% o' his runs. If that doesn't get ye into the Hall, I dunno wha' does.
But wait! Thar's more! He also hauled in 332 catches fer 3461 yards 'n 18 more touchdowns. Wit' a first down conversion rate o' 47%, he was constantly movin' the chains fer his crew.
Overall, Memes accounted fer 7650 yards from scrimmage 'n 78 total touchdowns. Go ahead 'n make the plaque; Memes will be thar in 5 years.
